As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

I'm shying away from ManU for a few games. I may regret not getting Rooney in but I think there are other forwards who can do well the next 3 or 4 weeks. And at this point, with the defensive injuries, I have little confidence in their ability to keep clean sheets.

Thanks for the input. I think Bosingwa should start. AVB seems to like his fullback to get forward and that should suit Bosingwa. I have 1m in the bank though incase I need an upgrade. Cech is missing but WBA never score at the bridge!

I used this "wildcard" to downgrade Cashley to Bosingwa. I haven't heard any argument why Bosingwa shouldn't start, and chelsea will keep out an Odemwingie-less West Brom at the bridge.

Now, Doubling up with Hilario could be a short-term boost. Easy points.

Lampard is 1m more than Torres, and even though he is nailed on, no one knows exactly where he is playing this season and for 1m cheaper you could (COULD) catch the Torres bandwagon early, I know I am on it anyway.

Silva is a nailed on starter, and while I don't like City in the next 2 games, he is on set pieces and you know he will get 90 minutes at the weekend, Aguero will find it hard to make the impact he did against Swansea against almost any other teams, Aguero is a superstar, but I am letting him settling in a bit more and seeing what the Tevez situation looks like before I jump in.

I've gone Torres & Silva too. Granted, Lampard and Aguero were not in my thinking. Lamps just isn't dominant, and I'm typically slow on a bandwagon, hence the lack of aguero (and hence why I missed both the Adam and VDV boats last year).

I want to go Silva to Cahill though. Very close to doing it.

I agree with 3 Villans, almost, I really don't agree with 3 Toffees. Everton have not started the season well for the past 2 seasons and despite 3 home games in the next four, I really would not be putting all my eggs in one basket like that.

I would consider doing Distin OUT Bosingwa IN (for a few weeks, or go Brown of Sunderland, I fancy him and Sunderland for the season) and then upgrade N'Zogbia to Downing for some Liverpool coverage, I fancy Downing this weekend against Arsenal and I fancy him to do well over the season too.

Pretty standard team for these parts.

I would not go with Hilario, easy access to Chelsea team for 2-3 weeks maybe, and then you have to replace him, and spending a transfer on a keeper is often such a waste. Even more so, if Chelsea hammer West Brom this weekend, which I kind of expect, you will want 2 Chelsea attackers in Lampard/Torres & Malouda say, and you can't because you are restricted by Cole and a keeper you only have for 3 weeks.

No United cover could hurt you, I would captain Baines/Lampard or Suarez this weekend, leaning towards Lampard with pens.

Plus, if you go Hilario, you are wasting a few good home games from Given. However, Given would give you several weeks of cover (after Cech is back) with decent fixtures until you found a spot to dump Hilario. It's a risk but not outrageous. I did this with Friedel & Foster a few years ago when VDS was out at the season's start. (it worked well) I don't recall getting rid of Foster causing much of a problem when I had to get rid.

I have very similar team bar the big hitters in midfield.

I am almost considering bringing Nasri in to my team as I really think he could have an early impact for City but I read on the Guardian this morning that his move may be delayed due to kinks being ironed out in the deal. Silva will be impacted most by Nasri moving to City, granted Nasri can play both wings, but we all know Nasri is a creative player who likes to free roam like Silva, I am giving it a couple of weeks to see how things work out, and if Tevez leaves, and if 4-4-2 will remain, and wait for the fixtures to ease.

Nice team, like Young and another reasonably big hitter in midfield, even if you stick with Silva. I have gone for Brown too, and I have Suarez/Torres and Roondog up front.

Please pick apart my team. My theory is to make no transfers until GW4 if possible.

    Given (Vorm)

    Baines, Bosignwa, Warnock, (Brown, Simpson)

    Nzog, Yaya, Sinclair, Moses (Fox)

    Rooney, Torres, Suarez

    thoughts on my team:

    given
    alex/baines/kompany/brown
    silva/jarvis/moses
    rooney/torres/suarez

    bench: ruddy/senderos/tiote/dyer

just concerned about not having villa coverage, did i spend too much on defence?

Torres as well. He looked very dangerous.

Rooney could do the business, but so could Young and Nani at OT.

I have so little confidence in arsenal right now...

As with all expensive/high scoring players you should be more concerned with the most immediate fixtures. Chelsea have 2 fantastic fixtures coming up so Torres is really good captain material for these two fixtures. In my opinion, Lampard is the other really good captain choice in the next 2 weeks, so if you have Lampard you don't necessarily have to have Torres. I am toying with having both however as it gives me flexibility in midfield and upfront.

