A new beginning. On the eve of a new campaign, two grumpy middle-aged has-beens gather in a studio to recall the summer’s feast of football and look ahead to another Fantasy season, full of hope.

There’s no frills. No live video cast. No special guests. Just Granville and I, stripped back and almost unplugged.

Don’t let that put you off, though. Even with our limited powers we at least attempt to cut through the issues currently rattling around in the minds of Fantasy managers.

We assess the Old Trafford revolution, the world without Suarez and the merits of the three-man strike force. We slice through the current transfer trends and weigh up matters such as the Sigurdsson/Bojan rotation, Fagregas vs Hazard and the Chelsea back four conundrum. We also manage to warm up with a nice little argument about the Alexis Sanchez bandwagon – the traditional pre-season barney.

      I've been lurking around for a few seasons and last season it felt like the site really exploded in popularity. It's always good when good sites get attention but it does make the comment section slightly tougher to use in a meaningful way.

    I've got 9.5 to spend on two rotating def's. I was thinking Caulker and Kelly but that a tad risky now. Any suggestions?

    Are we all being a bit cynical? Palace have been under Pulis for a good few months, surely they won't instantly return to an unorganised mess within at least a month under a new manager?

      That thought crossed my mind but it's a gamble - also depends on the attitude of the new man in charge, I've reverting to 'wait and see'

          Well, if you can find an option for 4.5 (Ward probably) then you're only spending the same as you would on a Newcastle/Sunderland/Swansea/QPR/Hull... defender and nobody is expecting them to be keeping clean sheets every week.

              Haha no that's fair play. I just want a bloody understanding of how they plan to line up and their mindset without having another issue nearby (both City strikers = no GW1 transfer or hit GW2/3)

      But who could have predicated that from a defending mess under Holloway they could have turned into such a defensively cohesive unit under Pulis.

      Strange creatures footballers, especially when you get 11 together on a pitch.

    Well, unless you generously suggest that because the season hasn't started yet it doesn't count, score 0 for the scouts predictions on "First Boss To Bite The Bullet". The predictions had only been up a couple of hours 😆

      Considerin there's no attacker @5.5 million and below in midfield/attack which has as high a ceiling and potential than him i'm taking a punt gladly. fully expect price drops if he fails the first week though

      I'm thinking I'll probably refuse to get him as well. Its hard to admit a 5.5m striker could be better than an expensive striker. It would also go against basic principals of FPL, 343 all the way.

              TBH there are so many good big hitting midfielders I'd consider an Alternative to Mata. In my situation Young gave me the courage to swap in Ramsey for Mata.

    Not sure he'll get any starts from GW2 onwards unless we get injuries.

        Mert and Kos were solid last year so can't see that partnership being split up easily.

    I am looking for a 5th 4.5 or 5 MiD. Un my mind, it should be a season keeper with a great balance between security of starts and offensive point potential.

    I have shorten the list down to Dorrans (offensive threats) and gareth Barry (security of starts)
