As always during international breaks, the treatment tables around the country tend to be that little bit busier as the knocks and niggles escalate. Once again, we scour the weekend’s match reports and press conferences and take stock on the latest batch of injury worries.

Aston Villa
Nathan Baker kept his place in the Villa XI despite the availability of Philippe Senderos away to West Ham on Saturday. The centre-half limped out of the proceedings midway through the second-half, however, with Paul Lambert going on to say:

“I thought Nathan was excellent. I really did. He put his head on everything and defended very strongly with Ron. It was a big performance from him and hopefully his knee is okay.”

Chelsea
Jose Mourinho started with both Ramires and Cesc Fabregas in midfield as the Blues came from behind to see off Liverpool at Anfield. The Brazilian was replaced just after the break, however, and, whilst Fabregas managed the full 90 minutes, their manager revealed both played through the pain barrier, with Mourinho expecting Fabregas to play no part in Spain’s upcoming internationals:

“Ramires and Fabregas both played injured. Maybe the team will lose them for a match or two now but they put themselves there for the team, like I am sure others will in the future because the spirit of the team is fantastic. Fabregas has a hamstring injury, Ramires is the same thing [groin] as before but he knew for my plan it was important for him to start the game. Fabregas is a fantastic professional and he gambled and I gambled. He can join up with Spain but if he does he will be back.”

Andre Schurrle has withdrawn from the Germany squad earlier today due to illness.

Everton
The Toffees have issues in central midfield after yesterday’s draw against Sunderland. Gareth Barry was stretchered off with a leg injury and, after the match, Roberto Martinez confirmed the former Villa man is set for x-rays:

“As he fell, Gareth is stretching his leg and he gets caught. He is having an X-ray on his tibia.””

Martinez also went on to reveal that James McCarthy picked up a hamstring injury against the Black Cats:

“It is a concern, he needs assessing and hopefully it is just fatigue.”

Hull
The injury worries in defence continued for Steve Bruce last weekend. Hull travelled to Burnley without the likes of Michael Dawson and Alex Bruce and, having made all three substitutions early in the second-half, the Tigers boss had to finish the match with 10 men after Curtis Davies was forced off through injury:

“Curtis has a back problem, but we’re not quite sure what at this stage.”

Manchester City
Edin Dzeko lasted just four minutes of the weekend draw at QPR before limping off with a calf injury. Benched yet again as Manuel Pellegrini rolled out a lone striker system, the Bosnian entered the proceedings on 64 minutes only to limp back down the tunnel just a few moments later. Dzeko has since withdrawn from the Bosnia squad earlier today, with reports earlier this evening suggesting he could be sidelined for three weeks.

Man United
Louis van Gaal confirmed that Paddy McNair was subbed off late on during United’s win over Palace due to cramp, allaying any fears of another injury concern for the Old Trafford outfit.

Newcastle
Steven Taylor missed yesterday’s win at West Brom due to injury, as Alan Pardew opted for Paul Dummett at centre-half alongside Fabricio Coloccini, despite the availability of fit-again Mike Williamson. The latter replaced the Argentine late in the second-half, however, after Coloccini was forced off with a knock on 78 minutes.

QPR
The R’s midfielder Sandro picked up yet another injury problem during the weekend draw with City. Having played the full 90 minutes just twice since arriving at Loftus Road, the Brazilian was replaced by Joey Barton at half-time after picking up a hamstring problem.

Southampton
Midfielder Steven Davis failed to make it to half-time in the weekend win over Leicester. After the match, Ronald Koeman was optimistic on the Northern Ireland international’s chances of a quick recovery:

“He had a little feeling in his hamstring and I hope it will not be really an injury, one or two weeks, but tomorrow we can make the scan and say something more about that.”

Stoke
Mark Hughes is sweating on the fitness of two of his first-choice back-four as we head into the international break, after both Phil Bardsley and Marc Wilson were forced off early during yesterday’s win at Spurs.

Swansea
Garry Monk was without a trio of players for the Swans’ 2-1 win over Arsenal yesterday. Centre-half Federico Fernandez was absent with a calf complaint, whilst wide men Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer were also unavailable due to groin injuries.

Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino played down injury fears after Danny Rose needed to take on an oxygen mask at the end of yesterday’s home loss to Stoke:

“[He] took a kick to the chest. He is okay.”

West Brom
Sebastien Pocognoli was replaced at the break during the Baggies home loss to Newcastle after picking up a muscle injury. The left-back has since withdrawn from the Belgium squad earlier today, with reports suggesting he could be out for up to three weeks.

West Ham
Speaking to the press after Saturday’s goalless draw against Villa, Sam Allardyce admitted he gambled with Winston Reid’s fitness and played the centre-half for the full 90 minutes despite a slight recurrence of the problem that forced him off on 23 minutes away to Stoke in the previous Gameweek:

“I wanted to bring Winston Reid off because he was feeling his thigh a bit, but at that point I just felt he had to stay on for us to go and get the winner. I wanted to put Andy on rather than change Reidy for James Tomkins, so I hope Winston’s alright.”

Costa or Baines as the priority? Thanks in advance

      A) Pelle ➡ Costa for free

      B) ADM & Moore ➡ Baines & Chadli for a hit

Don't be swayed by Moore - it could be any of my cheapies but Moore is the only one not playing

      Forster 4.0
      Clyne Chambers Wisdom Yun Moore
      Hazard Siggy ADM Sanchez Obertan
      Kun Pelle Sakho

I think it is a bit sideways to lose Pelle for him and not worth using a transfer on ahead of Pelle's fixture especially since you can captain Kun. Reassess with two frees.

For this week when Pelle has Villa, yes, I think it is a bit. Both should get something from their games. Following this GW is a different story. I would make that trade this week if I had two frees but I'd rather save than do it with 1FT available.

      so, Fabregas..

      1) injured right now. what? who knows..FPL says groin, some reports say thigh, others say hamstring. clearly not "Mou mind games" as Spain have their own doctors and they have left him out of the squad for said injury after assessing.

      2) on 4 yellow cards, on the cusp of being banned, won't be 'cleared' for months so it's bound to happen soon or later even if he misses a game or two with injury.

      3) apparently (haven't played FPL that long) Fabregas usually wanes in the second half of the season and this was evident at both Arsenal and Barca

      4) I've heard Arsenal fans tell me that Fabregas is a bit like Rooney in that once injured he needs a little more time to get the engine revving again..

so thoughts on Fabregas' place in your team?

personally my defense is in shambles to service my mid/strikers so I may sell to someone like Chadli (need to check fixtures) just to free up the cash

he has like 9 assists. Which is equal to 5 goals if you are comparing points to out and out mids that score goals

Keep if fit ahead of that fixture and reassess afterwards. Many players on 4 yellows, no need to lose Fab if he is going to play.

Main reason I went for Fabregas at the start was for his consistency to get me up the ranks... But now I need a more explosive player like Hazard to keep me up the rankings I think.

Im keeping for a week or two I think and bring in Hazard when I can. It could all go bottom up GW13 though if Fab and Costa pick up yellow cards and also having several Southampton/Stoke players you want to ditch.

Not convinced at all, so what if he picks up another yellow? There's men on the bench to cover that.
He only miss' one game through suspension.

Just done Tadic AdM Berahino > Chadli Downing Costa -8
Feel worried now , had 2ft and already did Clyne> Chambers Saturday night , that was planning towards a different hit but now looking back that move could have totally have been avoided as I could have done the move I have done without doing the Clyne >Chambers move , took a massive gamble gamble shipping 2 saints and AdM in one hit , need no injuries and Costa captain to one big time other wise I will drop like a stone

              Basic thinking
AdM no value with Chad and Downing scoring regular and great run of fixtures coming
Costa a must with those fixtures
Southampton will crumble under arguably the worst run of fixtures of all time
Swayed by the fact a took a 12 hit gw5 and nothing but green arrows since

I actually think it makes sense
Maybe you could have spread it over two weeks, but those players in have far more chance of points than those out, except chambers maybe.
Very much form over fixtures in the short trm, both in long

