Our Monday regular is rolled out once again, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Aston Villa
Gabby Agbonlahor was named in the starting XI to face City but was forced to withdraw prior to kick-off due to illness.

Burnley
Right-back Kieran Trippier is set to be assessed after he was stretchered off with an ankle injury during the 2-2 draw at Leicester – after the match, Sean Dyche was hoping the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois was subbed off midway through the first-half of yesterday’s win over Arsenal due to a head injury. The club have since confirmed the keeper has been given the all-clear after undergoing precautionary tests and is expected to turn out for Belgium over the international break.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann is set for knee scans after being forced off just 12 minutes into the weekend loss at Hull.

Everton
Steven Pienaar lasted just 64 minutes of the weekend loss at United before being forced off with a possible recurrence of the thigh injury that had kept him on the sidelines since Gameweek 2. John Stone was stretchered off at Old Trafford, with Roberto Martinez a little worried in his initial prognosis:

“It’s a ligament problem in his ankle. We are going to assess him in the next 48 hours. It’s such a massive blow because, as you have seen today, he plays with an incredible arrogance and great maturity. It’s not for me to say yet [whether he will be fit for England] because we need to get the medical department to assess him. But for him to come off, then I don’t expect John to be fully fit for next week.”

Hull
Ahmed Elmohamady was subbed off in the dying minutes of the weekend win over Palace due to injury.

Leicester City
Esteban Cambiasso missed out with a recurrence of a knock picked up at Palace last week. The Argentine had previously been passed fit by Nigel Pearson but was unable to make the squad for the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Man City
Fernandinho will be assessed after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend win at Villa, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed post-match.

Man United
Luke Shaw was withdrawn midway through the second half of United’s win over Everton yesterday but after the match, the left-back revealed he expects to turn out for the upcoming internationals:

“It’s not a bad injury, it’s a dead leg on my knee. I felt it in the first 20 minutes when I got caught but it carried on during the game so I thought it was probably best to come off before it gets any worse. I spoke with the doctor and obviously the manager as well and both feel it’s best that I do go [with the England Under-21s] as it’s not an injury that is going to keep me out. Hopefully, I should be training in the next couple of days and can get another two games of 90 minutes each.”

Post-match, it was also revealed that Paddy McNair had suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-1 victory. The young defender was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with reports claiming that he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Newcastle
Magpies right-back Daryl Janmaat has puled out of international duties for Holland after picking up a hamstring problem during the weekend draw at Swansea.

Stoke City
After overcoming a thigh problem for the trip to Sunderland, Victor Moses was subbed off with a recurrence of the problem, with Mark Hughes explaining:

“Victor came off against Newcastle on Monday and we had him scanned. Nothing showed up and we were hoping that it was just a neural thing but he felt it almost immediately and had to come off. We lacked his drive and the purpose that he’s given us in recent games and although him going off disrupted us, it’s not an excuse as we should have been able to compensate for that.”

Sunderland
Emanuele Giaccherini and Ricardo Alvarez missed the 3-1 win over Stoke through injury and post-match, Gus Poyet admitted the duo, along with Seb Coates, “are going to be out for a while”.

Tottenham
Kyle Naughton was an early casualty in yesterday’s win over Southampton – the right-back was subbed off midway through the first period after sustaining an ankle injury as a result of a challenge from Ryan Bertrand.

if u had the following front 8 would u be happy with this defense ? or it needs baines / azpi in the expense of one of the front 8?

    Forster,

    Chambers, Lovren, Jagielka, Taylor, Duff

    Cesc, Siggy, Sterling, ADM, Boyd

    Costa, Aguero,Welbeck

Yes. I have a similar front 8 and your defence in terms of value is a lot better than mine!
I would probably have different people but their value is good and will at least allow you to change up slightly.

the think is that lovren and jags are at 5.4 each i cant get baines and a 3.8 🙁

if i got azpi then not many good options at 4.8 🙁

(repost because it kinda got lost at the end of page 13, cheers to Saniul for the reply though!)

So this is where i stand:

    Guzan (Hamer)
    Baines / Moreno / Clyne / Taylor / Chambers
    Siggy / ADM / Fabregas / Downing / Boyd
    Falcao / Costa / Welbeck

0.4 ITB and WC active. Is Baines really worth the extra 1m over azpi? Does anybody know if Walcott/Barkley are set to come back after the international break?

