Fond of sand dunes and salty air, Granville returns from “avin’ it large” in Ibiza, to join me once again in the ScoutCast studio.

The ageing hedonist and I rinse through the regulars – giving our views on the week’s transfer bandwagons, whilst previewing the weekend and giving a shout-out to those managers blazing trails atop the various Fantasy Football Scout leagues.

Inevitably, we also moan about our Gameweek mishaps, discuss the latest development in the United revolution and surf the waves being generated by the Fantasy Premier League price tweaks.

Drop the beats via this link or “roll another fat one” via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Raheem's fixtures are too tempting; Ramsey looks slightly off the boil

  2. Best year yet for Baines?

Baines hasn't been this cheap since 2009/10, 5 years ago!! But is he worth it?

These are his PPG (Points per Game) values from the previous 4 seasons.

    .
    Season........PPG

    ..13/14 ........ 5.28
    ..12/13 ........ 4.66
    ..11/12 ........ 4.06
    ..10/11 ........ 4.68

    .
To put these into perspective, Lukaku achieved a PPG of 5.79 last season, is £2.1m more, and uses up a striker spot, over a defender slot.

As you can see, Martinez seems to be making a difference in Baines' output.

So why is he cheaper this season when his PPG has risen? FPL mainly take into account overall points totals, which took a dip after Baines played 32 games instead of 38. This is where we have the advantage.

As Martinez's style continues to take effect, we could potentially see his highest scoring season, and at his lowest price for 5 seasons.

Here are the stats, do with them as you will...
    More stats from Tina: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/09/08/dont-ignore-baines/

The most fun player to own in the back 7 in fpl.. can see less CS's this year but imagine if Everton get more penalties than the ridiculously low number they've had the past few years 😯

Aguero. Aguero is number 1 out of 3 strikers with jovetic injured and Dzeko falling instead of scoring. Rooney is number 3 out of 3 strikers after being pushed back and more likely to get assists than goals.

    This week: play

    A) Coloccini (HUL)

    or

    B) Naylor (SOU)

I think Hull have a good attacking threat and Newcastle are looking shaky. However, the bookies favour a Newcastle clean sheet over a Swansea clean sheet.

If you do wanna drop a Chelsea player, it could only be Ivanovic, really, I think.
Adding Spurs to that midfield would make it worse IMO, so really only options are Adebayor or a defender; and out of those, I'd perhaps say get rid of Ivano or Moreno for a nailed-on Spurs defender?

Advice please guys. I've been tinkering over 2 WC options for a couple of days and keep fluctuating between the 2.

    A)

    Begovic - McCarthy

    Rafael* - Clyne - Taylor - Duff - Moore

Fabregas - Di Maria - Sterling* - Siggy - Boyd

    Aguero - Costa - Pelle*

    0.1m

    B)

    Begovic - McCarthy

    Manquillo* - Clyne - Taylor - Duff - Moore

Fabregas - Di Maria - Siggy - Chadli* - Boyd

    Aguero - Costa - Rooney*

    0.0m

I'm leaning towards A at the moment because it gives me options for downgrades, Aguero > Falcao, Pelle > Welbeck etc. But for some reason I fear not owning Rooney...and Chadli to an extent.

Staying back still equals further forward than pretty much every other full back in the league. Yes they won't keep liars of clean sheets but fact Baines is on set pieces, pens and still gets forward plenty makes me think he's worth it, just those two tough fixtures that are off putting.

      2. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years

Yes..it means they got a slapped wrist for going over the top..Avg positions are a bit misleading..the real key is how far forward the go when they do go forward..nonetheless it all build to show just how much they go forward compared to others

Coleman is soooooo dangerous attacking the back post in open play when Everton are attacking from the left. He's so apt to getting in position to head in goals on those deep crosses. He's a joy.

My season has been dependent one single teams so far. I've not had this before.

3 Chelsea attackers (Haz, Fab, Costa): Chelsea were off to a stormer in their first 2 fixtures and that shot me to my highest ever FPL rank.

3 United attackers (Roo, Mata, RVP): I got rid of my Chelsea trio just before GW 3 (disaster). Brought in RVP as a differential captain for his games against 3 promoted sides. The team I support helped destroy me, no goal against Burnley & captain RVP had blanked twice in a row against promoted teams! Dropped by 900+ K in ranking in just 1 week!

3 Southampton players (Forster, Tadic, Pelle): WC team. Saving my season really hangs on Southampton firing over the next 8-ish weeks (great fixtures) and also keeping hold of their defensive solidity. Pelle will be my differential captain this week. Tadic & Pelle are pretty differential and have the potential to do what the Chelsea players did for me in the first 2 weeks of the season!

    Begovic (Gilks)
    Lovren Terry Ferdinand (Chester Wisdom)
    Fabregas Sterling Ramsey Siggy (Marney)
    Costa Rooney Welbeck

    1 FT, 0.8 ITB

    A) Chester > Bertrand
    B) Terry > Baines
    C) Save

Am all set to save this week, because if I was to make 1 FT I would get rid of Chester first because he's not playing. I reckon my defense would be pretty weak after doing only Terry > Baines (Chester, Ferdinand, Wisdom not very good options). So I would have to bring Bertrand in, but I won't play him over Terry this week anyway. Is this making sense to anyone, better to save and reasses next week when I'll be more flexible in case of other injuries?

