With just hours until the Gameweek 14 deadline, we assess the PlayON Player Price List once again this lunchtime. Below we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

Fantasy managers should be aware that PlayON have now shifted the deadline for submitting your teams. Previously, the cut-off point was two hours before the first kick-off in a Gameweek but, as of tonight, you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first match(es) get underway, affording you time to assess the teamsheets before making any final decisions.

PlayON has Freeroll games and Guaranteed Pot games running each week for the rest of the season at www.PlayON.co. This week they have £300 in Freerolls on offer and £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow them on Twitter at https://twitter.com/PlayON and like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PlayON

Goalkeeper – Julian Speroni
Despite failing to keep a clean sheet since Gameweek 6, Crystal Palace have started to tighten up defensively and conceded just once in each of the last three. Tonight’s visitors Villa have been struggling in front of goal and mustered just one strike in their last five away trips and Speroni, at just 6.8m in the PlayON Player List, looks excellent value this evening. The Argentine also affords the opportunity of save points – he’s made three saves, worth 200 points each, in each of the Eagles’ last two home matches. David De Gea (7.6m) is our essential goalkeeper pick once again after securing a clean sheet at home to Hull last Saturday. The Spaniard now has two shut outs in as many home matches and this resilience looks set to continue as Stoke arrive at Old Trafford, having failed to score in two of their last three away matches.

Defender – Kyle Bartley
The centre-back is set to continue as a replacement for the injured Federico Fernandez in the heart of Swansea’s backline this evening. At just 5.5m, Bartley is the definition of a budget enabler and his defensive contribution is looked kind upon by the new PlayON Scoring Matrix – over his three appearances, he’s completed six tackles, ten interceptions and 18 clearances. With visitors QPR scoring just twice on their travels so far, the Swans will be confident of earning a sixth clean sheet of the season. After quickly recovering from a hamstring injury, Leighton Baines (9.7m) will be looking to churn out the points once again as Everton play host to struggling Hull. Bearing in mind the Tigers have failed to score away in three matches, a shut out could be on the cards for Roberto Martinez’ side, though it’s Baines’ attacking potential that mainly earns him the nod, with two goals and six assists to his name already.

Midfielder – Ross Barkley
Sidelined through injury at the start of the season, the Everton midfielder’s return to action has seen him play all but 16 minutes of the last four Gameweeks. With just two assists in six appearances this term, Barkley has yet to rediscover the form that produced six goals in 2013/14 but, at 8.9m, the youngster offers a cheaper alternative to team-mate Kevin Mirallas (9.7m). While Mirallas has better form, with a goal in each of his last two, we’ve opted for Barkley as his more combative style seems likely to benefit from the re-introduction of the tackle and interception points in PlayON. Available for 9.8m, Gylfi Sigurdsson continues to produce the goods for Swansea. Having supplied the assist for Wilfried Bony’s goal against Crystal Palace, the Icelandic international has played a part in eight of his side’s 11 goals at the Liberty and now hosts a QPR side that have lost every away encounter this season.

Forward – Ricky Lambert
The Liverpool striker has now grabbed two goals and an assist in three starts and looks set to be the focal point of Brendan Rodgers’ attack for this evening’s trip to Leicester City. Sitting bottom of the table after failing to win since September, the Foxes have managed just a single clean sheet in the last nine Gameweeks and, at a price of 9.8m, Lambert looks a decent in-form option for our two-man frontlines. Robin van Persie is our essential pick for United’s home clash with Hull. At a price of 13.7m he’s far from cheap but, having grabbed a goal and assist at the weekend – and outscoring Wayne Rooney by 700 points in PlayON – we’re backing the Dutchman to make the difference as Louis van Gaal’s side look for a fourth straight victory.

Head over to www.PlayON.co and get your teams in for the £2,000 in guaranteed pots ahead of the 19.45 deadline this evening.

    Green
    Azpi Baines NTaylor Clichy Dumm
    Siggy(C) Fabregas Sanchez
    Austin Aguero(VC)

    McCarthy Downing Boyd Costa

Too many defenders will i put downing in for NTaylor? Crazy to put captaincy on Siggy? Thinking of changing it to Baines have a feeling it could be another shut out by sunderland against city

Considering ditching Costa for Bony. (If Bony starts)

I think Bony will outscore Costa in the next 6, I already have Hazard and Chelsea seem to be tightening up and looking to win games 1-0/2-0. Allows funds to beef up the rest of my squad, I know Costa will score goals but with no BAPS possibly isn't worth the big pricetag value wise.

    Thoughts??

With the AFCON in January I expect monk will play bony as much as possible over christmas, plus he's been only doing 70mins most games to keep him fresh I think...

I've just done this. Doubled up on Chelsea midfield and happy looking at Christmas now, Costa will miss at least one of those games as well. Hazard never misses a minute.

    Reasons for Captaining Hazard :

    - Last 3 home games , hes ended up in double figures .
    - No Diego Costa means Hazard has to step up to the plate , and we all know how good he played against United without Costa .
    - Tottenham have given away more penalties than anyone else in the premier league this season .
    - Spurs play a very high line which will benefit Hazard , and also there might be a factor of Fatigue within the Spurs camp .

I don't think Hazard will suddenly play better because Costa is not playing. He should be stepping up his game regardless. I think having no Costa means less chance for assists.

People used the argument that Spurs give away penos very easily last week with regards to Baines, no penalty.

I agree his form at home is very good but think there are better captain options this week.

on the Rooney vs Costa...some people are saying Rooney is not worth it cause he plays deep. He still scores goals and by dropping he is more involved in play, hence increases his chance for baps. Costa gets very few chances and even when he scores he doesn't get baps. I think overall Costa will score more goals but think they will finish on pretty similar points at the end of the season.

I have gone for Rooney for the christmas run as he is a streaky player and is currently on form, Costa had a good run but has been dipping in form lately. The key is to switch back and forth between the two. Not just take one over the other for a season.

I still think he will finish one of the top scores at the end of the season. I feel people are holding onto him because he is a 'season keeper'. I feel he is having a bad patch and he has the potential to be rested over this busy period.

I don't think the question is who is better, Rooney or Costa, it should be more short term. Especially with the price changes, if Rooney hits form and Costa dips. they will be about the same price in a couple of weeks so the switch becomes very easy.

I could be completely wrong and be punished for having no Costa over the next few weeks! I don't like the idea of holding on to someone that is meant to be a 'season keeper'.

Shame Chadli's not playing til tomorrow night. If was in tonights games, then could take a hit to get rid for Siggy if not in line up's pre deadline.

Even if he does play, I'd be surprised if he got more than 2 points.

is it worth taking a hit to bring in a playing goalkeeper?

Play for the rank, not the mini league. The mini league comes once you have the rank. Basically don't do a differential for the sake of being different. Captain the player you think will score more. If this is Hazard in your case, stick that mofo band on him!

Not later in the season - you can (c) the same player you think your nearest 2nd rival will, to stop him gaining ground.

Ha ha. I was about to post how I always do the opposite. Sound advice, but my mini league has a lot of money on it and I would rather rank one million and win it than rank like 4th overall AND in my mini league. Never gonna win whole thing (unless you're up there after first ten games) so why not concentrate on where the cash is?

I think it's about time Monk started running Bony into the ground with full 90s.

He'll only be off to ACON anyway! 😀

Tempted, I'd prefer a cheeky bit of Silva but may be a little while till he is back.

Thoughts on a 4 point hit for:

    IN - Mirallas & Hazard
    OUT - ADM & Oscar

Not sure Oscar to Hazard is worth -4, why not just ADM to Miralles?
