Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

Why the Seahawks keep on kicking the ball and then losing the possession??

Its about making yards, not about winning possession. They keep kicking from deep to back themselves stopping the pats nearer the end zone.

But the players all fail to catch the ball, I feel it is easy to lose the possession...Making yards with some short passes seem to work better like the first touchdown of the Patriots

Exactly my point. If you kick long then the pressure is on the other team not to muck in their own half. Pats have done well in stringing together a long line of short moves, but all it takes is one mistake.

Alright DZ, first WC of the season and would appreciate some advice here for the money game. Looks like I can't play the money a game in the back this WC with my al the funds invested in Walters for his double rise, and unsure whether I want Sturridge. There's a high chance PvA and Bellerin will rise this week right? Will definitely want them on my definitive WC draft

Currently on this side to catch double risers - players in parentheses are players I've made a profit on and their value right now. Thanks in advance chaps

    Panti(4.5m) - Jakupovic
    Wasi - Wisdom(4.3m) - Baird - Wilkinson - Terry(6.5m)
    Walters - Sanchez(10.9m) - Sterling(8.3m) - Hazard(10.4m) - Cazorla(8.2m)
    Kane(5.8m) - Aguero(12.5m) - Sturridge

I like the front 8 though I'd downgrade Walters and upgrade the defence a little. I like pva, Bellerin, maybe Wools or Naughton and a 2nd GK (Krul to keep it cheap).

Yeah that could work actually, am looking at Moses to JWP, and Kane to Cisse for the cheap spot. Still undecided as to whether I want to rotate my 3rd striker and 5th mid though, and will definitely have one of Naughton or Wolls on the final draft.

        Thanks for the input Beavies

            Ha 😀

I'm either starting Kane every game, or will take him out and replace with Cisse on my final draft who I'll be rotating with Moses ideally. It would give me great cover for the Gw27 blank, and perhaps will only need one of them if I go without Kane since I'll only have 2 Chelsea to bench.

Aye, it's either Moses or Cisse for me in the 2 cheap spots. Would ideally want one at least for Gw27, and fwiw this is just a money game WC, will be making final draft on Friday most likely. Thanks for the advice, good food for thought

Maybe, albeit it's still this weeks points and Moses has far better underlying stats. Perhaps Walters minutes of fame are up, especially with Diouf back in contention he could be the party pooper. Moses will be unaffected by that change in the team fwiw

Moses`s stats aren`t FAR better. Diouf will come back and move Walters back on the wing, i feel like getting him in now would be chasing points more so than anything.

Aye, I may have exaggerated that part a bit, but nevertheless I'm confident Moses will outscore Walters throughout the season. Definitely chasing though, you're right, he's on WC team for the double rise and will get rid on Friday

Yeah, could affect his output greatly, definitely something to watch out for on the team sheets this w/e. Nothing definitive, but it is a realistic chink (not racist). Hopefully it'll be the boost the current Moses owners need 😉

      Panti Krul if you can.

Not sure about Wasi, although he scored that goal against united (ggrrr..). Bad fixtures after this GW & blank in GW27 don't bother you? And Wilkinson too, no idea about him. And Baird too. Prefer PVA/Bellerin/Naughton.

      Loving your mid and attack.

Aye Nabil, was looking at that rotation, but am right on the budget plus I prefer Panti's PPG and don't feel comfortable benching him. I also have my original WC, so can afford a lone keeper for now. Good choices though for sure man

Yeah good call, Wasil will definitely not be in my WC, I just downgraded my backline so I could afford the potential double risers up top (Walters, Sturridge). After I bank the profits, I'll start tinkering with my final draft 😛

Thanks for the advice man, and will consider one of those guys for sure

Baird doesn`t start anymore, apparently. I`d rather gamble on Zouma and upgrade Baird to someone else. I also don`t really think Sterling is that good of an option, and i think it`s too soon for Sturridge. AND i think Walters is too expensive for a 5th mid.

      1. Zasa
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 12 months ago

Yeah Baird is a worry for sure PB, and if there's any more news on him I'll get rid on the final draft. Wisdom apparently is also a concern it seems, subbed off at 60 minutes though am unsure whether it was a tactical decision or not. Might be looking at Wisdom to Baird and bank the cash if Pulis gives us an eye on him.

Hmm, will take that into consideration man, great food for thought. Yeah, Walters/Moses may be too luxury. Inerting. Thanks for the input mate, much appreciated 😉

Very jealous that you still have your other wildcard, fair play.

First thing i'd be concerned about is double Liverpool attack. Not sure it's wise with their fixtures.

I think Walters is a bit knee-jery, especially as your 5th mid and not your 4th. Diouf coming back and Crouch always an option means he won't always play upfront.

Also, really not a fan of that defence tbh. Wasi, Baird and Wilkinson are all unsure starters long term, especially Wilkinson who wont start a single game. I'm guessing you'll sell them for PVA/Bellerin in the end though, i would probably get both if i can. Excellent value.

        Cheers Demi

Yeah. good point, and in the end will definitely opt for one or the other whilst getting a United attacker to replace one.

Aye, Walters is on for his double rise fwiw and will get rid when I start tinkering around with the final draft for sure. Could possibly become Moses instead, reckon he'll outscore the former and has better underlying stats to boot.

🙂 Yeah, all of them will go on my final draft, they're just on my team so I could afford the potential double risers in Sturridge and Walters. Will definitely get rid on final draft. Aye, my likely backline will be JT - Alder - Belle - PvA - Wolly or Haidara

Thanks for the input mate, much obliged

I don't envy Wenger. We struggle week to week to field the best team and now look at his "good" problem. Who will start versus Tottenham?

    Giroud/Welbeck
    Sanchez/Caz/Ozil/Rambo/Wally

So many scoring options. Who to bench this week?

Its not really that big of a dilemma. If Sanchez is 100% fit, he`ll play. Probably at the cost of Walcott or Ôzil. Welbeck wont ever move Giroud out of the team as is, and Wenger is a huge Giroud fan.

OP`s point was goalscoring options. Mentioning Wilshere, you might as well throw in everyone on the team then. And the way Coquelin/Santi are playing atm, Wilshere won`t be rushed. If he can even get into that team.

Not immediately, but Navas is average so i`d assume within a couple games after he`s fully fit he`s back in.

        Pantimilion (Krul)
        Terry, Kosc, Wollschield (PvA, Wisdom)
        Sanchez, Caz, Silva, Hazard (Boyd)
        Giroud Aguero Kane

            Coutinho, Hazard, Silva, Caz, Sanchez

            How incredibly helpful.

I guess for me it's whether to risk a Clichy start for 1GW or whether to go longer term and go to Clyne.

Probably Clyne is the most sensible.

                  That's what I'm saying.

I'd see it as a case of them counting a transfer in as a non wildcard transfer but adjusting it after as it was a wildcard one.

Its been happening all of January.

it's the only thing I can think of as this isn't the first time I've seen player NTI needed fluctuate forwards and backwards over the course of a short period of time..

perhaps it's something along the lines of people have brought him in, then wildcarded and because it's pre-change, it's cancelling those NTI's..
