Our next Members article looking at the idea of “value” sees Forwards come under the microscope. With a fresh revision of players last weekend in light of factors such as transfers and pre-season tactics, we’ve tweaked the Projected totals to give you an up-to-date reflection on our thinking. While many of our top ten value forwards are lower-priced options that perhaps may be more suited to rotation, the kind opening prices afforded to the likes of Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie propels a couple of FPL big-hitters firmly into our thoughts.
Nice goal by Mata tonight.

Thought id test the water,
Hart - solid
Moreira - 4m, will play
gibbs - cheap for a top4, starter
simpson - good rotation, 4m, will play
kompany - solid
Bardsley - good rotation, attacking def
Briggs - 4m, attacking def, good rotation
VDV - possible captain, solid if not injured
Moses - potential, cheap
N'zog - solid
Modric - if he goes to chelsea
Dyre - 4.5m garenteed start,
Rodallega - good fixtures, value will shoot up, odewingy in gw4
Rooney - solid
Aguero - fixture, swap for carroll or swarez early on
feel free to rip me, but these r my current thoughts,,,Open ControlsGibbs is a fool's errand ... and Arse being top 4 is speculative at best 🙂
VDV is already carrying an injury/niggle ... so 90 mins. a doubt.
Seems you have 1.5 defenders (Gibbs the .5), 1 captain choice with questionable minutes. Aguero and Modric are big unknowns right now.
You'll be re-making that team in minutes or hours. No longer than hours.
Just seems to me that you need to minimize your risks ... put 2 or 3 'maybe' players on the squad, no more. By my count, you have 8.Open Controls
RMT Please...
Al-Habsi (Kenny)
Enrique Briggs Kompany Taylor Hanley
Taarabt VDV Silva Malouda Moses
Caroll Bent Zamora
Thanks in advance!Open ControlsDowngrade Zamora and upgrade Kenny and one of your CB's.
Open Controlszamora is a good pick for the first few games, imo

good stuff, someone else with faith in briggs, think hes a steal at 4m this now

Enrique moving to Liverpool? I think I'm going to have a wee look around to see if there are any good odds for Newcastle to be relegated this season...
Open ControlsHi, so im hearing these new stats will mark players differently when it comes to bonus points - the ea index in what way is that? - if someone scores one and gets an assist they will bonus just like last years systmen or it based on how many miles and coverage a midfielder does during a game? - any advice would be appreciated.
Open ControlsIt seems like it's more to do with goals and assists, but no one's exactly sure.
Open ControlsIt's based on who gets the most points on the EA player performance index. You get points for goals, assists and clean sheets, but also for "time on the pitch in a successful team" and for "positive influences on a winning performance (e.g. shots, tackles, clearances saves)"...
Have a look at last seasons top performers for an idea of who did well last time out: http://www.premierleague.com/page/PlayerPerformanceIndex
Interestingly Hart and Cech came 11th and 12th, above Wayne Rooney, on their overall scores. What these stats don't tell us is how often the players were the highest scoring in a match, i.e. how often they would have been awarded a bonus.Open Controls
I can stretch my starting midfielder budget to 5.5
Would people still pick Moses?
Tean;
Given (Ruddy)
Hughes - Kompany - Cashley (simpson - alcaraz)
Taraabt - VDV - N'Zogbia - 5.5 to spend, Moses? (tiote)
Rooney - RVP - Rodallega until GW4.
I'll probably switch out either Rooney or RVP for Suarez after the first couple of games.Open ControlsWhat's the news on Briggs (Fulham)?
Is he an OOP player?Open ControlsHe has played both LB and LW lately but not a nailed on starter.
Open Controls
Does anybody know the scoop on Enrique and modric at the moment??? If they are definitely on the move I might just need to squeeze them in
Open ControlsEnrique very close, would be in most teams when it's offical I guess.
I really don't get this Modric thing. I assume you're talking about him going to Chelsea? I've seen alot this summer many people saying he would be a great FPL player at Chelsea. Why? He's points usually comes from bonus points, surely he would get fewer of those at Chelsea?Open Controls
Who are the best rotations for goalkeepers season long???
I'm seeing a lot of given/ruddy love but I can't bring myself to do it!Open ControlsNo point looking at the whole season since you will WC 100% in january, and possibly before that with the first WC.
"Perfect rotation" is overated, find some GK's that will get CS and saves.Open Controls
Very hard question, please help...
Bent - Malouda - Downing or Rooney - Silva - Nzogbia ??? Their are at the same price...Open ControlsBut than only cover for Chelsea is A Cole.....
Open ControlsYeah, Well if you can try and fit in some chelsea coverage. I have silva malouda Rooney and RVP so just keep playing with your squad and try and get one that ticks most boxes.
