The Beta Test on the new site that opened to Members last night is now closed after the first phase of testing.

We got a fantastic amount of feedback following the first phase and have a good list to work through before we go live again for another pass. We will also be optimising the servers and tweaking various aspects of the site before we open it up to Members once again.

We will keep you posted. Thanks again for the feedback from those who took part in last night’s test.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sorry if this has been asked already but who will be on pens if Tevez leaves? and also does anyone know if Aguero takes pens for Athletico?

Gary Barry has a pretty good record. Think he has scored more prem league pens than anyone. Balotelli will probably get them though to avoid him throwing his toys out the pram

Surely City bought Dzeko to cover Tevez leaving already. They need less players, not more. Imagine how much more profitable they will be without him (about 10 mil a season), plus the 40 for the sale. They should bank it

I think Aguero is almost a definite to end up there if Tev does indeed leave but as a noob I expect him to be in and out of the team much the same as dzeko, silva and Balo were in their first seasons.

Aguero wants to play in Spain. Maybe he's saying that to strengthen his negotiating stance in England, but I've heard statements by Athletico's chairman saying he would never sell Aguero to Real. Out side of them I don't think too many other La Liga teams could afford him.

Thats a bit of a silly argument. This is the final summer where big money can be splashed out and when you lose your best player you need to try and replace him as well as possible. Dzeko was purchased for the long term and imo didnt do well at all last season and clearly isnt ready to jump into tevez's shoes any time soon!

If Balo is on them then he really does become a much more attractive proposition plus we saw last season how influential Silva was in Tevez's absence so we could have two city attacking players tempting us. Very interesting (chin stroke)....

At your own peril, Balo is a chemical imbalance, and will never stay on the pitch for more than 3 games staight (not even considering the injuries he'll take on). My guess is that Silva may be the alternate or very likely even Milner...who may just be a very nice pick up. And I used to hate the guy.

Even if Balotelli is on Pens, it doesn't make him a good pick. City still play with one forward and with Dzeko and probably Aguero, he'll be a rotation risk. Especially as they are now in the CL.

Everyone seems to either be on the Aguero/Balo bandwagon for City.. no-one considering Yaya? Surely after last season (espesh the F.A Cup) and Tevez's impending departure, he'll be seen as one of their main men?

Mancini hardly dropped him at all last season and he'll still be relatively cheap Fantasy wise. Thoughts?!

Both will be influential this season. And I'd happily pay £7m for a reliable (i.e gametime) City cover. Too many doubts over Balo and Dzeko, and if Aguero signs his Fantasy price will be so bloated.

I remember another striker who came from Athletico and score 190+ in his first season after coming in around the 10m mark. I can see Aguero coming in around the same price but whether he gets the game time to make the same impact is questionable to say the least.

Yes sometimes it does take a while for them to fit in, but on the other hand - Torres came from Athletico Madrid to Liverpool at the same age as aguero is now with a simular goalscoring record at Athletico as aguero has now and scored 24 goals in his first season.

Aggree with this. If you were to buy another half decent keeper, it will cost you 4.5 million, and that will take you up to £10m for the pair. Seriously, just buy Hart and a Swansea keeper for that price.

What was it after he signed on? Im sure there was a bit of analysis saying theyre shoring up defensively. Maybe I dreamed it though. That goal they conceded in pre season damages confidence.

I've look at the stoke rotation with villa, some nasty clashes there, albeit quite good otherwise.

Agreed, but then, I guess no pairing is perfect.

The big thing for me is, the Stoke/Villa combo is going to be expensive. Not as expensive as Hart and a 4m bench fodder, but not far off imo. Of course, it depends on Given entering the game on MCY's price or AVL's price.

            There are other combos to consider as well. I haven't delved into it too much yet, but the following pairs match up home and away for at least 30 or so matches of the season;

            Norwich / Aston Villa
            Norwich / Fulham
            Stoke / Blackburn
            Sunderland / QPR
            Swansea / Newcastle
            West Brom / Aston Villa
            West Brom / Fulham
            Wolves / Stoke

      Interesting quote:

The Premier League has always been a carousel of talent that only stops off at the top four, but it's getting worse. Since the dawn of time players have wanted to better themselves but with clubs of the stature of Tottenham and Arsenal in danger of becoming stepping stones to better things there is a genuine fear that the divide between the mega-monied and mere mortals is becoming wider than ever.

