A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

        Tbh I still think Palace will be just as solid in the back for the first few GW's. The Assistant manager is likely to take charge while Palace search for a new one and he will deploy Pulis's tactics during the time he is managing the team.

    a) Jovetic & Marney: Means playing 3-4-3, Jovetic is a big gamble but could come into his own
    b) Bojan/5.5 & De Jong? Gives a better option of 3-5-2 or 3-4-3

    If the latter, will bench De Jong in GW 1 and then play him GWs 2-8 versus Villa, Palace, Soton, Hull, Stoke, Swansea & Leicester.

    This is a great-on-paper defence I made a while back, still sticking with it as it looks genuinely solid.

    Kelly at 4.5m may cause a complete redraft, but you may as well consider this if you want a bulky midfield/strikeforce - 32m-32.5m (keeper selection dependent)

      Shocking backline. Replace Luis and Baines and get Eriksen in midfield. Also get cheaper defenders that will do well. For example, Caulker and Cahill.