    For the Wc
    Foster
Baines (vc) / Azpilicueta / Hutton
Di María / Hazard / Sterling / Downing
    Naismith / Diego Costa / Agüero (c)

    Given / Boyd / Duff / Moore

    Cahill Baines Bertrand

    Sterling ADM Siggy Fab

Thanks always the argument with a premium forward, you generally need to pick up a Naismith/Sakho/ Ulloa to play as well. Aguero does give you that great capt option though!

Morning lads! I've got 2 FTs (again!) and don't know what to use them on.

    Lloris
    Ivan - Alderweireld - Naylor - Moore - Wisdom
    Fabs - Silva - Sterling - Siggy - Marney
    Aguero - Costa - Ulloa

    0.0 itb

I'd love to get Welbz and ADM in here someday, do you have any idea how I should do this? Or maybe ditch it and change something else? If all else fails, i might do Marney > 4.4 to save precious money. Cheers 🙂

You can't have both unless you're on a WC I don't think, it would be too costly (unless you ditch Costa or Aguero, which is not really an option).

Decide who you want more and it will make it easier.

I'd have to sell Costa or Aguero to get Welbz anyway, can't see a way to upgrade Ulloa. And about ADM - I might wait for his fixtures to turn, and use an FT on a smaller scheme now 😉 thanks!

I think a lot on here are interesed in Fabregas vs. Hazard for the Chelseea midfield spot after the Arsenal Chelsea game at the weekend.

Hazard was the standout player for me in that game, really driving Chelsea forward and terrorizing Arsenal's back four and central midfield three.

Fabregas was played in the double pivot and appeared fairly anonymous from a FPL perspective. He came to life in the final minutes providing his 7th assist of the campaign.

If you're a member I recommend that you check out the comparison tool. Compare Cesc against Hazard this season.

If there are those of you that think Hazard's first few games are not representative of his form last season, then go ahead and compare Cesc to Hazard's output last year.

I'm not sure if there are rules on publishing member info to the community so I'll leave it to you to check it out for yourselves.

For every brilliant game that Hazard has he'll outscore Cesc by (let's say) 5 points (the difference on Sunday).

Cesc will more than likely outscore Hazard by a smaller margin (let's say 3 points) , but more consistently over the course of the season.

There is definitely an argument for Hazard over Cesc in the short term, if you think that he is about to go on a streak. He may well do this but there are absolutely no assurances.

In my opinion there is no argument for Hazard over Cesc in the long term, as Hazard's spikes will be more than offset by Cesc's regular returns.

I would urge all managers to think carefully before letting Cesc go in favour of Hazard.

It could be a great move, but I personally would class it as too much of a risk.

Especially given the value that you would lose on Fab.

        I honestly don't know.

You can put it anyway you want, but these two weeks are all about Baines vs Kun. I don't think it's possible to own both(not even Triggerlips) without sacrificing one of ADM/Cesc/Sterling.

Most don't like Everton's defence and think Baines is to expensive.

Mmm yeah. I don't like my defence though so getting 2 big boys at the back there is really tempting. Chadli's stats are impressive and barring next week his fixtures are great. But I don't know 😕

The problem with Sterling/ADM/Cesc is what Jonty posted regarding his "differential" in owning Silva. Each time the template midf tick over the damage to your rank is immense to say the least especially if you replacement doesn't deliver.

Yeah that's true. Cesc isn't explosive though, even if he averages 6 PPG, surely Azpi and Baines will outscore Naylor and Bardsley by enough points to make the Fab > Chadli switch not hurt me too much?

                11 years, 2 months ago

I suppose Chadli might keep up his ave of 7 PPG over the first 6 with his fixtures.

                11% ownership vs 51%.

                It could work out brilliantly.

Exactly. You can't have Welbeck. No funds.

            You can't sell Cesc/Sterling/ADM for a Arsenal midf eg Walcott(not fit), Ramsey(injured), Ozil(kak).

It brings me back to my point.

I see your point and I'm hopeful I have another week to monitor, the thing is I'm not overly impressed with Liverpool and sterling is expendable over Siggy/Adm/Fab ATM to accomadate Baines/Azpi/Bertie as my back 3, hopefully I can wait tho I ain't doing a -8 for it and you never know someone may get inj over int.