I like Rooney but think it's too hard to squeeze so many expensive players into one team. Van Persie is always solid but is going to suffer a little without Fabregas.

Freeze on price increases will distort the market. Remember all the balances will be reset after the GW2 deadline. So for player to rise, he will have to accumulate transfers in, all the way from 0. This will make sure Torres, Silva will not rise, but will drop when loads of people take them out after some weeks

So just take them out too when they are about to drop. If they're dropping, it may be justified. Bag 'em.

Last year, I felt like the gangbuster rises were harder to catch than it was to avoid a fall. There's always a good reeson (sic) not to jump on a bandwagon. And then the player is legit and .5 more expensive before you know it.

You too, been a while, I saw Submarine in a lovely little independant theatre called the lighthouse in Dublin last March, **** for me, very enjoyable, lovely quirky British movie that isn't afraid to be different.

The Guard trailer has had me excited for a while now, and the Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle seem to have so much chemistry, Empire gave it ***** the other day which raised my expectations that bit more, hope I get to see it somewhere here in the U.S and A.

He hasn't looked so sharp in a long while, but seeing as though he isn't actually scoring, no you aren't mad. I'd love him to score but as long as we beat West Brom I'll be happy. If you're unsure about a player just keep an eye on their form, there are a lot of bandwagons, few pay off.

Aguero is a bigger risk than Torres, Torres will get a whole game and probably an assist or goal, Aguero could come off the bench and score but its less likely away to Bolton, if you're not going to have Torres you don't need another £11 mill striker just because thats what is left of your budget.

Any change of getting a hint from Boas today on the starting line up? I'm so scared Malouda & Bosingwa gets rested /rotated.

Would be absolutely amazed if Bos didn't start. Would be ludicrous in fact. Malouda should start but I am swerving. Not likely to get a full 90 anyway. We have so many attacking options on the bench that will get minutes and he is very vulnerable. He looked like Malouda of old last week. And that isn't a compliment. Lamps will never stay too deep. I think Mikel may play or Josh could come in or Ramires may drop deeper. Either way Lamps will still be an attacking force. He is my big dilemma to be honest. It looks like it will take a few goals to earn him bonus and that is a big ask. The fact I would not even be comfortable with making him captain makes me feel unjustified in spending £12m.

Yup, bummer, happy enough to pass 50 though, not the worst start, wish I could leave the bloody team alone now, had been settled on Suarez all week and now I have switched to Carroll having seen his 8 attempts on goal at the weekend to Suarez' 2, am seriously considering getting on VDV early too, think there will be goals at OT on Monday night.

I'm working towards gw 4(original plan was to WC then).

Ful/Sun/Ever/Wolves go on a nice run then so i would want to get in as many of their players now as long as they can either be rotated or have ok ish games over gw 2 & 3.

I think Rvp & a City attacker could run riot in gw 4. Problem is how to get them in with 2 free trades in gw 4.

Getting a 10+ mid will make things easier. But who if not Lamps/Malouda?

Roon, Torres and Fletch has a nice feel to it. Can squeeze Bent in but too risky for me at £10m. Wolves look more likely to score to me. Heskey playing in the "hole" last week sealed Bent's removal. I also don't see Zog and Gabby providing the supply Bent needs. Suarez and Aguero can wait.

I just have a feeling Liverpool will have a right cut off Arsenal this weekend, I really think Arsenal will be in freefall for a few weeks, 1-3 Pool for me, my gut on the match is really blinding me to any other strikers but Torres/Rooney and Carroll or Suarez! I know in my heart of hearts though that 2 expensive and one bargain basement gives a more balanced team.

he's a fair punt, but he's right in that nether-zone that makes things tough from a budget perspective. A 6.5 FW is a true starter IMHO, not bench fodder. That takes a MID away.

I'll take Cahill and Graham over Fletcher and ... Downing/Nzog for now.

I can tell you that he not a big fan of the pens. When he was at Burnley G. Alexander used to take em. One game he didn't play and we won a pen. Fletcher never fancied it when we all expected him to and Wade Elliott stepped up instead. Some strikers just don't seem to fancy them, hard to comprehend??

Torres is another! To be honest, I expect O'hara or Hunt to be next in line anyway. Was Fletch the real deal at Turfmoor?

Yeh in terms of goals per chances created, he'll bag if he gets the service. Obviously we didn't create enough in the Prem especially Away from home. I can recall many away games where he barely got a touch and he often ended up dropping deep or going down the wing to try to get involved. Work rate from Fletch is top notch he'll pick up bonus points this year.
