Our analysis of the Gameweek captaincy contenders arrives once again this evening as Fantasy managers quickly turn their attentions to the weekend’s fixtures. As always, we take a three-part approach, which includes the weekly poll standings, the Opta statistics and our Rate My Team projections to help steer your thoughts on the armband conundrum.

The Captain Poll

After his midweek demolition of Sunderland, Sergio Aguero is head and shoulders above any other candidate as City prepare for the visit of Everton. Selected by 52% of voters so far, the Argentine – in spite of his superb season – has surprisingly blanked in three of his six home appearances and has managed only one double-figure haul at the Etihad to date. The Toffees roll up to Manchester in poor defensive form, though – without a clean sheet on their travels all season, Roberto Martinez’ side have conceded in five of the last six Gameweeks.

Chelsea duo Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are both fancied to deliver the goods away to Newcastle. Costa has delivered more yellow cards than goals on the road (five to four) and has notched just once in his last three away trips but having missed out due to suspension in midweek, he’ll be raring to go against the injury-hit Magpies. Hazard has yet to score on his travels this season – indeed, the Belgian has managed only two assists away from Stamford Bridge all season and has blanked in each of his last four appearances on the road.

Charlie Austin’s superb home form brings the QPR top scorer into consideration, with 7% of the votes cast. The budget striker has racked up four goals and two assists in his last four at Loftus Road and, up against a Burnley side with a single clean sheet on their travels, he’s looking for a third 10+ points haul in front of his own fans which would fire the R’s out of the drop zone.

After netting Villa’s winner at Palace on Tuesday evening, Christian Benteke is amongst the favourites for a plum home clash with Leicester. The Foxes arrive without suspended skipper Wes Morgan and look unlikely to improve a defensive record which has seen them keep out their opponents in just one of the last 10 Gameweeks.

Alexis Sanchez is also in contention as the Gunners roll up to Stoke. Unlike Chelsea’s Hazard, the Chilean has delivered on the road – four of his nine league goals have arrived outside of the Emirates, suggesting he could be a real differential against a Potters side with a single shut-out since Gameweek 3.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Kane from Spurs?. Those changes are really good.

What do you think about Pelle to Austin/Beraino?

Do not get Berahino. Kane is nailed at the moment and has great stats

            Thank you.

Would you choose Fabiansky over Forster?. If i do Pelle -> Kane and Moore -> Azpilicueta i have enough $ to bring Foster .

It's a tough GW. I prefer Downing as West ham carry such a good aerial threat he's always in the mix for assists

    Good to go check please!?

    Fabby
    Clyne//Baines//Dawson
    Haz//Alexis//Downing//Siggy
    Kun//Costa//Austin

    McCarthy - Boyd - Moore - Naylor

Defence is looking weak for this GW, keeping an eye on Azpi price rise and if he is looking like he will tonight Cyne > Azpi will be done as have exact cash...

Guys I need your expert opinion. Currently have:

    Green (Foster)
    Chester/Baines/Hutton (Wisdom/Clyne)
    Jedinak/Sanchez/Hazard/Chadli (Boyd)
    Rooney/Aguero/Bony

    1FT 0.2 ITB

What do I do? Play Clyne over Chester? Go Benteke>Rooney? Get a hit for Benteke+Eriksen>Rooney+Chadli? Save FT?

    All help appreciated

    Morning,

    Asked yesterday, but wanted some final opinions before pushing the button;

    Team is;

    Foster (Elliot)

Baines - Clyne - Yun (Chambers - McNair)

Hazard - Eriksen - Sigurdsson - Barkley (Boyd)

    Costa - Aguero - Welbeck

I have 1 FT and 1.8M in the bank.

I was all set to do McNair - Azplicueta and play him ahead of Clyne this week, but I'm concerned about rotation risk over the December games.

Also concerned about rotation for Welbeck, and form.

    A. McNair - Azplicueta
    B. Welbeck - Benteke
    C. Welbeck and McNair - Benteke and a 5.6M defender (-4)
    D. Something else

    1. Kurtinho

Definitely A. Welbeck is OK for now. Not too urgent.

Benteke vs Leicester though...not worth a hit.

I could have got Azplicueta in for a hit before the Spurs game but decided against it - that was a mistake

Cahill is a doubt, so Ivan CB n Azpi back to his natural RB pos. - more assists potential.. When all fit, Mourinho will keep the exact back 4 for league games.. Luis will play in UCL n league cup..

Too scared to not captain Kun. Looks like he is fit and he seems nailed for 90mins every match. Predicting a draw, hopefully it's high-scoring.

United and Arsenal too lucky with the state of the teams they are meeting! Arsenal meet Southampton without Schneiderlin and play vs 10 men last 10 minutes, United meet Southampton without Tadic, Schneiderlin and Toby..

Giroud to Costa or save for another week?

A bit unsure about Costa, Rooney, Baines, Giroud atm.

Think Im better off just holding on to Giroud and then weigh up options with a double transfer next week..

What do ye think of this?

If you're not feeling it stick with Giroud, then do the double transfer next week. Giroud away to Stoke can deliver at least as much as Costa away to Newcastle imo.

Thinking Bertrand to Azpilicueta, but RMT doesn't have that as being any more beneficial over the next 6 games. What do you think? Reluctant to remove Bertrand as he's good going forward and I had him at 5.2.

    Tremendous value for a defender.

I'm keeping Clyne for the season for same reason. Absolute bargain at 5.0 capable of clean sheets, goals and assists against any team in the league. Traffic on the other hand, he's on borrowed time in my team.

I think this will be Chelsea's biggest test of the season tbh.

Newcastle are a decent outfit and it will be tough for them. Can see them potentially losing this one.

I totally agree don't see Chelsea winning with more than a goal up if at all. Remember Cisse's goal against them a while back. That guy is a beast. Take a look at his goals per minutes rate since hist first appearance in GW5

The Clyne tackles and Aguero 7 goals in 8 are the only relevant ones, last years games with different teams have no bearing on this season.

Except City no one has a chance to beat Chelsea. Maybe Arsenal at Emirates with their reinforced defense. CFC has just 2 much mental strength and quality this season. Mourihno has stamped himself n NUFC can best hope 4 a draw. 75% chances of CFC winning.

Yes but Hazard scored a hatty against them last season (had him captain) ... if we take this one out he has one goal in two games.

    Pelle Baines out gw13

    GW13 - Rooney(c) + Hutton in = 17 pts vs Pelle Baines 3 points
GW14 - Downgrading Baines allowed Di Maria > Hazard(c) in for gw14, though had to do subsequently do Rooney>Bony (-4) + Hutton = 31(-4) vs Pelle Baines 3 points

38 point gain by using funds raised by getting rid of Baines.

Was watching Baines from behind the couch though...but there can be benefits from losing Baines.

    Guzan - (Jaku)

    Wisdom - Azpil - Baines - (NTaylor - Duff)

    Sanchez - Hazard - Downing - Siggy - (Obertan)

I'd suggest getting in a fresh and consistent Costa for Rooney and then get pretty much any defender for Baines. Looking at perhaps a City one due to their fixtures.

Don't go down that road. No cleanies for them without Kompany.

Feeling Clichy for the value at the moment, Kolarov is imminent but I've a feeling Clichy will still be first choice. Failing that Zabaleta.

I see what the below person has said but looking at fixtures City's are by far and away the best, Arsenal is a good shout as well, perhaps Man U but they don't keep cleanies...