    Morning all,

Luckily, until now I've managed to get away with having Bojan warming my bench, however, with the rest of my team now stable, it's time for him to be traded in for something better.

To partner Costa & Ulloa, to the value of £9.5m:

    a) Welbeck
    b) Pelle
    c) A.N.Other

    Thoughts appreciated...

Morning lads have 2 FT and havent made a transfer in 4 weeks :O

What would you do with this?

    Foster Heaton

    Bertrand Taylor Wilson Duff Moore

    ADM Sterling Fabregas Siggy Boyd

    Costa Aguero Pelle

    Thinking Pelle > Welbeck

Meh, up to you. They are both good options in my book.

      Welbeck has the better fixture.

I think your forwards are good as is.
For me I would look to replace Taylor with either a City or Chelsea defender. That's about it.

      Anything ITB?

I like your team a lot and there are no obvious moves. Pelle > Welle has a 50/50 chance of working out to your advantage I reckon, plus you bank a bit of cash.

If you have more in the bank, I'd consider upgrading a defender though, but it's not really necassary

I have 0.3m ITB. Could replace Taylor or Wilson with Chambers and bench him for a week

After brushing off ADM as "the new Yaya", which I then realised was a load of rubbish, I decided to watch the highlights. No doubt his delivery from wide areas has been excellent, but I don't think he'll continue to get as many goals unless he starts getting into more dangerous positions in the box more often.

    I think I'll hold Hazard 😉

I think ADM will get more assists than Hazard.

Hazard will probably score more goals.

I wouldn't blame you for holding, but it depends what you're after from your big hitting mids.

      Consistency or upside

I think it's a fair assessment that they will continue to score relatively equally as things stand, but I think Hazard's output may improve. Hazard is a good bet for a home captain against weaker teams I think. He's also got less ownership

It's certainly not worth a transfer anyway

Yeah I agree with you actually, there's no need to make that transfer.

I'd be more comfortable sticking the armband on Haz @ home.

Look at adm's average position - he is pretty far forward and central.

Hazard will score well though. Tough call

    3. AAAAA
      • 13 Years
      11 years, 2 months ago

True, but he has very high ownership

And while the rate at which he gets his goals should drop, its not going to fall a lot. He's taking lots of shots but from poor locations - if this was Jason Puncheon I would say stay away but ADM is an elite shooter so he will continue scoring.

He is also creating very high quality chances (not the crosses) but through balls etc...

Looks like the top scoring midfielder too me...

ADM's avg position last week was higher than any other Man Utd player...and yhis week his avg position split RVP and Falcao...Ignore any preconceived ideas about his starting berth..or the press's pigeon holing of him..

I think that ADM and Utd will score well against lower teams, i think they might well struggle against the better teams at the moment.

I made a mistake getting rid of Hazard last week. Whether its a mistake beyond that remains to be seen

Don't really plan on getting rid. Just going to rotate Siggy out when he plays tough away fixtures.

I can do the same thing with Chester to Baines (next GW) but it will leave me with 0.1 ITB. I'm worried that I would not be able to upgrade downing in the future if I do that transfer though. He is my 4th mid

Everything resets in January (WC) so you just have to assess whether you'd be happy with Downing for the GW's before that.

There are other midfielders in that price bracket aswell that you could switch to (Henderson maybe)

In that case what are your thoughts on:

DDG + Chester to 4.5 + Baines for free next GW (or for a hit this GW)

Would leave me with a back five of Cahill/Baines/Clyne/Duff/Dummet

    WC draft No.1

    Guzan (Foster)
    Baines Ivan Clyne (Wisdom Hutton)
    Fab Sterling ADM Siggy (Boyd)
    Pelle Costa Welb

    0.3 itb

Tried to fit kun in but it destroyed my team

    Thoughts?

Sacrifice a big hitter at the back based on form and fixtures and don't double up on Villa. Pellé and Welbeck front line should work through GW12.but after that you're going to wish you could get in one of Aguero, Falcao or Sturridge without having to take a hit.

Forgetting Fabregas' stats for a second.

The premier league record for the most assists is Thierry Henry with 23.
Fabregas has got 7 from 7, so if keeps his current rate up he is going to end up with 38 assists.

He is phenomenal, but I think you'd have to agree that 38 assists from the double pivot instead of a no10 role is too much to expect so we should be looking at some regression there.

so for me atleast, unless Fabregas starts scoring some goals with this, he's out.