Open ControlsSilva, Malouda, Rooney and RVP 😯
Open ControlsRVP's a good call, Arsenal could destroy Newcastle on the first day but dont like his next 2 after that
Open Controls
I can - Bent and Malouda for Rooney and Nzogbia if I squeze 1 milion....?
Open ControlsThats a good option as well, Personally I wouldnt get rid of Rooney but its up to you
Open ControlsSo, what are you thinking of
Given - Ruddy
Kompany - A Cole - Orr - Simpson - Huges
Taarbat - Malouda - Moses - Sessegnon - Downing
Rvp - Holt - Bent
Or Huges-Taarbat-Downing TO Bramble-Sinclair-Silva ????Open Controls
Anyone clued up on the Wolves goalkeeping situation? Has de Vries been brought in as back-up or as first choice?
Open ControlsThe other side of the de Vries transfer is, how much of Swansea's defensive solidity last year was down to him? 10 goals conceded at home all season has me looking at them for cheap options, but together with the step up to the Premiership, losing de Vries might scupper that idea.
Open Controls
Rmt lads cheers all advice welcome
Given/ruddy
Alcaraz/Orr/cashley/kompany/brown
N zog/silva/malouda/Moses/dyer
Caroll/Rooney/holt
CheersOpen Controlsrock solid. but, very similar to most around here.
Open ControlsSame as most really. Not sure on Carroll though.
Open ControlsYa I suppose I must take a few gambles I might get rid of n zog and kompany due to de amount dat hav dem
Open Controls
Al-Habsi, De Vries
Kompany, Richards, Simpson, Orr, Gabiddon
Silva, Taarabt, Sinclar, Benayoun, Moses
Rooney, Suarez, RVPOpen Controlsahh, only one will ever play. might swap Gabiddon for Briggs.
Open Controls
First time I have used this site but love my FPL here in Aus. Appreciate your thoughts on my team
Given / Ruddy
Cole, Kompany, Oshea, Olsson, Simpson
VDV, Silva, Albrighton, Sinclair, Moses
RVP, Suarez, Holt
Tossing up between Albrighton and Taarabt. If Suarez doesn't play first up will look at Carrol or Bent.
Do you worst with me I can take it and want to smash my mates in my league.Open ControlsVDV might be injured ... or at least 'niggled' enough to not play 90 minutes, so you might want to have a think about that. He also has abysmal fixtures weeks 2-5.
Between Al and Taar: toss up. Al got some prem experience, but - even with soft fixtures, I worry about the shambles of a team that Villa might be. Taar was top performer last year, nailed on to start (though hasn't played much this preseason), but I worry how he'll do in the Prem. For me, I'd go Sessegnon.
RVP also has some tough games weeks 2 & 3, although he's a FPL banker. The 'unrest' at Arse bothers me, though. If Suarez seems likely to be out, I'd go Carroll. In fact, why chance it? Start with Carroll and slide over to Suarez when things settle.Open Controls
Given – Ruddy
Kompany – A Cole – Orr – Simpson – Huges
Taarbat – Malouda – Moses – Sessegnon – Downing
Rvp – Holt – Bent
Or Huges-Taarbat-Downing TO Bramble-Sinclair-Silva ????Open ControlsIn de half time league last year Blackburn came third overall ahead of Chelsea and arsenal @ 6/4 they surely will b beating wolves with poor away form at half time in ewood park seriously worth looking at wat are your views plz
Open ControlsPaul Robinson for the first 3 matches
Open Controls
Thoughts?
A. Malouda, Silva, Holt
or
B. Lamps, Sessegnon, Zamora
I'd go A easily if Malouda is nailed on...anyone mind telling me if he is?Open ControlsIs it even worth having Suarez for the first couple of games? what are the odds he will play at all in the first match?
Open ControlsI think he will, but the point is: how many of these players - that you've some questions about - are in your team?
Starting the year with VDV, Malouda, Suarez, Aguero could be a heartbreak waiting to happen, imo. Couple that with untested players - Taarabt, Holt, etc. - from the promoted teams and you have a situation that makes my ulcer angry.Open Controls
Rooney - RVP - Suarez....but I've had to switch Ashley Cole for Jose Enrique and Alcaraz for Orr (bench warmer)
Suarez replaced Rodallega.Open ControlsOh, and before I go - what's the latest on Hernandez? He took a knock or passed out and I heard he was supposed to be out for a few weeks. Looking like he will miss the start of the season?
Open Controls"The mild concussion suffered by Javier Hernandez, a concussion that rung a few alarm bells seems to have subsided slightly after a few reassuring words from Sir Alex Ferguson.
In fact, Sir Alex has stepped forward and re-iterated an earlier comment that dictated that Javier would not be considered for the first few games of the new season with Sir Alex wary of the fact he`s been on international duty and could be at risk of suffering from burn-out.
Re-iterating this point, Sir Alex had this to say after the win in the friendly fixture against Barcelona,
"Javier was always going to get a break until he did his proper pre-season."
