As we all likely know by now, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) have granted unlimited transfers to reassess and fix our Fantasy outfits ahead of Gameweek two.

Given such freedom to pick and choose new teams as we please, Fantasy managers should be ready and willing to select a captain who will come out of the traps kicking and screaming.

David Silva topped affairs last week and fortunately did voters proud – the problem was that the Man City playmaker was one of only a small handful of players to score points in this low-scoring Gameweek. Here’s a few we think might top affairs come Saturday morning deadline…

Fernando Torres

There was something a little different about Fernando Torres’ display last Sunday. Despite failing to score in the nil-nil draw with Stoke, there was a Joie de vivre about El Nino’s game- he looked hungry and livelier than ever before in a Chelsea shirt and hinted at a return to the form of old.

A home tie against West Brom -a game in which Chelsea scored six goals last season- offer the perfect platform for Torres to spread his wings and fly. Fingers crossed it doesn’t prove a false dawn.

Similar Alternatives: Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is already off the mark this season. Netting at West Brom from open play, Man United’s star forward carried forward his sparkling pre-season displays as the champions opened their account with a win.

A home game against Tottenham isn’t going to be the top fixture on paper to attract investment, but United are deadly at home- they dropped just two points at Old Tarafford all last season. Throw in his spot-kick duties in addition to his overall good form and we envisage there will be a fair few handing him the armband for the final fixture of the gameweek.

Similar Alternatives: Ashley Young, Luis Nani

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa hitman is one of those strikers you buy for a season and not just for Christmas – he’ll have lean weeks but, as the years have shown, will get you the points on a regular enough basis.

A home match with Blackburn Rovers tied into a belief that we think his chances of picking up bonus points could see an increase under the new EA Sports PPI Index, suggests Bent is looking a good proposition for Gameweek 2.

Similar Alternative: Charles N’Zogbia

Leighton Baines

Everton were the other side unable to take part in Gameweek 1. Fortunately, unlike Spurs, they won’t be facing the reigning champions- instead they play host to a QPR side still licking their wounds from a 4-0 battering at Loftus Road last weekend.

Despite a 8.0 price tag hanging round the neck of Leighton Baines, last season’s top-scoring FPL defender has shown he’s clearly capable of producing the same points returns as the majority of midfielders; 5 goals and 11 assists in 2010/11 attests to that.

His forays up and down the left-flank will prove vital for the Toffees and up against a recovering Kieron Dyer (or Bradley Orr), Baines will favour his chances. He’s also a dab hand at set-pieces.

Similar Alternatives: Louis Saha, Tim Cahill

Alternative Alternatives

Grant Holt – A kind first home fixture for a penalty-taking captain of this newly-promoted side.

Scott Sinclair – Remove the club captaincy and we’ve got a rinse and repeat case of the above.

Steven Fletcher – The Wolves striker has been all about goals when given time on the pitch. He now seems more secure and will be hosting Fulham.

The poll is now hot off the presses and awaiting your votes, as you can see we think the strikers are going to rule supreme this week – but who are we to know? The evidence of your accumulated clicking fingers will tell us in a couple days time exactly where favour lies.

Can someone explain to me all the Enrique love on this site? I can't see Liverpool keeping more than 2 clean sheets in the next 8 (maybe 3 at a push). Plus he's new to the club and we don't even know he'll start every week.

For 5m you can get a starter for Villa, Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke, who all have better chances of clean sheets in my opinion.

He's very good VFM for a Liverpool defender. He'd be $1m dearer if he'd signed a few weeks earlier. That's a lot of spondulicks to splash elsewhere imo.

what i don't like are responses to RMTs that sound Lordy and have no explanation behind them.

That is one of my key questions too! Sorry Ronnie, but I cannot answer you: I am trying to avoid The Fat One but I don't like the look of Malouda nor Torres in my lineup. I had Malouda for GW1 and I would have been forced to keep him now.

My ranking for Chelsea coverage would be:
      Lamp
      Torres
      Mal

Anyone pushing for Torres right now is doing so with ZERO evidence upon which to base it....I "think" he will score this week, but I did that same thing late last year and it still pisses me off. Yes, he looked "lively and strong" in GW1, but we should wait until he puts the biscuit in the basket.

      Good luck.

Dzeko ain't that empty, give him a gun and he WILL shoot you. I have a hunch that Dzeko will get the hot urine treatment next match featuring Balo and Sergio up front. The cool thing about this team, is all the forwards (and Adam Johnson) will get more time because Milner and and Barry are not torturing us as working wings, and will stay central or defensive midfield.

It's certainly an interesting one - a bit like Brian Jensen was getting so many save points for Burnley 2 seasons ago.

The 'problem' is I think Given will be better value than them both over the course of the season, as either of those will more than likely do really well in a lot of away games, by they both rotate well with their home and away.

    Which combo looks better:

    Young, 5.5 mid, Bent

    OR

    N'zog, 6.0 mid, Rooney.

The 2nd option makes transfers easier in a few weeks when i'll prob want RVP and Aguero!

    Cheers!

      You should simply ask:

      Nzog & Rooney
      or
      Young and Saurez

      I say choice A, but it's a tough one.

Just found out why SToke's Marc Wilson is so unpopular here.

He's only in the wrong bloomin' sport and is over 50 years old.

Another member area player profile cock up, pt 4.

Marc Douglas Wilson (born February 15, 1957 in Seattle, Washington) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League for the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders and the New England Patriots.

Comments on my newly worked team would be most welcome. Thanks as always for all the help! Not sure about who to play in the midfield this week but I did my best.

    Szczesny (Ruddy)
    Cahill-Hughes-Kompany (Simpson-Orr)
    Mikel-Silva-Young-Jarvis (Moses)
    Rooney-Zamora-Aguero

    Thank you!

        I mean,
Cahill - Do you have some inside transfer news?
Hughes - Might as well risk the confused looking Senderos, no?
        Mikel - Playing next game?
I don't like your Man U/City combos... think it is investing too much $ in those...

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm not sure how to tell if Mikel is playing next game to be honest. Doesn't show as injured and played 90 minutes last week so that's about what I have to go on.

I'll take a good look at mixing up my Man City/MU overkill.

I was thinking of getting Swansea's Danny Graham in.....to represent me in a Canadian court of law.

"Danny Graham is a lawyer and former politician in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Born in Antigonish, Graham is the son of former senator Al Graham. Raised in Sydney, he attended St. Francis Xavier University where he earned the Blizzard Award and the Larkin Trophy for student achievement. He later earned his law degree at Dalhousie University."
