Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Kelly could be a super punt. As it stands, you wouldn't play a CRY def in gmwk 1.. Kelly should start in week 2..
And expect his price to shoot when the casuals realize he's 4.5

And the young guy Jerome Williams played most pre season games at left back, or is just an academy player who won't really get a look in

    Mata Fab Ramsey Siggy x
    Rooney Costa x

    a) Jovetic & Marney: Means playing 3-4-3, Jovetic is a big gamble but could come into his own
    b) Bojan/Ulloa & De Jong? Gives a better option of 3-5-2 or 3-4-3

If the latter, will bench De Jong in GW 1 and then play him GWs 2-8 versus Villa, Palace, Soton, Hull, Stoke, Swansea & Leicester.

Instead of Lamela/Erikson I could always go Tadic and get either Hendo or Siggy for Young.

    RMT

    De Gea - Krul
    F.Luis - B.Davies - Ward - Ferdinand - Chambers (swap to Stoke defender after GW1)
Mata - Sterling - Eriksen - Siggy - El Ahmadi
    Rooney - Costa - Adebayor

Any suggestions would be good, even if it is just a better 4.5m mid or a better 4m GK.

Luis and Adebayor will both play. Not every team can have Ramsey, I went for Mata and 3 top class strikers instead. Ferdinand will be fine in a 5 at the back, if he gets injured I will swap him. Speaking of an injury waiting to happen ... RAMSEY!

Seriously considering Terry/Cahill/Luis. Only one of the big 5 Chelsea defs will miss out so risking two or three is no worse than risking one.

The difficulty comes when I want to get in Haz, Fab or Costa of course.
