After reviewing the Goalkeepers and Defenders, the third instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees midfielders come under the microscope.

Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve looked at the top ten midfielders for points per game in 2010/11 and analysed their scores in terms of reliability. While the likes of Rafael Van der Vaart impresses in his debut season, there’s plenty room for Florent Malouda -despite his overall haul of 186- to improve his consistency for Chelsea this upcoming season.

going to avoid United, Arsenal and Spurs coverage for the first few weeks. want VDV for gameweek one but don't like his injury risk (might not play the full match or at all) and would want him out for gameweek 2 so I'll just avoid him for now.

    I think everyone would like United coverage but there fixtures are pretty average for GW1-6. In addition Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City have better fixtures. Further more after watching the charity shield I would rather have Young than Nani.

Just been looking at the first 5 fixtures season ticker on the main page, looking at Man United's fixtures I notice that the Arsenal fixture is a clearly darker shade of red than the Chelsea fixture (both at Old Trafford).

How is the fixture shading chosen and is this an example of why we should be cautious about reading too much into FF Scout's season ticker info?

    That's the point though isn't it BobB, the ticker rates Arsenal at Old Trafford as harder than Chelsea. Maybe it's based on Arsenal's strong away form from last year?, though with Arsenal's recent transfer situation this should mitigate that...

      ..Silva! Tough one. For me I'd stay away. He's a bit of a Modric - great player for City and massive FF potential but never really fulfills his FF points potential. At 9.0 million there's better points scorers out there. Don't be misled by him being so great for City, it's about how good he is in the FF game itself...

        Not sure what you are basing this on? He is City's main atatcking outlet in midfield. Sure he had a rather slow start last year but he was prob just finding it hard to adjust to the English game, but grew in stature as the season went on and I think he has massive FF potential for this season.

        Great potential but he played magnificently last year and failed to nail down the high points regularly in FF. Played almost every game for City and really did thrive in the Premier League so it's based on a full-year's experience of watching him in action both in the real world and FF.
        
        Great football player, not a great fantasy investment at 9.0. (same as Modric!)

        I could be wrong but I thought he was not very good in first half of last season??
        
        He played 2551 minutes last season which is the equivalent of just over 28 games which means he missed nearly 10 games (in terms of minutes) and still got 144 points.
        
        Oh and he's actually 9.5m but i prob shouldnt have said that 🙂

  for a newbie it's really good but:
  
  If you choose Hart you should play him every week so get a £4.0m keeper...Bolton have very tough fixtures...otherwise your defenders are pretty good but many people will choose 2 guys they can rely on (i.e. ManCity/Chelsea) plus cheap guys whose fixtures rotate well
  
  Many people expect Adam to do worse than last year...at Blackpool he hogged the set-pieces and we don't really know if he'll lose some of them...he's a decent shout but Kuyt and possibly Downing may be better
  
  Don't like Tiote and hate Ferguson
  
  but all in all a fine effort

i am really having a hard time justifying picking up baines due to his price at 8.0 and everton's history of terrible starts but i have half a mind to do it considering his attacking potential and taking set pieces and corners for the assists.

  Wasn't it shown that Evertons "history of terrible starts" only really applied to the last two seasons?

    you may well be right hattie but that's not what's in my head...I remember that after 2 bad starts the previous years they changed their pre-season routine last year...I read Moyes getting interviewed about it...somebody will know for sure