    Right, WC settled. GW5 team:

    Begovic

    Rafael - Duff - Clyne

    Sterling - Fabregas - Siggy - ADM

    Costa - Pelle - Aguero (C)
    ---------------------------------------------
    McCarthy - Boyd - Taylor - Moore

You must have a pretty low TV mate

Wouldn't like that defense spearheaded by a non nailed Rag in Rafael. Leicester will score this week too.

Front seven decent. Pelle not for me

101.4m with 0.1m ITB. Didn't get on the Siggywagon till now.

Rafael is/should be nailed based on performance in the last game. He was superb and dangerous going forward. Valencia came on and passed the ball backwards as usual. 2 playing cheapies as backup anyway.

Pelle is a bit of a punt, won't claim to know much about him but I like the look of Southampton and they have superb fixtures. Easy enough to downgrade to Welbeck in a couple of weeks if he doesn't perform.

      United fan.

I think Pelle could potentially match or beat Rooney blow for blow over the next 8 weeks. Even if he doesn't, he'll the best value player in the game for the next 8 weeks imo - that's a very nice purple patch. (Yes, even better value than Siggy as Siggy plays Everton, Arsenal & City (consecutively) in the same run as Southampton's sexy fixtures).

I love that man. Think he'll do well, seems to have a knack for just burying his chances and popping up in the right places. Good in the air, good at poaching, good service at soton. Think he's a good pick.

        I'm actually thinking 4 or 5.

Brace against QPR or Sunderland possible.

Goals against Swansea, Stoke or Hull look pretty decent shouts too (all 6+ out of 10 likelihood to score imo).

In my opinion, Pelle is "essential" if you're on a WC. I think this is the perfect time to hop on board and reap rewards.

        My current front 8 are

        Hazard - Sterling - Eriksen - Sigurdsson - Marney
        Costa - Rooney - Dzeko

1FT and £1.1 ITB so for me it's either Dzeko --> Pellè now, and then either Hazard -> Cesc or Rooney --> Aguero next GW?

Dzeko to Pelle now for sure imo.

Next week I think I'd go for Eriksen to Tadic in all honesty.

Southampton fixtures are SWEET and both players look very very solid picks for the "long"-ish term.

Okay thanks! Already have Clyne in defence if that makes you happy too 😉

Worried about Hazard, Eriksen and Rooney in that order; so not sure whether to drop Hazard for Cesc or change Eriksen to Chadli/Tadic/Ramsey tbh!

It makes me very happy haha. I've got Forster, Tadic & Pelle in my WC team.

Eriksen had the chance to prove himself. He has horrible fixtures in GW 6-8 whilst Tadic faces QPR & Sunderland at home, that could potentially be a huge difference of points over a 3 week period!

I really do see what you're saying and I can hardly fail to ignore it; I'm just worried that Southampton might not pull through in all those games to warrant 3 players from them. I can't say how much it hurts me to say this to you xD

But I think I am sold on Dzeko --> Pellè for now 100%.

Any thoughts on who I should captain?

Haha fair enough. I had 3 Chelsea attackers in the first 2 weeks and it shot my to my highest ever FPL rank. To me Southampton are the ones who will bring big green arrows back to my season haha 😀

Captain choice is very tough. I think your front 8 could be stunning this week.

I'm captaining Pelle as a differential.

                  I have:

                  Ramsey, Sterling, Tadic, Siggy

                  Costa, Aguero, Pelle

I think all 3 forwards are likely to score to be honest, particularly Costa. BUT I think Pelle has a much higher chance of scoring a brace than those 2 this week.

I think I would captain Rooney. Nice balance between "very likely to score 1" and "nice chance of scoring a brace".

Haha I had 2 attackers and sadly one of them was Hazard, and not Fabregas. That really set me back big time, unfortunately! I do hope that what we're hoping to come true does come true now!

I agree, I definitely think that Pellè is more likely to score a brace out of your 3 forwards; and if he pulls it off, that differential would be fantastic, knowing many will captain one of Costa or Aguero!

Rooney's what I had in mind too; so now I'd say it's a toss up between Rooney and Pellè but I think I'll wait last minute to decide that!

Thanks very much for your help, mate! Hope to see you around soon! 🙂

No probs bud, good luck this week!

I'd defo go for Rooney this week. Will without a doubt a score or assist imo. Pelle will either score or not (very unlikely to assist this week imo). Rooney also much more likely to score 1 or 2 goals this week for me. He's also 3 times more likely for a hat trick than pelle imo.

My defense is questionable at the moment.
With my FT I was planning on shifting one (likely Kelly) to one of Duff Naylor or Chambers.

I was wondering, what are Chester's chances of starting this week? I have a handful of moves I would like to do over the next few weeks and the free could prove to be very valuable. So, worth it to bring in a new defender, yay or nay?

    Team for this week

    Ivan Clyne Chester (Moore Kelly)
    Haz Ramsey Sterling Siggy (Marney)
