Obtaining a better balance to your squad is fundamental to Fantasy success. It’s all very well selecting the likes of Frank Lampard and Robin Van Persie but if such luxury choices leave you rummaging around the bargain basement for players that offer little returns, it’s perhaps time for a re-think.

Since the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 game launched on late Thursday evening, we’ve been working away in the background and, after many hours of number-crunching, have produced our first set of Projected Points Returns for the upcoming season.

The factors taken into consideration with our Projections are varied- past performance, team tactics, possible rotation, the impact of new signings, susceptibility to injury, the new FPL Bonus Points system and even January 2012β€˜s African Cup of Nations come into the equation. As pre-season continues and the season unfolds, we will update these figures on a regular basis to offer an up-to-date reflection of each player’s potential going into Gameweek one. Our full list of “Projections” will be released on the Members Area early next week but, over a series of articles, we’re going to start to dissect them right here and now for our Members.

Our aim is to help shape your Fantasy squad for the upcoming campaign with a series of articles highlighting those players who come out favourably in one of the most vital categories- value per Fantasy pound. By identifying the likely returns on offer next season, we pick our way through the positions and look, in the main, at the low-to-mid-price candidates who will hopefully provide that all-important balance required for your Fantasy squad ahead of the start of next season.

We kick off by turning our attentions to the top ten goalkeepers…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I'm thinking of Wild Carding after GW3 as well. 3 weeks may be enough to get a decent idea on form, plus there will no doubts be a few injuries in the International matches + make some decent profit.

Albrighton, Tchoiy, Mulumbu, Etherington, Pennant, Duff, Ben Arfa, Hoolahan, Brunt, Moses, Cabaye, O Hara, Taarabt. There are loads of midfielders around that price or slightly cheaper that people have been suggesting. It seems that nearly everyone is having trouble deciding on the midfield.

    RMT:

    Given - Ruddy

    Kompany - Rafael - Alcaraz - Simpson - Orr

Lampard - VDV - Albrighton - Ben Arfa - Dyer

    RVP - Suarez - Zamora

A bit sketchy in defence? Maybe downgrade VDV and boost defence? What's your thoughts?

Dear all, as a regular user of the site, but occasional poster, I thought that I'd contribute a bit of knowledge about my team Norwich in return for picking your brains for the rest of the season!

I'd anticipate the regular early season starting line up as...

    Ruddy
    Martin Barnett Whitbread Tierney
    Bennett Johnson Fox/Crofts Hoolahan
    Vaughan Holt

This could equally be a 4-2-3-1 with the two wingers and hoolahan rotating behind Holt.

Free kicks wise, Fox usually took them last season, but if hes not in the team ive heard Bennett has a good delivery. Holt will be on pens but doesnt take free kicks.

Potential wise, I'd strongly avoid our defence, I don't see many clean sheets this season regardless of opponent or home/away. Midfield wise, Bennett/Pilkington when fit could have potential, and Johnson is not bad value at 4.5, has a good engine and shot and may well be a key player.

I see Hoolahan in a lot of teams, but personally I'd avoid him, he is a poor mans David Silva, and a decent player, but when man marked/singled by good opponents he does tend to be contained. Also, when influential, he is often the Modric playing the second assist.

Holt may well be a decent choice, with pens, as captain, and also the focal point of the team. If we win, I think he will pick up the majority of bonus points, and with the early season fixtures and momentum from last season he would be the pick of the squad.

Helpful. And Holt is the only Norwich player I'd touch with a barge-pole, totally agree with it...

Poor mans David Silva as in style of player, close control, neat touches and a creative element, he is a good footballer but not any where near the style or quality of him.

I'll be shocked if Naughton starts the season at right back barring an injury to Martin, who was 2nd or 3rd in the player of the season last year, cant remember which, but he got my vote. He was excellent, especially seeing as we played a diamond midfield therefore he was consistantly exposed. Gets forward a lot, but I think with a change in formation this season to 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 he will not get forward as much. Lambert isn't naive enough to leave our full backs 1 vs 2 in the Premiership, hence the wide man transfer policy.

They'l miss De Vries, who was a big part of their play distributing to the midfield from the back. Pratley was physical and would have been good in the prem, and Borini got them over the line.

Will be interested to see who they sign before the big kick off.

Well its a toss up between Ward and Whitbread really, with De Laet hovering potentially in there too.

Barnett has pace so I think he'l play, but Whitbread really impressed towards the end of last season and is reportedly getting a new contract. That was an iffy one though for sure, time will tell, either way I wouldnt get them tho!

I have a feeling Rooney is going to run riot against West Brom. They had one of the worst defensive records last season, so I can easily see him netting 2+ with the supplies coming from Nani/Young/Valencia/Park. He's the only sure-fire captain for GW1 in my opinion.

So Taarabt's staying is he? That changes everything. What do people think of the following:
    Given Kenny
    Cashley Kompany Hughes Simpson Brown
    VDV Lamps Taarabt O'Hara Sessegnon
    Holt Zamora Bent

Feel like I'm missing out on having Rooney/RVP up front but can't stretch it that far.

perhaps VDV downgrade to fund rooney/rvp. Then try to get VDV post GW7?

Hmm I just think with the pricing of the midfielders that I'd rather have the extra funds for switching to Silva/Liverpool MFer if that seems like a good idea. Same argument can be made about switching to Rooney/RVP though.

just depend on who you think will score better VDV, RVP or rooney. I fancy RVP as he proved in DGW last year against lpool and spurs he got a good haul, though that may change depending on Fab/Nasri..

    Cech Ruddy
    Rafael Kompany Hughes Orr Simpson
    Malouda Yaya O'Hara Tarrabt Dyer
    RVP Zamora Suarez
    0.5m spare

Obviously this depends on if Rafael holds RB spot, if not Cech/Ruddy can be a <10m combo and Rafael to Luiz/Cole.
    Thoughts?

Not a fan of Rafael just yet, would wait a couple of weeks to see if he's first choice. Cashley and Given/Kenny would be better than Rafael and Cech/Ruddy imo.

Yeah my final choice will be made after charity shield. I was just toying with ways to gets City/chelsea mid and defence cover. I had given/al habsi with cole. Which 4.5 rotates better with given, kenny or al habsi?

    RTM please...

    Given, Kenny

    Hughes, Kompany, Samba, Figueroa, Simpson

Silva, Lampard, Murphy, Taarabt, Ben Arfa

    Rooney, Zamora, Rodallega

I am awaiting to see if Luiz will play first team for chelsea if so:

Lampard for Malouda and Figueroa for Luiz

    What do you think?

Murphy I chose him due to the fact he takes pens and free kicks...

I've got £6.5m if I take out Murphy....

        Albrighton or Gamst Pedersen

I think Albrighton, O'Hara, Sessegnon, Barton are good options at that price. Dont touch MGP, he didnt play much under Kean, I had him in my 15 to much frustration at back end of season.

Some of it doesnt make sense alas. The guy is very good, but too big for his boots. Hes only just rejoined twitter too!

Fair play if he wants to go to a bigger club, just do it so we can get a replacement in!
