West Brom have this evening announced the loan signing of Ben Foster from Birmingham. The stopper joins on a one-year deal with Boaz Myhill moving in the opposite direction.

Foster’s return to the Premier League is not only significant news for the Baggies camp, it’s also a huge development for Fantasy managers.

Foster proved a major Fantasy asset whilst at Birmingham last season, despite suffering relegation to the Championship. He kept 9 clean sheets but also topped the rankings for saves scoring 32 Save Points in 38 starts. That allowed him to emerge as a strong value option with an initial 4.5 price tag in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, earning him recognition in our Fantasy team of the season.

We now await Foster’s valuation throughout the games with a price tag of 4.5-5.0 expected in the FPL. That would see Foster earn plenty of initial squad investment – there’s little doubt that he will have plenty of opportunity to fetch a strong Save Point total at the Hawthorns. However we should also consider that the Baggies kept just 2 clean sheets last term – the lowest in the league.

The shrewd Fantasy manager will note that Foster works superbly in tandem with Villa’s Shay Given – another early favourite for the goalkeeping position in our squads. That particular pairing offer up a strong run of opponents and fixtues (ful BLA WOL nor NEW FUL WIG WOL WBA LIV NOR BOL swa qpr WIG bla) right up until Gameweek 17. That’s by no means the only combination available however – Foster’s arrival back in the Premier League will now cause many of us to reconsider our options between the sticks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

De Gea is NOT guaranteed to start and has HORRID fixtures, go for a more stable GK

Luiz will probably start in front of Alex, but it's still a risk.

Bothroyd is a waste of money, try and get someone more likely to start and score like Ba, Zamora, Holt, Graham

    Hart / Ruddy
    Enrique/ Baines/ Kompany/ Simpson/ Taylor
    Lamps/ Taarabt/ N'Zogs/ Sinclair/ Moses
    Rooney/ Rodallega/ Holt

    1.0 in Bank

Enrique based only on transfer to Liverpool or I'll switch him out.

    Hart>Given take extra 2.0 plus existing 1.0 and do Rod>Suarez GW3

    Rooney>RVP GW4

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated???

How many of you are getting Aguero? I personally rate him as one of the top 5 attackers in the world but he might suffer from "rooney-syndrome" of playing too deep and not being a great fantasy prospect...

He won't play too deep. With Silva in the whole, he'll either be an out-and-out attacker or a partner to someone in a 4-4-2.

      Could be huge.

I see Andy Wilkinson played for Stoke in the Uefa Cup. Is he likely to be first choice right back for Stoke as he could be an option for a cheap defender at 4m.

Option A : David Silva + Darren Bent

or Option B : Clint Dempsey + Sergio Aguero

Additionally, I'm also playing a version of the game with friends where the aim is to get the LOWEST score having spent your 100 points. (It's a lot harder than you think). There are no transfers in this game, so if a player leaves after 1st deadline/gets long term injury then you've lucked out.

    Here's my BAD team :

    Almunia (c) ; Allsop

    Lescott ; Beye ; Robinson ; Tamas ; King

    Fabregas ; D. Fletcher ; Barry ; Diaby ; S. Petrov

    Tevez ; Saha ; Owen

I would think if a player is transfered out and no TFs, you've lucked in if minimum score is the intent. Is this because you have loads of teams, or you don't think you're good enough to get it right?

Ha... a lovely little backhand insult.

You really do need at least 1 big name player to get it up to the 100. I originally was going for Gerrard, with a backline full of injury prone & past it defenders aka Rio & Carra. But if they do play & keep clean sheets then that's points wasted. Therefore awful defence is the way forward. Lescott is a big risk, but I need a decent priced defender in there... unless I chuck Gerrard back in & hope he has another injury plagued season.

But with the situation of Cesc & Tevez I couldn't ignore it, plus it wastes nearly 1/4 of my budget on just 2 players.

Also remember. I can't make any transfers after August 10. So it's pretty easy to include likes of Danny Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, Krancjar, etc. But if they go to another team where they are likely to get games then I'm in trouble...

Saha & Owen is a perfect striker combo IMO. They'll play less than half League's games between them & cost quite a bit

Is your strikeforce at the expense of a big hitting midfielder. There is some logic in having at least one 10m midfielder, just not sure who. There's only really Lamps, Malouda, Silva and VDV.

Yet to see an RMT with Nasri, Walcott or Arshavin.

but he does get a lot of touches, successful passes and tackles, so there is bonus potential. Plus theres the city clean sheet threat. And he's a manager's favourite.

Perhaps he's not much of an explosive points scorer, but reliable for 3-5 points each week, which isnt to be sniffed at...

Reckon Aguero could be amazing if Tevez leaves. He's one of the best players in the world, and I have no doubt he'll be a great signing for City. Can't see him not doing well.

N'Zogbia should do well, he's a greedy player so it makes little difference who he plays for. Have Villa actually signed him yet? Aguero quality but he's coming to a new country, new league.

Didn't see it, but having bowlers who can pull out a score when the chips are down is vital. That's why we are just about the best side in the world.

There are two main reasons why England are the top side in the world imo:

                Andrew strauss and Andy flower.

surely he will mainyl be favoured, Alex's place has never really been cemented

however there is a possibility AVB will go with the more physical Alex for the most physical match of the season - away at Stoke

    Right draft 2

    Given / Moreira

Briggs Salgado Kompany Kelly Enrique (if goes to Liv, in which case Kelly > Jag)

    Nzog Lamps Downing Sinclair Sess
Plan is Lamps out for VDV after week 5 and strengthen frontline

    Bent Suarez Graham

(never thought I’d have 3 Swans!!)

    Struggling to get a front 3 I’m happy with…

Bent-Carroll-Zamora ATM, have 2mil in the bank, but think I really need to upgrade my def with 1mil… Thoughts?

Rooney has looked good during pre season, carroll looks set to have good supply in the form of downing,Adam, Suarez and co so should have plenty of chances… And bents always stable… I’d like rvp but he is injury prone and what with cesc as good as gone wondering how he will fair!

That looks good to me, I can't afford a 12m striker at present, but if I could I'd go RVP, dont think it matters whether Cesc is in or not, the supply will come (eventually!!!)

villa's dressing room has not been the most harmonious recently, plenty of fall-outs last season
although its a new manager, n'zoggy is greedy, gobby and ill-disciplined - it really could go either way for him
