Last season’s top two go head-to-head at the Etihad this evening as Gameweek 2 is brought to its conclusion. Both City and Liverpool go in search of a second successive win, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to assess our options in midfield and attack, with Raheem Sterling, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Daniel Sturridge looking to get amongst the goals once again.

Aguero remains on the bench for City, however, as Manuel Pellegrini makes just one change from the side that defeated Newcastle last Sunday. The City boss hands Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko the chance to lead the line again, then, whilst Pablo Zabaleta is drafted in at right-back, with Gael Clichy swapping over to the other flank as Aleksandar Kolarov drops out.

Brendan Rodgers makes a couple of alterations to the XI that started against Southampton last time around. New signing Alberto Moreno is handed a debut at left-back, with Glen Johnson shifting to the right of defence as Javier Manquillo drops out. Elsewhere, Joe Allen comes in for Lucas in the centre of the park.

Still think Dzeko is the forward of choice to accompany Aguero.

Form or not Jovetic is the more rotation risk imo.

Not dropping Rooney, and Cesc + Ivanovic could be enough from Chelsea, Aguero looks hungry and that's a very dangerous thing. He's the only guy in the league that I'm genuinely terrified of not owning when he's playing well and getting fitter..

I think those writing Liverpool off for the season are a bit premature. They were in that game, and probably had the better of it for the first 30 minutes, but failed to really capitalize, and then again had the best of it after the Aguero blitz until the injury spree. They were away at last year's champions, and arguably the best team in the league, almost unanimously one of the best two. And they still have players to come in, and new signings still gelling.

Sure, they're probably not a team fighting for the title again this season, but I didn't personally expect them to be. City and Chelsea are a fair way ahead of everybody else from my viewpoint, but third is a definite possibility. With a young squad and a lot of new signings, I think that'd be very good for them.

I agree, just lacked the cutting edge and that little bit of luck. Unfortunately for them, Manchester City have that. Liverpool had it last season, his name was Luis Suarez. Daniel Sturridge is a good player don't get me wrong, but I don't think he can do it all on his own. Whether Mario Balotelli is the player to fill that void is the big question and that is something I'll look forward to finding out.

There's nothing lucky about holding Jovetic for another week. Aguero may have scored opening gameweek, but he did only play 5 minutes, and there was good reason for that as well. It wasn't incredibly straightforward to tell that Jovetic would start, but it was the scenario which made most sense.
