Our next Members article looking at the idea of โ€œvalueโ€ sees Forwards come under the microscope. With a fresh revision of players last weekend in light of factors such as transfers and pre-season tactics, weโ€™ve tweaked the Projected totals to give you an up-to-date reflection on our thinking. While many of our top ten value forwards are lower-priced options that perhaps may be more suited to rotation, the kind opening prices afforded to the likes of Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie propels a couple of FPL big-hitters firmly into our thoughts.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I have been having a bit of a morning fiddle (ooh er) experimenting at a purely GW 1-3 team and trying to cram some more high value players in - particularly from City, in then occurred to me: for those anticipating a fairly early wildcard City's fixtures aren't actually all that amazing - away at Bolton and Spurs in weeks 2 and 3. It would make sense to have attacking coverage for the Swansea game but beyond that I'd be happy with just Kompany if I was WCing GW4. Yet I've seen posts written by people planning a GW4 wildcard talking about having 3 City players, what am I missing?

Im considering 3 city players for GW 1. Kompany, Silva and Aguero as a punt. GW2 Aguero is transferred out for whoever plays out of Drogba and Torres.

Silva and Kompany is season keepers...

Holt is unproven so far and Norwich have been terrible pre-season!

Walters against Chelsea is just stupid to be honest.

      rafael...rotation/fixtures
      caulker...will he play?
      walters...fixtures
malouda...tricky to decide if he's a good choice rotation
      gervinho...untested/rotation/fixtures
      carroll...fixtures

I'm finding it difficult to decide on attacking players because many of the big clubs have rough fixtures...Man Utd and Spurs are worst here so maybe Liverpool and Arsenal are better targets

I'd be looking for at least one £12.0m slot up front so you can pick Rooney/Van Persie/Tevez/Aguero/Torres when it suits you...don't underestimate the importance of a good captain...the only real alternative is a slot for Lampard/Gerrard/Fabregas but this must be an inferior strategy

Using cheap players as your captain might work out really well for you but I'd be surprised if there are many people who feel this has worked well for them in the past...the problem comes when Rooney (or whoever) runs hot, loads of people get him and you find it difficult to get him into your team

I'd also be looking for a £10.0m slot for Carroll/Suarez/Gervinho etc

Defence is too week. Because of not getting points for playing, your defenders need to getting plenty of clean sheets. So dont save money there, (unless of course like me your betting on some skills from leceister this time).

So downgrade whittingham and pack in the brummy defenders

What are peoples thoughts on having Jose Enrique in your team if Liverpool sign him before the season starts?

You would think he would be a nailed on starter for them and represents good value.

However Liverpool have let in three goals in each of their pre-season games, which is hardly good defensive form!

Also, would this mean he would play LB and Johnson would move to RB pushing Kelly onto the bench?

His value, where he to be a starter at a team like Liverpool, is too much of a bargain.

At Liverpool, he will easily outscore his rivals in the 5m bracket i.e. Bardsley, Hughes, R. Johnson etc...

          and Kelly will be benched.

A wee bit bored so I threw together a Sun Dream Team. Most will have no interest at all but anyone care to RMT.

For those unfamiliar with the rules heres a few of the biggies:
        - Points are scored depending on how your players perform for their club in Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League matches
        - No points for assists, only goals scored.
        - Budget of 50m.

        GK B Friedel £3.0m
        DEF G Clichy £4.0m
        DEF B Sagna £4.0m
        DEF B Hangeland £4.0m
        DEF R Huth £3.5m
        MID D Hoilett £2.5m
        MID F Lampard £7.5m
        MID C N'Zogbia £4.0m

          My thoughts are:
          - He's probably the best midfielder available in the game.
          - His opening fixtures are crapola.
          - He's injury prone.

I'm liking Malouda for the opening fixtures. He's a rotation risk yes but if it comes off it could be beautiful, if not, it's an easy Malouda > VDV later.

        Morning.
        1. Ameobi vs Ba vs other NEW forward options?
Think i am going 'balls out of the bath, Lynn' on the forwards this season, but curious to the above options.
Cabaye has penalty 'rep', so maybe assume Ameobi not on pens for comparison...

        2. Any bolton fans...Bogdan??
(for some reason i think he looks like he has saves in him... although i think it is his hair colour and the likelihood for an associated nervous/defensive disposition)
What is the defence looking like? Impact of Cahill possibly leaving?

No, I think you can get away with that. I would have N'Zog in there by downgrading one of Sess/Taar/Jarvis. I've been tempted by AJ up front - do you think he'll play?

I was thinking of downgrading RVP to Bent after GW1 instead of having N'Zog, but will think about it...

Seems the best option at 6.0 for now considering SWA then bol as 1st two games. I'm pretty sure he's been signed as no1 left back. I had Kolarov last season and towards the end of the season he was getting dropped for Zabaleta (who's a bloody RB).
Like I said I'm planning on bringing in a Chelsea player anyway for GW3 depending on who is playing. Probably Luiz

Zabaleta plays either side? Mancini loves to rotate in any case and Clichy is as much an accident waiting to happen as Kolarov (well okay, maybe not quite so much). Also they've signed a new CB - Lescott can and has played LB for them before too.

I guess time will tell but I think there are better options out there.

I'm seeing quite a few low/mid priced midfield options this year and not many high priced good options with Gerrard/fabs/lampard all lookign dodgy. The upper/mid price options aren't great either while we're still waiting to see the roles of Silva, Malouda, Modric etc.

On the other hand Rooney and RVP are both looking pretty solid picks imo - i reckon i'll start with both of them and a relatively weak midfield to play the fixtures with.

In other news support still haven't replied to me regarding the fact that my history/leagues have gone missing. I'm doubtful whether they'll sort it out before the start of the season which is annoying.

Sessgnon is lookign good, Taarabt i think could do well in fantasy terms, Moses/Barton/NZogbia all have the potential to be great picks too.