Where are the players with the minerals to believe it is their talent that can make a good club great? If Fabregas and Samir Nasri really are two of the best midfielders in the world then surely in tandem, along with the likes of Robin van Persie, they should be looking to mould a side around their collective abilities rather than perennially hankering after moves to clubs already at the peak of their powers. Is there really that much satisfaction that can be gleaned from moving to Barcelona and making the best club side in the world half a per cent better? I'm not so sure

Anything can happen in the Premiership going by last season! It's hard to tell yet maybe after some more pre season games, but I would think Chelsea will get out of the traps early and win their first 3 games easily, will have to see what kind of unit Sunderland are with their new signings.

depends on chelsea back four. if terry alex and iva then unlikely, but if bos and luiz, then it is possible. plus stoke made a bad start last season, because their game is mostly combativity and that takes some weeks inside the season to reach it.

The forum member who put money on notorious slow-starters SV Mattersburg beating Wiener Neustadt in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday might want to look away now. This is the hilarious first goal that Mattersburg conceded after only 81 seconds:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqOtayUx5Uo

Ouch. And the second goal conceded by Mattersburg was just as embarrassing (at around 3:25 in this clip):

    Walker, FabioRiise/Briggs, S Taylor

    MF
Albrighton, Faurlin, Watson, Ramsey, Sinclair, Ben Arfa, Hoillett, Benayoun

so with Man City's stadium deal is being investigated i'm wondering what other genius ways they'll come up with to 'cheat' the financial fair play system and try and generate ridiculous amounts internally.

how about a 'mystery fan' (pure co-incidence that he's from UAE) comes to every home match and says he loves man city so much that he refuses to pay just the ticket price to watch his team, instead he pays £1mil for his ticket every match.

quite a bit of effort coming to manchester every week, so how about the club shop opens up on ebay and again by pure co-incidence a man from UAE bids £50mil for the new man city away kit, and then his richer brother who actually has the money bids £51mil.

Can anyone tell me what the Brazilian record transfer fee paid for a player is? I can't find it on google!
Man City are must be trying to manipulate their financial statements with this transfer of Tevez. No way can a Brazilian team afford or be willing to pay the full €50m for a player.
They're receiving money from a dodgey source, either a drug baron or a sheikh.
lets get to the bottom of this

Most big transfers in Brazil are funded by companies or investors. They have also increased their sponsorship revenues hugely recently.

Lets not go down the jonny foreigner countries can't possibly be able to compete financially road. As part of 'Bric' Brazil is emerging rapidly in all areas.

I think it's likely that Man City will try and push the fair play rules as far as they can.

Who can really say what the market value for a stadium naming is anyway?

I think they may be more sophisticated than putting an away kit on eBay though. 😉

I think the stadium deal represents fair value for both sides. Compare it to the recent Qatari foundation deal with Barca.

Hopefully the Ethihad deal works for them, it would be great if they took business off the likes of BA as they offer a far superior service and experience in every respect.

But the question is surely about is this bending the rules, since Mansour's half-brother is Eithad's founded and largest shareholder, and they are effectively part of the same royal family.

So, what's the matter with this? Are we at the point where we'll let nefarious entities (FA, FIFA etc) run leagues like slave owners or the NCAA with college basketball players?
So what if Lebron James decides tomorrow that he wants to ascend the thugs of Millwall to the EPL? I do understand the essence of fairplay, if it were applied the way it is in Germany than it would be fine, but they are starting with regulation that has no nuance to catch a donor that is willing to piss money away to the point they are losing on the deal. All of the policing mechanisms are suited to trace and track documented money transfers, documented to suit the donor, and generally used to catch the recipient.

Portsmouth Bubblejet if your such an authority on Austrian Football can I ask your view on the game in Erste Liga. Was thinking about LASK Linz win because the bookies have it priced as if they are an away team, but am I right in saying they share the same stadium as BW Linz?

