Monitor – Dusan Tadic

Southampton’s displays under Ronald Koeman have been one of the success stories of 2014/15 so far. Few believed the Saints were capable of replicating last term’s eight-placed finish after a handful of their leading lights followed Mauricio Pochettino through the exit door but Koeman’s canny dealings in the transfer market have steered his side into third spot after seven rounds of fixtures.

Whilst Graziano Pelle has hit the ground running as a replacement for Rickie Lambert, fellow new boy Dusan Tadic has yet step out of Adam Lallana’s 2013/14 shadow. The latter served up 178 points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game last year, courtesy of nine goals, nine assists and 20 bonus points, whereas Tadic – who arrived on the back of 28 goals and 29 assists in his two seasons with FC Twente – has mustered just a trio of assists so far.

With spot-kick and dead-ball duties in his favour, the Serbian playmaker certainly has the upcoming fixtures to improve. Home showdowns against Sunderland, Stoke and Leicester, allied with trips to Hull and Villa in the next five, look tailor-made for the 7.5-priced, 2%-owned midfielder to finally make an impact before the schedule takes a turn for the worse in Gameweek 13.

With that in mind, we compare Tadic’s displays to Lallana’s from last season and also cast an eye over his displays relative to this term’s main men in the midfield bracket.

I was just about to post on this guy and then I see this! I've not read the article yet, going to post my comment first and then check whether the article agrees.

Firstly, I don't own Dusan Tadic, would have got him but was 0.1 million away, so that ship has sailed for now and I have Nacir Chadli instead.

Having said that, if I was an owner, I'd certainly be a keeper. Looking at his numbers, he's consistently up there across the board and posting big numbers. Statistically, it's only a matter of time before he starts bringing in some points and it tells us that he's been unlucky not to score more points than he has to date.

So please, Tadic owners. Don't be hasty with that sell button!

It's GW8. He has 3 assists. That's the only stat you need. Still tho fixtures fall kind so would be foolish to lose any saints players now.

I saved 2FT and now don't like the look of my team this week now. Too many away players and too many big hitters in midfield... need to change formation to 3-4-3

I suspect so Demi...it's one week early for him but if the past four GW's had been the first four GW's he'd be in most of our teams..Proven FPL player on all sorts of kicks again.

I know a lot of people have Chadli as a Spurs midfield option but I still think Eriksen is a better bet as A) he has outscored him in recent weeks, B) he showed enough last season to suggest he can be an extremely valuable FPL option, C) he is currently undervalued, D) he has only 7.5% ownership and E) he is simply a better footballer than Chadli.

If Sterling gets rested again then downgrading him to Eriksen for +1m makes a lot of sense to me.

There are two major factors that make me prefer Chadli over Eriksen.

One is price . There's 1.4m difference between them. At this stage in the season that's a chasm. given over the season Chadli has scored 9 pts more that strikes me as great value.

The second is the last four gameweeks statistics. Chadli has had more goal attempts, but crucially his shots in the box (still the best indicator of goal threat) are very high. In fact they are 9 to 2 in favour of Chadli over Eriksen. Eriksen has been effective with long range efforts but history shows that kind of goal conversion rate from distance rarely lasts long (even Yaya admits his 13/14 season was an anomaly).

Where Eriksen's value and power over Chadli is apparent is in assist potential. But with Chadli putting in so many shots in the box he looks the prime candidate to benefit from any Eriksen assist.

    WWYD with this defence?

    Szczesny Forster

    Azpi Colo ShawX PVA Williams

    0 ITB 0 FT

Ok, i was thinking Szczesny > 4.0 for a hit this GW and ShawX > Baines next GW but somehow i also have to get rid of PVA because of fixtures and Colo because he plays for Newcastle... Williams also doesnt have much CS potential after GW 10...

    - Should i take the hit this GW with Szczesny and take another hit next GW to get Baines and do PVA/Colo > 4.5 or should i take it easy and make one transfer at a time?

    Ty in advance.

      Ulloa/Fabregas -> Aguero/4.4?

If you can't afford Kun then Sturridge instead.

Your balance is off, you need a 4.4m mid to sit on the bench imo 🙂

I could do Ulloa, Sterling, Silva -> Henderson, Milner & Sturridge ?

            That doesn't sound great tbh.

Milner's place will be threatened by Nasri. And you lose Sterling and Silva for mediocre mids. Surely you'd prefer to play Sterling every week, than have Henderson/Milner playing instead?

Evening folks. I can't decide whether to save my FT this week or bring in Baines (for Chester) or Sanchez (for Fab). Any views out there in FFSland?

    Krul
    Terry, Duff, Clyne
    Chadli, Sigurdsson, Sterling, Fábregas
    Agüero, Pellè, Diego Costa

      Baines for Chester sounds great

I reckon I would bring in Baines for Chester... Seems like a solid move... 🙂

Cheers gents. In some ways Chester to Baines is a no brainer but the issue is it isn't really a differential in my ML and need to do some catching up..

May help you not slip behind further though. Look for a differential a bit later. Think Baines in now is key personally

Cheers. Slightly concerned Baines, Terry and Clyne might be too much cash on defence. Running with Siggy and Chad at the moment and will probably want to upgrade one to Walcott in due course.

Ah well, 2FT and can't make a decision, looks like I'll just have to go without Baines this week.

Fabregas, Sterling, Siggy, Di Maria, JWP
    Rooney, Costa, Ulloa

Rooney->Aguero/Sturridge will probably have the biggest impact on your points for this week.

Any chance of Sterling rising in price this week? I see him at 90.4 on FPL statistics but I've no idea if that really counts for anything at this stage...

    Current front 3 are:

    Costa, Lukaku and Welbeck

I can afford Pelle in place of Welbeck though...
