Granville and I make a New Year return to the ScoutCast studio, battered and bruised by the events of Gameweek 20 which saw us both inexplicably bench Harry Kane and his 18-point haul.

Having wasted our big differential and haunted by constant reminders, my co-host and I struggle to make a recovery. Spitting the pips from our sour grapes, we do our best to justify our doomed decision-making, before attempting to salve the wounds with talk of the Winter Wildcard refresh around the usual batch of regulars.

Feel the frustration via this link or swallow the bitter pill via the handy player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

WC - RMT please? I think it's perfect
    ----------------------------- Foster -----------------------------
    --------------- Cahill - Wasilewski - Wisdom -------------
    -------- Hazard(c) - Sanchez - Silva - Chadli ----------
    --------------- Kane - Berahino - Costa -------------------

Heaton - Di Maria - Trippier - PvA

In the coming weeks I will replace Heaton with Pants. Also I'm not sure whether to play Di Maria, and if so; for who? I will also take out Berahino for Ings next week

      It's good. Constructive criticism below:

Don't like double WBA, Chadli or Berahino. You need to think about Kun.

How about Chadli for Boyd? And Berahino for Ings. WBA have Pulis now so don't worry, CSvwill be coming and I can rotate my defenders and keepers for the right fixtures

If Kun looks fit and sharp this weekend, but you only have one FT next week and limited cash.

Which is the best way to get him?

    A Costa to Kun (-4)
    B Wildcard
C Ignore and WC the GW after

Way too much money spent there IMO.
              Panti/4.0(Krul?)
              Terry/Bertie/Pva/waseilski/wisdom
              Something like this Patty
And spend the rest tho personally I'd leave Terry go as well.

I did say Italy seemed to be his first choice. Think it was a case of being snubbed by Juve but really wanting to live in Italy.

His attitude is f**king s**t tbh, frequently on social media giving out about Munich when they leave him on the bench, won't pass to team mates when he comes on, 100% not the type of person the Pool dressing room needs right now.

Genuinely, I think so. I understand it's very frustrating with Pool not bringing in any one at the moment but wait and see what happens.

Not at all, a lot of young players in the positions he can play, it would interrupt bringing them along (the likes of Markovic who they spent a lot of money on).

I hope he kicks the attitude out and focuses on the football, he could be a great player if he did, no question.

yeah its looking promising! might swap Guarin with Hernanes and Palacio with Podolski but good to have some decent quality in those positions.

The chase for the champions league spot will be very interesting if Mancini can get the team working well. The display in the second half against Juve was encouraging.

Aye. A lot of clubs in the PL have some really great attacking mid options mind you, hard to know who really really needs him (and would be able to get him obviously).

            • 15 Years

Would cost a lot, so that'd take most clubs out the equation. Don't think City Chels Ars Utd need him though.

Ricardo Rodriguez, the left back at Wolfsburg is class too, can see City sniffing.

That's exactly it, couldn't really see him getting a nailed on role in any of those sides or Spurs or Pool (given the number of attack minded mids both teams have).

Everton possibly... Though they're having a stinker at the moment.

Right now it comes down to:

        Fabregas + Giroud

        or

        Siggy/Chadli + Costa.

I'm thinking the latter for easy downgrades if needed. Not had Costa much this season to be honest and doing okay without but still worry about him

If Pelle plays him at all this weekend given his first full training session, with a knee brace, was today then he's stupider than I realised. Aguero will wind up limping off again.

those knee braces do absolutely nothing to protect you in pivot sports. if he's ready for training he's nearly ready for real play.

        1. Somalion
          • 15 Years
          10 years, 11 months ago

Well, not nothing because then they wouldn't bother with them.

He's just ready for real training today. He'll have another session tomorrow and then Everton. He has a bit of a history of coming back from an injury and getting hurt again. I think it'd be really foolish, unless they are desperate, to play him.

There is no brace that will protect you in a pivot sport. If anything it is just for mental piece of mind.

I agree it would be stupid to play him this weekend though.

            1. Somalion
              • 15 Years
              10 years, 11 months ago

I'm not saying it will protect him in terms of rotation etc. I agree there, there's nothing really that can help that but it may just be an overall stability provider instead of protection.

Watch him play now 😉 Pelle always rushes players back.

Like Couts, Siggy, Jelavic, Cisse, Sissoko in January's past? It would have been a mistake not to. They play above their potential more often than not, due to being in such a fresh environment. They want to prove themselves.

Most will only have to ditch their third striker and a premium mid for a hit though. We all know that an Aguero (c) can more than make up for it. This would leave wildcard intact.

RVP to Aguero soon, am I right that Aguero will be price locked for a while ? I dont want to do this transfer until after Chelsea City game, but 0.0 itb could be a problem

Debuchy and Jones can become Bertrand and Lescott/Wisdom later down the line, just dont like SOT and WBA fixtures this month

Bit worried of 3x CHE 3x ARS and 3x UTD but all have decent immediate fixtures and RVP is just a Ageuro placeholder

P.Jones' spot could be Trippier, Lescott, Alderwied or Janmaat but with funds to spare and a strong front 8 why try to second guess a lower team when i can get into United's tightened up defence

      Thoughts ?

I think that there is a potential opportunity to play a WC slightly earlier - it appears that many are happy to wait 2-3 weeks and muddle through. And there lies a possibility to steal a march on those who will likely have poorer teams for 2-3 weeks. The real question is does that advantage outweigh the value of waiting.

I think i can get a better team for the next 2-3 weeks and setup for the longer term. Not sure why i wouldn't do this now as its also quite likely this team will outscore my current squad in the short term too.

later wildcarders will experience more price changes than early ones as so many go early that prices barely move (WC transfers don't affect prices)
