    @Evs

    I'd definitely lose Tadic

He's only scored more than 5 twice this season once was a 6 the other was his 23 pointer that clouded everyone''s judgement, as, bar Long, literally everyone who played for Saints that game got at least 5

to me it's a simple matter of this Evs' dilemma is

            Tadic and Welbeck

            or

            Sanchez and Sakho

Think the latter wins every time

Thoughts on Sakho as part of the trade instead of Welbekc ?

        Tadic and Welbeck

Yeah, I had Haz all last year and caught the captain hattrick against NewC too.

When Fab gets his 5th, Haz ownership could explode. Till then, Fab can do no wrong.

Fab to Haz could also be for fear that Haz may be out of reach if ownership picks up and a few price rises occur, especially with people stretched for funds with Sanchez now gaining a following.

I'm curious, why does everyone seem to think that Soton will suddenly start to struggle playing at home to the likes of Everton and Man U?

Just because their fixtures are tougher doesn't mean their form will start to suffer.

Fixtures over form for me unless you're talking about a Suarez/Bale type destroyer. With tougher fixtures, I expect southampton to score less and concede more so I'll no longer want to be tripling up on them. Their assets have reasonable enough price tags that they're not must sells though.

      1. Bartowski
        • 15 Years
        11 years, 1 month ago

They've conceded five goals all season. That's half as many as the next best.

My point is that if Chelsea had tougher fixtures everyone wouldn't suddenly dump their defenders even if there was a good chance they might concede.

        1. SC not pearls before swine
          • 15 Years

Chelsea are (or were) a different animal though. In years past, they've been able to shut out even the best teams. Southampton don't have that track record. In general, I would be looking to sell a defender if he had a patch of really tough fixtures coming up and he had a premium price.

      1. Bartowski
        • 15 Years

Everton couldn't score at home to Swansea, Man U got a late goal against the next best defence in Chelsea and have struggled to break down the likes of West Ham and Everton at home.

I think the assumption that Soton will definitely concede to these teams (playing at home) is based more on ingrained reputation than the current situation.

(That last bit rhymed a bit as well, I must have been a rap star in a previous life).

I'm a Saints supporter, and they have certainly looked very good this year. The only worry is that defending against the likes of DiMaria, Falcao, Rooney and RVP is quite a different proposition than defending against (say) Sunderland. Having said that, I'm still hopeful. They have been very organised, and Koeman has done an amazing job. I think they are creative enough to score against anyone........

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Because most have 2-3 Soton players at the moment, and usually 1-2 out of Clyne/Bertrand/Forster. They'll surely start conceding goals in that period.

Even last year, they started exceptionally well and then fell back to "upper midtable" position as their fixtures got harder. They'll probably do a bit better this year, but it's a hard enough run to avoid having more than 1 Soton player.

I'd keep Pelle (maybe), but get rid of the rest.

will expand that and say i think there may be merit holding onto their attacking assets but by the time the tough run comes you will be able to cash in on the likes of clyne and bertrand for over 5mil which i think is more than they will be worth at that point

Southampton don't play United at home until GW 15 and Everton until GW17. Before that they face City at home and Arsenal away, and starting in GW19 it's Chelsea and Arsenal at home and United away. So far, the schedule has given Southampton a pretty easy ride, they've lost to the two best sides they've faced (Liverpool and Spurs) and drawn against West Brom, and in GW 13 we'll begin to see what they're really made of. I think I'll watch that from the sidelines and put some Hammers on the pitch instead.

  9. Screaming Midget

What do you all think about the early transfers vs injury risk?

Do you think if you did every transfer as soon as the last significant game of the GW had been played, you'd come out on top? (vs the number of times a big player is injured during the week in training or a European game)

If you like doing hits then do the hits early. It's risky to start with but the increased TV means you end up with a full squad quicker than the rest of the game to ride out any injury risks later on. And never leave an injured minor player in your squad...you'll need them.

I think early transfers can be beneficial early in the season when players are rising and building TV is important. I would be less likely to pull the trigger on an early transfer in, say, GW30.

        • 11 Years

I usually transfer in early and take the risk if it means jumping on early price rises. The exception would be doubtful players (eg Sakho)

Between Di Maria and Sanchez...Sanchez looks like the next Suarez, but Di Maria's fixtures are better. What do you guys have to say?

I have both but if could only have one would be Sanchez atm.

Went ADM over Sanchez. He will outscore him over the next 4 games

That's what I'd say as well, but getting Sanchez will become really hard after this week and he seems to be at the end of everything Arsenal do.

Because guys like him are always considered long term and it looks like he's going to outscore Di Maria.

Some help please! Should I play Wisdom or Colo next week? Or both? Or is it insane as they're facing eachother? Could see that game ending 0-0 though...

I'd like to trade Sterling this week. Options are:
    A) Di Maria
    B) Sanchez
    C) Hazard

I already have Welbeck and Fabs.

Probably leaning towards DiMaria with their schedule. Any thoughts much appreciated!

I'd want both Sanchez and ADM. Probably Sanchez now, then you catch his rises and can make a move for ADM after the Arsenal game.

Have 5.3m to spend on a mid in order to do get Sanchez for Sterling. Was looking at Milner, is he assured gametime?

awkward price point, much better options at 5.4 or 5.5. I'd save the money and go for Wanyama
