As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

    Poor old David Moyes has only spent £61m on players in the last FIVE years. And 90% of that was financed by transfers out and they're still about £45m in debt!?

    Considering this is a team you could arguably say was near the top of the "second tier" of the EPL the disparity of cash is frightening

    I just cannot believe that no team put in a big offer for Baines because I don't think there is anyway they could turn it down. Manu should get him to replace Evra - then he definitely would be worth £8.0m

      Evra had an awful last season and probably deserved to be dropped but Baines still isn't a better defender. Plus he doesn't travel well so he'd be useless for a top 4 team in the CL. I could see him doing well at someone like Spurs maybe.

    -----Finally settled on a team-----

    Schwarzer, Vorm
    Lescott, Dunne, Bosingwa (Simpson, De Laet)
    Lampard, Cahill, N'Zogbia, Moses (Brunt)
    Torres, Suarez, Holt

    Like it because aside from a couple of cheap players, they're all usually reliable and there's a decent spread of funds in every position. Good fixtures so I won't have any grand plans to bring in X by GW Y.. those plans usually get ruined by other injuries and necessities anyway.
    Also banking heavily on Chelsea, for at least 2 GWs which i thinks a decent risk. Just have to decide on which City/Chelsea defensive combo for £12 and hope I don't bottle it with Chelsea coverage and get Aguero.

      Very similar to mine, ive also stayed clear of pumping everything into the forward line. My only real major difference, apart from the odd defender or two is that i have gone for Rooney over Torres. My thinking being that hopefully Lampard will cover Torres and United look sharp to me at the moment.

      I like your team a lot. My team was so similar and certainly is but I decided to go with Rooney upfront. And I am falling in love with that Cahill punt. I asked before and there we could have in example Toure and Baines at the back, What do u think about that?

        That is not a weak Mid given the strength of the forward line; N'Zog, VDV, Jarvis all good potential point scorers. Going heavy upfront is just a different tactic, not necessarily a bad one.

    My mini-league 'forum' tab seems to have disappeared. Has this happened to anyone else? As admin, I can click on the 'Administer' tab, then it reappears, and previous messages are there as before. Obviously I'm the only one in the league able to do this, is it a common issue?

    my team seems to be based primarily on 3 teams: everton, aston villa and chelsea. Normally I wouldn;t do this, but the fixtures are great and they are all at home this week, that's every player in my first 11.

    I think this could potentially spell big trouble or it could be a massive win. Who thinks this is a good idea? If not what are your suggestions for me to balance it out (i.e. who to replace, I want solutions not problems!)

        everton, he's my massive differential...coleman is injured...barkley is a promising star of the future, he had 3 assists or so pre season...you mark my words in the next coming weeks...he'll come good.

        The only way I can get him as well is to downgrade Silva -> Yaya (which I'm reluctant as I think Yaya will start playing deeper soon) but this still means the rest of my side is rubbish.

              I meant risky in the sense that Cech will come back just in time for Swansea's game at the Emirates and I will have to make a transfer.

              Still worth it I think. Who knows, Vorm might get enough save points to be a sensible home pick for the whole season.