"In a two week period now he`ll do some training but he won`t play." We`ll have him back in three to four weeks."
> Keep in mind that concussions can be wacky (perhaps he'll be all better sooner than expected) and that SAF is typically a cheeky monkey regarding injuries/lineups.Open Controls
RMT
Foster /- Given
Kompany, Hughes, Enrique /- Bramble, Simpson
VDV, Nzog, Sessegnon, Moses /- Sinclair
RVP(Vc), Rooney(C), BaOpen ControlsSessegnon seems to be in a lot of people's thoughts, mine included. Are we sure he's guaranteed that behind the striker role? I know Bruce has said he's at his best playing there, but they've signed a couple of strikers, is there no chance he'll play further back in some games in a 4-4-2? Or even be dropped?
Open ControlsWell he's one of Bruce's favourite players and Bruce seems to be expecting very big things from him so...
Open Controls
What are people concluding about goalies this season?
I'm caught in two minds between playing Given every week and having a 4.0 or spending the extra 0.5 on Kenny and rotating.
I know last season goalie rotation didn't work, and if that's the case, the best thing to do is go with Given and Moreira, but I dunno, I can't see that being the better choice long term...Open ControlsWas set on Schwarzer & Moreira with Dunne as Villa cover.
But with Enrique's imminent move to Pool i'm thinking of
Dunne & Malouda -> Enrique & Lampard.
Only problem is this puts me back to square one with keepers 😐Open ControlsI'd get Malouda over Lampard.
Go Enrique - Lampard and use the funds elsewhere.Open Controls
Given-Ruddy for me
Extremely cheap, and the games where I wouldn't want to play Given (GW4/8 specifically), Ruddy has very favorable fixtures.
Have you found an acceptable 4.5 mid by the way Camzy?Open ControlsI'm with Ephraim, but I really don't know. Ideally, I want a Norwich or QPR midfielder.
Surman, Bradley Johnson, Ephraim these guys look the most promising.
I wouldn't want to play Ruddy in any game home or away that's the thing... I'd rather just play Given away at Everton for example then Ruddy at home against West Brom.Open ControlsHelp me start a Bradley johnson bandwagon camzy! He was my fav. player at Leeds and knows how to strike a ball! Im prediciting a few goals from him this season
Open Controls
given/al habsi for me.
Open ControlsYeah that's not bad at all. One sticky GW 4, but other than that, they rotate well, and both are proven FPL point scorers.
Think I may go with that to diversify from having both Kenny and Orr at the back.Open Controlsya for my cheapie haven't decided on simpson or orr yet, guess it really won't matter much as i doubt i'll really start either, just auto-sub.
Open Controls
Al- Habsi
Baines Kompany Ivanovic
Taarabt Hoolahan Sess Toure
RVP Rooney Zamora
Subs : Given , Orr , Simpson , Ferguson
Shocking bench i know but i think after the first gw im gonna take out yaya for a 6.0 mid and use the 2.0 to upgrade another midfielder. Thoughts ?Open ControlsHey all – sorry to do this but a quick RMT, hopefully my first and last. My first post and FPL.
From GW1…
Al-Habsi (Given)
Rafael Kompany A Cole (Orr, Simpson)
Sessengon Malouda Silva O'Hara Taarabt
Rooney Zamora (Holt)
Unsure of Cole if he is worth the extra .5 over Ivanovich. Could potentially go:
A) Ivanovich - Albrighton
B) Cole - O'Hara
Was also thinking Toure could be a better value option than Silva?Open Controlswhat's the point of rmts right now with all the transfers still up in the air that can dramatically change practically all of our teams? why don't we just sit tight except for those players who are pegged and wait until the last three days when team sheets become more certain, injuries are up-to-date and most transfers done?
Open Controlswhat do you think about Aguero at man city ?
im thinking of playing Aguero for GW1,2,3 and go RVP GW4 onwardsOpen Controlswait and see how community shield goes first. i wouldn't like starting off w/somebody unproven and not adapted yet. also, w/their striking options and tevez still up in the air, hard to predict how mancini will start off. there are plenty of other striking options: rooney/rvp/bent/zamora/rodallega, etc...
Open Controls
What are people's thoughts on Riise ? Anyone going for him ?
Open Controlstoo rich for my blood when playing for a mid table team that'll leak goals.

Hi All,
Appreciate all the analysis that goes on about... looking forward to being apart of the FFS community
First attempt at completing the team - would appreciate any opinions/recommendations/criticisms
Cheers
Given (Al-Habsi)
Baines Kompany Hughes (Briggs Orr)
Albrighton Silva Dempsey Taarabt (Marveaux)
Van Persie Bent Holt
Team selected on first handful of fixtures for each side. A little concerned that there are no ManU, Chelski or 'Pool players in sight? Good thing or bad?Open Controls