"BW Linz have won six of their last six home matches, including a 3-1 victory over Red Bull Salzburg, a team who beat the mighty Lyon 2 weeks ago. Conversely, LASK Linz have only won one of their last six away matches, only mustering up three goals in the process."

          Mainly because of this ^^^^^

The league is only 2 games old, LASK were relegated last season from Bundesliga. And it is not an away game like I stated they share the same stadium. I don't know anything about Austrian football just seems like they are pricing LASK as an away team when they are at home.

Well going by PB post below the reason someone made them a lay of the day is because of the hatred the game will have which makes perfect sense, I'm going to stick with my guns and go for a small stake on "away" win 🙂

Well the reason he made them lay of the day is because of the reasons i posted above. It was a straight cut and paste. He made no mention of the rivalry between the two. Guess that's just even more reason to avoid it.

Sounds like he didn't do his research properly if he thought they were playing away from home and he is reading a lot into preseason games. If I wasn't so stubborn I would avoid it!

I have had them backed in 2 of the last 3 wins, had Red Sox last night as well.

I'm liking Red Sox again to beat the Orioles although they won a game finally.

Phillies look good but short enough odds and I like the White Sox as well.

LASK are the clear favourites - they were relegated from the Bundesliga last season and have a stronger squad and more financial support. Newly-promoted Blau-Weiss Linz will be lucky to stay up this season, and, if this were a normal game, would be the rank outsiders.

But it's going to be a real grudge game - and not just because it's a derby. BW Linz are the follow-on club from FC (formerly VÖEST) Linz who were disbanded in 1997 when the two clubs merged against the will of both sets of supporters, only for the new club to keep the colours and name of LASK. Blau-Weiss had to start again at the bottom of the pyramid with a lot of grass roots support and this is the first time that the two teams have met in the league since. They don't like each other, to put it mildly.

So, against this backdrop, form could easily fly out the window, I reckon, and I wouldn't put any money on the outcome.

I would have thought among the easier ways to manipulate the figures would be through club merchandise... a handful of outlets stores in the Mid East suddenly are selling 100,000 shirts a month anonymously funded, of course.

      Hart, (cheapest keeper priced)
Baines/Cole (whoever cheaper), Riise, Shittu (QPR), J Collins, cheapest Stoke defender likely to start

Lamps, Silva (capt GW1), O’Hara, Albrighton, Buzsaky

      Bent, RVP, Suarez

      B. Torres or RVP to start the season?

Since you got Lamps it makes sense to have RVP not Torres. I think RVP is my number one forward pick if he is not injured and Lamps the number one Chelsea attacker although depends on the difference in price between Malouda and Lampard which imo will be less than last season.

Yeah, I think it's worth putting up with RVP's fixtures for the first 3, just to make sure you have him for the golden run that follows it. In my opinion you want to be aiming to use the gameweek 4 transfer to bring in ANOTHER Arsenal attacker, probably whichever of the midfielders has made the biggest impact.

If you plan to get RVP in Gameweek 4 and there's an injury in your team Gameweek 3, that will have been a very aviodable points hit that you have to take. The dangers of overplanning. Plus last year, as others have pointd out, he scored pretty well in the three fixtures that open this season.

Won't fit in, you'd be left with almost exactly £0K for your cheap keeper and defender.
The front-line alone is going to be almost a third of your budget.

I plan on going for a forward line worth almost a third of my own budget. I just think that Rooney, RVP, Bent, and maybe Aguero will be the people to back early on.

It will mean saving up a transfer before week 3 though, to increase the liquidity of my team.

            12.0, 8.5, 5.0, 5.5, 4.5

            9.0, 11.5, 10.0

            That equate to 103.5

Usually you can fit 3 big guns into a team, you have 4/5 which is just not realistic imo

How many people do you think will have got bored of waiting for FPL to open and will play another game instead?

Not necessarily the hardcore players but the casual's that only play 1 game?

Instead or as well.... I'm betting there will be 2mil+ players (teams) in FPL again.
