The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Ryan’s biggest concern is his cheap defenders. Any ideas for improvement there? Is he right to spend so much on Ivanovic or to trust in Stevan Jovetic replicating his preseason form?

      Jamdandon, if you're going to be first to reply, At least try to answer the question posed before jumping in with an RMT.

      For Ryan's team, I think you need some nailed on (as can be) clean-sheeters. Maybe a Debuchy (cheap and looking like a guaranteed start). I think Young flatters to deceive and Jovetic is a good call while Aguero is not fully fit, but be prepared to transfer once he is

      Jamdandon, I'd say option A edges it but there are weak points in Caulker, Lamela and Young. Until last night I would have picked a Palace defender as a 5.0 option instead of Caulker but the waters have just got a whole lot muddier on that one. If you want to pick a Spurs midfielder for the same price, Eriksen is a much more viable option than Lamela. And Young?.... don't get me started on Young. There are a whole host of better options than Young, and don't an ok pre-season form fool you. If I had to pick another 5.5 player, i'd go for Mutch. However, i'd be tempted to go even cheaper and use the money elsewhere

      Bojan, of course, is a gamble which none of us really know whether it's going to pay off or not. Could be signing of the season or Ricky van Wolfswinkel

        Sometimes I do get a little annoyed when people RMT without consideration for the points being made, but that didn't happen here. Soz

        Shepboy, thanks for the feedback!

        Get your point re Young, and am ready to sub sigurdsson in very early on (which I can do with the extra 0.5 option B)! Am also torn between Lamela, and Eriksen (who I had for a large portion of last season). Lamela has had a good pre-season, so is edging it for me at the moment. But time will tell!

      Uncertain about Cameron, he's not nailed on to start, Bardsley might push him out. For the same price, how about Van Aanholt? Or Coloccini? Or do some rearranging to get a Chelsea defender (who are also a bit uncertain unofrtunately)?

      As for the rest, I like it. Very good midfield, liking the Cabella wildcard, he could score a fair amount of goals.

        Hope Cabella plays out as well, Newcastle have some favourable fixtures coming up though don't know hoe nailed on they are.

      i just dont think this one week shout thing is worth it, what if someone you dont have scores 2-3 goals and you need to get him in - you take a 4 point hit and there goes any clean sheet points you may have got from your one week wonder. Plus arsenal could conceed...

      ditch luis. definitely not a stick on to start. would be better off with azpilicueta, i am pretty sure he's going to play

      midfield looks great - i'd swap dzeko for giroud though.

          you would think so, but he wont. he's been appalling in pre season and didnt start the other night, mourinho opting for ake at LB and ivan at RB. He hasnt made his mind up on LB yet. Away game, needs to win, he reverts to type with dave at LB and brana at RB 110%

      jovetic not the best.

      need chelsea in defence. would also recommend putting fabregas in for hazard - hazard has looked peripheral in preseason and i dont think the team will be so overly reliant on him this term.

      take sanchez out - big price for someone who hasnt played in prem. dont think he's worth it. swap hazard for fabregas, and mutch for davis.
