The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    To follow up a question I asked earlier in here about Rambo being essential...which would you roll with? Don't think I'll do this, mostly asking for fun.

    Team A (current):
    Bego - Gilks
    Terry/DEBUCHY/Ward - PvA, Moore
    Mata/Sterling/Eriksen/Siggy - Marney
    Rooney/Costa/DZEKO

    Team B:
    Bego - Gilks
    Terry/Ward/4.5 - 4.0, 4.0
    Mata/Sterling/Eriksen/Siggy/RAMSEY
    Rooney/Costa/BOJAN

    In other words, is it worth wrecking my defense and punting on Bojan to bring someone like Rambo (high potential, high ownership) into my team?

      Yes, You are only going to play 3 at the back and Ramsey will outscore at least one of those.

        I'd agree with that, but what about the drop from Dzeko (or Bony, or Lukaku later in the year) to Bojan? Can a Bojan/Siggy rotation replace an upper-tier forward like that? That's the key question in this scenario, I think.

    a) Jovetic & Marney: Means playing 3-4-3, Jovetic is a big gamble but could come into his own
    b) Bojan/Ulloa & De Jong? Gives a better option of 3-5-2 or 3-4-3

    If the latter, will bench De Jong in GW 1 and then play him GWs 2-8 versus Villa, Palace, Soton, Hull, Stoke, Swansea & Leicester.

    Chambers - GW1 and then probably switch to Yoshida, or Cameron if he starts for Stoke?
    Siggy and Boj rotation.

      Yep solid, my personal thing is hating foster/krul, would prefer 5m GK and 4m GK so Bego and Myhill. Other then that loving midfield and the tadic punt

        Thanks. Just going to put my faith in Home fixtures. Even with good opposition , they are sure to get decent save points. Think Stoke will be more attacking this year and leave themselves vulnerable in defence.

      Siggy might not start in the hole and ince might start up top, see how it pans out. Surprised a so so Man U defence and Yaya who hasn't been great pre season gets the nod ahead of Mata, henderson and 3 mill in the bank. Im feeling B TBH

      You will want to swap out chambers after a week or two and having wisdom, moore, hutton and el ahmadi will probably leave you short

    I think I am finally done with it.

    F.Luis - B.Davies - Ward - Ferdinand - Chambers (swap to Stoke defender after GW1)

    Any suggestions would be good, even if it is just a better 4.5m mid or a better 4m GK.

    Ok so here's a question.

    City is really weak in defense for atleast Round 1.

    I got this defense:
    Foster/Krul
    Jones, O'Shea, W. Brown (Collochini, Yoshida)

    Worth using Krul and Colochini for the first round?

    Because Sunderland facing West Brom and Im planning on rotating the above for atleast GW1-6..

    What do you guys think? Take a chance on Newcastle against City?

    -- I was stuck between Sturridge/Hazard or Costa/Sterling +££, in the end I went for the second option as I feel Chelsea have the better fixtures initially
    --Chambers is a bit of a punt, not sure if I should switch to Debuchy and downgrade Jones (Man U defence looking v dodgy)
    --Apart from that I'm reasonably happy (I think!)
