As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

    Okay. RMT:

    Given (Vorm)
    Cole, Kompany, Baines (Simpson, Wilkinson)
    Silva, Nani, Moses, Sinclair (Tiote)
    Torres (C), Bent, Holt

Cole to Alex can free up some money, like Sinclair to N'Zog, but... Opinions?

Far too much money in defence. Scale Cole down definitely, Nani is likely to be rotated and scores zip away from home, Tiote will rack up minus points for yellow cards

Maybe not, but as proved in the Community Shield, I think Nani is capable of beating any team 🙂

Giggs doesn't play right wing but Park and Young are both options there. Nani as good as he is and as good as he was last season (FPL wise), he does seem to get dropped more than most.

I don't necessarily agree that your defence is too expensive. Baines/Cole/Kompany could prove excellent choice. Personally I'm gambling with Bosingwa instead of Cole to save a bit of money but who knows..

That crap about too much money in defence is too be overlooked. More 6-pointers from defence than mid/forward.

    Hi Guys,

Looks like Upson played the full 90 for Stoke today. Anyone think he will be a starter?? Huth, Shawcross, Woodgate should be nailed on? Is he the 4th?

      Stoke fan here.

Hard to say as Upson has been here a week.

Shawx is nailed on (provided he doesn't go to 'pool - he is good enough).

Huth seems to have the right back slot atm as he is the only one capable of playing there.

Best guess is that Woodgate has first dibs on second centre half position but won't be played more than once a week to protect him.

If you see Woodgate in Europe, expect him to be benched the following weekend.

I'd advise that Huth/Shawx are the only way to go for the Stoke defence from a fantasy perspective.

No one is a good shout for the season. You can expect to have a total of 0 players who you retain for the whole season. To me Toure is a risk anyway. He was more of a defensive mid at Barcelona and once Aguero comes into the team, Toure will surely have to play more defensively.

Not overly keen on your midfield. Looks a bit light. This is mine:

      Given (Begovic)
Baines, Lescott, Bosingwa (Simpson, De Laet or Gabbidon)
      Young, Silva, Sessegnon, Moses (Dyer)
      Torres, Suarez, Holt

I think mine looks better balanced than yours but then I would say that. I've also got 0.5 left

I know what your saying but it's pretty much a question of Rooney & N'zog for me or Young and Holt for you! I know you have spent a bit more in defence but I'm pretty happy with mine, obviously I will play the front 3 every week so only a max of four mids can play anyway. I fancy Ramsey to do well this year and am not too keen on the Sess bandwagon. Wish I could squeeze Baines in but I think the balance of my team really goes to pot!

Good looking team although looks a little light in midfield given your forwards (ie two big hitters and not three). I personally prefer to have a solid bench warmer in my front eight - ie always on the bench - after getting burned by Adam in the first few weeks of last season.

Dubious about Mikel given his family situation or has that been solved?

Ahh great point about Mikel .. I'm sure I read he had been given the weekend off. I'm ALOT more defence heavy than I have been in previous seasons, there seems to be a lack of 4.0 choice tbh (especially in goalkeepers)

I went for 1 decent MF (Silva) and a couple of decent support (taarabt supposedly and N'zogs) ... I do need to flesh it out abit more though

You need to show your whole 15 for people to make a proper judgement. Given is currently doubtful for example. IF he didn't play, who is your other keeper? If it is someone who doesn't play, I'd advise against it.

Otherwise, United's fixtures are too tough in the next few weeks for me to take Smalling plus United without Vidic and Ferdinand are likely to concede, you should probably have another big hitter in midfield and Saha is too risky for me.

You won't play a Man City defender at Bolton? If that's the case you are wasting your money. Steer clear of United defenders while Vidic AND Ferdinand are out AND the keeper doesn't look as solid as VdS.

What's all this love for Saha? Injury prone and goes on streaks of doing nothing much

I'm just not sure about Baines now. I finally relented and rejigged my team to buggery to get in him thinking he was probably JUST worth it. But if Jagielka ends up going to Arsenal then Hibbert cant fill his boots and they will only have four defenders in the squad - cant see hardly any clean sheets getting kept in that scenario so really relying on a lot of assists...

Hilario is short-term, whilst Given could cover 3 of the next 4 gws in any case.

Good spread of players to cover the fixtures. Perhaps downgrade one of those high-priced defenders to upgrade suarez to Torres for this week.

Anyone with no Utd. cover in their teams because of chasing 'good' fixtures needs to take a long hard look at themselves, TOT & ARS defences, yes please.

Agree if the player(s) you have are attacking but is it really a good option to take the 'bargain' price United defenders with question marks against De Gea and United's defence without Ferdinand and Vidic? Better options out there in my opinion

I'm tempted to go for both actually as they look like decent £4.0 options to come off your bench in an emergency.