Thanks mate , a key part of the decision was Costa at home to WBA, so the Berahino >Costa bit avoids playing Berahino playing Chelsea away, and will captain Costa so hopefully just that one transfer will give me a minimum 15 point swing in my favour , covering the 8 hit and then hoping the other transfers equal out , would leave my team in good stead after too it's just this game week that's the worry

                My team:

                Foster - Jakupovic
                Baines - Chambers - Clyne - Moore - Wisdom
                Fabregas - Sanchez - Chadli - Tadic - Boyd
                Welbeck - Pelle - Aguero

                1FT, 1.2 ITB

Tadic -> ADM, Welbeck -> Sakho
Yay or nay? Not enough ITB for costa so will wait until winter wildcard to get him if i have to.

I agree & I always wait as late as possible but I took a -4 hit this morning as I only had the exact money & Costa/Chadli were rising.

                A- ADM & Pelle & Dowing > Chadli & Aguero & 4.3 M mid player for - 8 pts

                B- ADM & Pelle > Wanyama & Aguero for - 4 pts

Goals from a midfielder usually equals 3 BAPs. I made a lot of money off Fabregas but the money can be used elsewhere.

I'm holding anyway. Even if he misses WBM. If he gets another yellow I am still going to hold. My team is balanced enough to bench him one week if I have to. Only way I will sell is if he is ruled out for more than one game. He will be in the top 5 midfield scorers come the end of the season.

                  5 - SWA

Been focusing on school so not been on much.

Need to get Sanchez in asap, willing to take a hit, but i have 2 FTs.

                Bego, 4m
                Baines, Clyne, Kaboul, Naylor, Moore
Di Maria, Fabregas, Siggy, Milner, Boyd
                Aguero, Costa, Welbeck.

                2 FTs, 0.7 banked.

Milner was short term option so he's gotta go. So will probably end up taking a -4.

Which transfers would you guys make?

Have exactly to trade Fab + Pelle for Chadli + Costa before price change.

Worth? I'm a bit doubt if it's the right time to sell Pelle.

Yes, if you already have Siggy and Downing, otherwise bring one of them in

I have Siggy, but not Downing. This is how it looks now.

                    ADM - Fab - Sanchez - Siggy - Boyd
                    Aguero - Pelle - Welbeck

Too bad that it's not enough to get Downing by selling Fab + Welbeck.

Fabregas and Pelle could easily outscore Costa and Chadli -4 next week. In the long run it might pay off...

Which of these transfers is better?

                Forster
                Baines - Ivan - Chambers
                Sanchez - Fab - Siggy - Downing
                Aguero - Pelle - Welbeck

                Elliot, Boyd, Hutton, Naylor
                1.1 ITB, 1FT

                A) Forster, Fab, Pelle > Guzan, Oscar, Costa -8
                B) Forster, Ivan, Pelle > Guzan, Azpi, Costa -8

No Costa, 2x Southampton going into next week doesn't sound to good TBH. Unless Costa gets suspended next game, then it would be fine

You can sort it out next week with two frees and still have them for the good Villa fixture. If you took a -8 to bring in Costa and he picked up a YC against West Brom that would be a disaster for you.

Interesting point. Btw, Costa usually been booked on away game.

You probably have two games before he's banned.

Yeah but who knows with him he is always on the edge and can have a kick at a shin any game any time. He's a bit mental.

True, but not sure who I would get for Pelle next week if I don't free up some cash

                        Aguero - Welbeck - Austin / Sakho / Berahino...

                        ...looks a bit weak

It's also quite likely that I won't then use a transfer to sort the keeper as out as something else will have come up

IMO ... B looks better than A, but it's costly in terms of point hits.

I'm now considering C too, but not so sure as it looks risky without Costa.

In favour of C, I could captain Hazard at home and be quite comfortable, and I might captain Kun anyway. It also removes the two players on 4 YCs

Don't sell Ivan. He will get a cs & attacking returns at home v WBA.

Fab to Chadli & Welbeck to Costa.

Forster out soon. Trippier rotates perfectly with Clyne so no need to sell him. Pelle is a hold. Will wait and see, but for now, remains great value in my team. Double saints defense was one of the best decisions I made this season
