As managers start to utilise the depth of their first-team squads and introduce fresh legs into starting line-ups, the number of injuries was kept fairly minimal over the weekend. Unfortunately for City and Fantasy managers alike, a certain Argentine’s knee problems casts a shadow over plans for the festive period.

Aston Villa
Paul Lambert is sweating over the fitness of midfielder Ashley Westwood, who was stretchered off with a knee injury in yesterday’s win over Leicester. The Villa boss also has concerns over Tom Cleverley, who was replaced midway through the second half with a foot problem.

Leicester
Ritchie De Laet missed the trip to Villa Park due to illness, allowing Danny Simpson his first start at right-back for the Foxes. Top scorer Leonardo Ulloa notched his first goal since Gameweek 5 yesterday but was forced off at the break during the 2-1 loss at Villa due to a calf problem. After the match, Nigel Pearson explained his decision to withdraw the Argentine:

“In the challenge prior to half time he got a heavy knock with a follow-through and he didn’t fully recover from that, so we felt it was still important to still have the work rate out there with Nugent coming on for him.”

Man City
As Fantasy managers know only too well, Sergio Aguero was forced off early against Everton on Saturday evening due to a knee injury. Whilst Manuel Pellegrini has yet to make a statement since Saturday’s post-match briefing, unconfirmed reports last night suggest Aguero could miss the next month – or at least five Gameweeks, to you and me.

Initial reports suggested Fernandinho missed out through injury but further updates indicate the midfielder was simply rested from the squad to face Everton.

Newcastle
Rob Elliott has been ruled out until January with a thigh injury sustained in the weekend win over Chelsea. With first-choice stopper Tim Krul also sidelined, Jak Alnwick is poised for a stint between the sticks. Alan Pardew – who is without the suspended Steven Taylor – has also revealed skipper Fabricio Coloccini is, once again, an early injury doubt. Mehdi Abeid missed out with a recurrence of a toe problem against the Blues.

Stoke
Marc Wilson and Marko Arnautovic missed the Potters’ 3-2 home win over Arsenal with hamstring and groin problems respectively. Marc Muniesa was forced off after sustaining a hamstring injury, with post-match reports suggesting he could be sidelined for 10 days.

West Brom
Georgios Samaras missed the Baggies trip to Hull on Saturday due to illness, the club’s official Twitter feed has confirmed. After the match, Alan Irvine explained the reasons behind a couple of second-half withdrawals:

“I wanted to be as positive as possible with my changes but at half-time we had Stephane Sessegnon struggling with a tight calf and Victor Anichebe still troubled by his groin problem.”

West Ham
Carl Jenkinson is an early weekend worry for the Hammers. After serving up his second assist of the season, the right-back was forced off with a hamstring injury during the 3-1 win over Swansea.

Obviously given that everything goes ok tonight, Aguero and Chambers to Ivanovich and Rooney is an obvious and decent move for -4?

Ivan only has 3800 transfers out, not sure he'll be dropping. Why would you go with Ivan over Azpi? Ivan not worth the extra 1.2.

    Fabianski* / Elliot*
Baines, Azpilicueta, Wisdom / Hutton, Yun
Hazard, Sanchez, Sigurdsson, Downing / Boyd
    Costa, Aguero*, Austin*

    1 FT, 0.0 ITB

A Aguero ---> Bony, play Hutton or Boyd, no keeper
    B Aguero + Fabianski ---> Bony + Pantilimon/Hart -4

I don't know whether this has been posted before or whether this post is 100% correct , but apparently Wenger has already named his team for the Gala match :

Arsenal team vs Gala: Szczesny; Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Bellerin; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Flamini, Ramsey; Campbell, Sanogo, Podolski

Arsenal bench vs Galatasaray: Akpom, Zelalem, Kamara, O'Connor, Iwobi, Maitland-Niles

Why are people saying Dzeko's game time is under threat by Jovetic?

Dzeko is a striker and Jovetic isn't. Simple. It's either Dzeko AND Jovetic or Dzeko and a 5 man midfield.

      Jovetic plays up front
Whether that's in the guise of a target nn striker or a poacher doesn't matter
You don't need to be 6ft+ to be a number 9

      1. davies

Jovetic doesn't play up front as a singular striker.

            😆

Seriously, though. He hasn't played as a lone striker for City. Yes, he is capable of playing upfront in a pair, but not by himself. Hence, he won't affect Dzeko's minutes.

It's not clear who will get the nod - or if they will be rotated over the busy period

Not imo. As I said, previously, Jovetic hasn't, or will, play as a lone striker for City.

Nor did he play there for Fiorentina. He has always been a second striker. He has played as a 9 for periods for City, and was terrible.

That's the most likely situation. But, with Dzeko up top, instead. Or, a 442 with Silva, Nasri, Jovetic and Dzeko.

If you can get Chrome to open, go to Settings -> Extensions and disable anything that you don't want. Check network proxy settings too like Siva says.

costa and siggy are not in the best form and in my opinion don't really get involved enough to warrant owning them.

Think bony is the best option for swansea, more involved. Whilst hazard/fabregas better options than costa.

What would you do with this :

    Foster/Mccarthy

    Baines/Hutton/Moore/Dummet/Chambers*

    Hazard/Sanchez/Eriksen/Siggy/Boyd

    Kun*/Costa/Kane

1FT, 1,1 in the bank. Spurs are bad but I like their fixtures and can't really justify taking a hit to get Yaya in for Eriksen. At the same time I think with Debuchy back, it is time to get rid of Chambers. What do you think?

    A) Kun - Dzeko/Rooney/Lukaku
    B) Kun- Dzeko, Chambers - Terry -4
    C) Kun - Rooney, Eriksen - Yaya -4
    D) Kun - Dzeko, Eriksen - Yaya, Chambers - Terry - 8

    or else?

Personally wouldn't get mirallas. Rotation and minutes risk. I'd get Downing, good away game stats, good longer term pick that mirallas. Not sure if I'd do it for a -4 this week though. Boyd has had some decent form so probably just play him.

      I much prefer Jovetic.

Great in the air, great with the ball at his feet. Just needs better composure and not shoot out of frustration at times.

Dzeko is too one dimensional. If you stop the supply to him or mark him from aerial balls you have him. All depends on the defence I suppose and how well they defend set pieces.

Lallana has scored more points, this term. Getting him, anyway. 😆

Yeah, although his hauls over the last few years have been consistent, he is very streaky.
As the main man with those fixtures, I'll bite again

Informing press at the weekend that he was planning to rotate his squad, it appears the Frenchman has gone with the following line-up.

    Szczesny
    Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Bellerin
    Oxlade-Chamberlain, Flamini, Ramsey
    Campbell, Sanogo, Podolski

          Get in 🙂

Was getting worried between him and Chadli.

Might get away with Chadli for another week, depending on the Europa teamsheet I may field Boyd

Bought Aguero at 12.4, if he drops, will I lose 0.1?

Might just be worth taking a price drop this week

You bought at even, needs to drop to odd for 0.1 down.

Anyone do think azpi is not safe anymore? I think luis is going to come in specially in away games to provide more width to break down compact defense .

Christmas-New Year is so hard to call. Make sure your bench are all playing.
But I'd stick with Azpil if I had him.

All we need is Hazard and Sanchez to be doubtful to really shake things up

Went for Aguero and Siggy > Yaya and Bony

    Heaton
    Baines Wisdom Hutton (Janmaat Caulker)
    Sanchez Yaya Hazard Oscar Eriksen
    Bony Carroll (Ayoze)

Is it worth having one of Rooney, Costa or Aguero?
