It’d be fair to say that when the pre-season player lists were revealed last July, Stewart Downing was far from our thoughts as a viable Fantasy option. A goal and two assists over 2,507 minutes in 2013/14 highlights his lack of impact in a West Ham outfit that scored just 40 times over the entire campaign, and despite reports suggesting Sam Allardyce’s side were set to go on the attack this time around, we were anything but convinced.

After five Gameweeks, though, the Hammers are starting to deliver. A 3-1 win over Liverpool means they have now scored nine times so far – averaging of 1.8 goals per match compared to last year’s 1.05 – and, from a Fantasy perspective at least, Downing has been the player to benefit most. A total of 27 points is just six off the top of the midfield standings in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game and sees the 5.5-priced Downing sandwiched in between Aaron Ramsey and Eden Hazard, on 28 and 25 points respectively.

With a goal, two assists and six bonus points accrued, Downing’s prospects could be boosted further by a switch in formation which afforded him the role in β€œthe hole” behind Enner Valencia last weekend.

In our next members article of the week, we turn to the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) tables in order to assess the 2%-owned Downing’s displays in comparison to the season gone by.

For those who aren’t familiar with them, KPI tables are designed to use a series of key stats to allow our members to track form or changes in player performance. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain whether a player’s form has improved or declined. As mentioned in last summer’s introductory article, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

True but Pardew should at least be given time to work with the players that were brought in over the summer, Cabella, Aarons and now Riviere (maybe even Cisse) are performing well and are only going to slowly grow, plus we are yet to see Siem de Jong would is arguably the best player they signed in the window. If a new manager came in these players might go to waste due to the implementing of a new style of play etc..

    Forster /. Heston

    Hazard / sterling / siggy / adm

    Costa / ulloa / pelle

£4.2 itb. I know it's ALOT to have itb left over but I think a budget defense is the way forward apart from baines and ivan and those strikers have decent fixtures and are on form.

Would do Baines Chadli to Cheapie and Fab for -8

Awful lot for Fab I think!!

Evening. Any advice on this lot?

Used a FT getting in ADM in for Mata.

    Krul Mannone
    Terry Moreno Chambers (Wisdom Baird)
    Ramsey ADM Siggy Sterling (Cattermole)
    Costa Rooney Naismith

    Not convinced with Naismith/Ramsey/ Krul

Naismith to Ulloa or Ramsey to Cesc or Terry/Moreno to Clyne

would seem so but with the b team. chester mcshane and bruce, and it hasn't worked. which is bad for the 3 CDs involved and bad for the system i'd say.

I've got a feeling they are preparing for the weekend. 352 with Chester restored.

I am and he is. Might just give him one more chance cos I want Chambers really but his next two fixtures are not great anyway.

Against a 10 man Levante in a 5-0 win. He was just subbed off for Munir.

I have Di Maria, I don't have anybody from Arsenal.

Rooney -> Welbeck worth a hit, possibly?

I don't see Spurs keeping up with Arsenal. Unfortunately it's not that obvious for me.
