Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Think Naughton is being underestimated on here.

Walker been out for 5 months already, not back in training yet and will take 2 weeks of training before he's considered, meaning could get a month+ out of Naughton.

True, but what's the point in throwing the dice on a player who may or may not play, who will have to be taken out at some point, in a defence that is miles away from settled.

Statistically he's very over-priced, also Liverpool have hard fixtures to start and it's likely will struggle to score more than 1 goal a game post Suarez.

Not much love for Yaya on here!
Whilst he is certainly not cheap, if he can find the form he showed through last season I still believe he represents good value.
And not sure I would benefit much from switching him out for someone like Mata... where would I use the extra 2 mil, apart from to improve my bench?
    My team -

    Szczesny (Myhill)

    Caulker (Ward)
    Debuchy (Duff)
    Terry

    Young (Marney)
    Lamela
    Ramsey
    Yaya Touré

    Bojan
    Diego Costa

Yaya is MUCH better value than Sturridge there was an article on here looking at value for money and Yaya is actually worth about 12m and Sturridge 10m.

I'm not planning on getting either with the early fixtures. I'd say Yaya is a better bet though as he has penalty duties until Aguero returns.

I think he scored about 85% of the free-kicks he took last season. Fairly unlikely any Premier League player will ever do that again, let alone him doing it this year.

I'd be surprised if he outscores Hazard by a single point, and he won't outscore him in the first 2 gameweeks.

    You get these fixtures:

    2 BUR
    3 WBA
    4 sto
    5 SOT
    6 sun

He got 6 goals in 30 games last time - and this time he's on penalities, which is normally worth 4 goals a season or so.

Assuming he's nailed on, would you rather have Ben Davies at 5.0 for the long term, or Naughton at 4.5 for the short term?

Do players values increase the second the window closes for GW1 due to the number of people who have selected them, or is it based on fluctuation from then on?

I'm sure many have done their own predictions based on the ones above in the article.... But, as understandable that it is predicting a terrible season for us (Burnley) I think we'll surprise a few

22.5 for 5 defenders. Who should I pick taking into account that the 5 are starters and have good fixtures?

        Thanks!!
