Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

i'd do the first 3, although I'm currently on Santi Alexis and Olivier.

Try Sturridge Pelle or even Defoe.

        Thanks Nabil,
Didn't see Sot's game but Pelle didn't really stand up and beg to be in my side. Defoe might be fun but if he ever blanked I'd hate myself. Sludge just too pricey and crud fixtures.

Is Krul worth getting for GW 27 or just play Pants man?

Krul imo is a very, very decent cover for Panti. Plus if NEW keep going strong at the back, I wouldn't mind starting Krul. fwiw I'm already on Panti Krul.

Studge is fixture proof imo - but real issue is some friendly-priced strikers might even outscore him now.

First two good. Eriksen more likely to rise twice, I think. I assume you got Sanchez cheap.

I did get him cheap. Another Spurs would just be more trouble come GW 27... or are you saying just get for the double rise then ship?

For the double rise only. If you think Walters might make the final cut, get him.

Ahhh... am .5 short of Eriksen.

Will either downgrade Walters to Ameobi if I want £9m striker or upgrade to £7.9 mid if I keep Austin.

            Maybe even
            Austin > Defoe
            Downing > Sterling
            ??

Got Clichy at £5.4 and I prefer him over Saints def. at this stage. Will swap him out to Toby in a few weeks however.

First three look good. If you keep your strong 3 defenders and 5 strong mids, might as well keep Austin or play around with other similarly priced forwards such as Defoe or Berahino.

After Walters money ride, then maybe Mane?

Yeah good shout. Can rely on you for that it seems 🙂

Think I will keep a cheaper striker. Sot really need some attacking threat and Mane could be that guy so will consider. 🙂

    My options this week...

    A) Downing -> Sterling, bench Bertrand (and then replace him with Bellerin the following week before LEI) and start PvA (swa)

    B) Downing -> Sterling, Bertrand -> Clyne/Fonte/Bellerin for a -4

    C) Bertrand -> Clyne/Fonte/Bellerin and play Boyd (WBA) over Downing (MUN).

For those wondering, Downing has been playing in the double pivot recently.

Fair enough. Silva would only be a short term option for me and I already have Aguero. Besides, I'd be reluctant playing Bellerin this week anyway.

Right, man to man match ups on d by belichick are being perfectly exploited by Carroll and Matthews. 1 on 1 with d backs a foot shorter, Wilson is just throwing into matthews vicinity, and he gets the equivalent of a hoops rebound every time.

need the Bellerin trade to afford Silva.

Alternative is play PVA and get Sterling

Play PvA and get Sterling imo. Ballerina's fixture this week isn't that good, so I'd get Bellerin next week (before LEI) for Bertrand.

That is what I'm planning on doing anyway.

Just don't like Liverpool's fixtures, whereas Man City's are actually pretty decent. Can see Bellerin being pretty decent value for the next few weeks.

Early moves for the above would allow me to do Baird -> AlderW next week...[won't be able to afford otherwise]

Good point, but remember form over fixtures. LFC are oozing confidence and Studge is back which should benefit Sterling. You'd expect them to score in all of their 'tough' fixtures too, except maybe southampton.

Yes, Bellerin is good value, but it's not desperate you bring him in this week before Spurs away. Wait a week and just get him before LEI.

I actually don't think a southampton defender is essential, their fixtures look good on paper but I'd expect QPR, WHM, LIV and CHE to all score in their next 6. Leaving two clean sheets.

    Best fillers here?

    A) Panti, Krul, Santi & Ayoze
    B) Panti, Krul, Boyd & Giroud
    C) Foster, Myhill, Walters & Giroud

    xxx, xxx
    Terry, Bellerin, PVA, Collo, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, ADM, xxx
    Aguero, Kane, xxx

Cheers. Ayoze would only start for GW27 before becoming Sturridge/Costa so figured he was a decent cheap filler at 4.6m

Didn't realise that about my link - think it's fixed now?

Spunds like a plan but then an attacking slot is very crucial imo, and i wouldn't waste it on someone like Ayoze. I mean he's not reliable enough despite his quality.

Yep, all fixed. Watch your back 😉

      C) for me Jinswick. I think that gives you better options/ coverage in the front half of the pitch. I appreciate that it leaves you with no keeper rotation - but I think that WBAs fixtures are good enough that you can do that.

PS I know you're pretty thorough with your team planning - I'm curious to know whether you have explored any combinations with Lloris as one of your keepers? It gives you a sneaky 'extra' double gameweek player in GW28.

Haha, I have actually thought about this!

Just not convinced it's worth the outlay, especially since his fixtures in the build up are poor.

Feels wrong ditching Santi given his form, but surely he can't keep up the penos!

Foster or Panti can get you through the next couple of weeks - but, yep, the extra 1.0 or so is the issue with Lloris. Still, whats a WC for if not to tinker away and explore these possibilities?!? 🙂

You want a close game and a great finish.

Seattle are more like able, and unrelatedly, they have a great soccer fan base. New England are like one of the perennial best teams, with a hall of fame QB, and coach, but are hated by many outside of the northeast part of the US cos they win so much and belichick is a bit of a bad boy coach.

But Downing has 5 hard games in next 6 and Austin has not lit it up much in past month, though is still stunning value... plus a blank GW on the way.

      Par for the course.

Mata? Yeah he's trash, throw him out.
Lukaku isn't good enough, let's get Etoo and Schevchenko.
Lukaku should go on loan and be Didier Drogba 2.0 somewhere else where we can't use his goals.

IIRC they fended off Liverpool in tranfer cost AND salary to poach Salah.

What irks me is how easily they let Kevin de Bruyne go. He's a class act. Schurrle is quality too when used correctly, but it's so easy for them to just brush them aside for new toys.

need some advice from fantasy vets.

    1. On WC
    2. Sanchez, bought 10.6. Now 11.4.
    3. Have 3 ARS limit of Sanchez, Caz, Gru.

I definitely want Sanchez back when fit. TV is not as important as Sale Value.

Do I ship him now and try to catch a double riser (Bellerin?) by taking advantage of WC? Also mitigates 11.4 on bench if he still not fit by weekend. Hamstrings are notoriously tricky.

My thinking is that in 2 weeks Sanchez will be 11.2. meanwhile I'd have caught a double rise. So My damage/cost would be maybe 0.2. meanwhile I get to play a 10m mid for two weeks rather than a cheap bencher.

I can't comprehend this argument against having great sub/rotation options.

Should I be worried about Wisdom's game time and downgrade to a 4mill?

Your call. But Imagine if your starter gets you a casual 2 pts and your sub scores double-digit. I'm a weepy so it's not my liking.

Absolutely take your point. I think I've moved past ruing the benched points 🙂

By my math, it's no different than when your starter gets you a casual 2 pts and your sub scores 2pts.

... at least you had the option of being right.

              I don't do shoulda-coulda. I do maximizing options.

You must have no regrets in life. Well done. Hopefully what you do and don't do will bring you success.

What about my normal everyday thoughts? Why doesn't anyone want those?

They're pretty good sometimes. Not fantastic but oddly amusing to me.

At least you have manners. I like the word please as it sounds classy.

Oh and I adore your team though I'd rather Clichy than Clyne for a few fixtures.

haha I will be sure to ask about your everyday thoughts in future.

In the meantime, I'll run with Clichy for a few weeks and see how it pans out!

        Thanks mate!

I need to free up funds for Santi, so do I:

    A.) Tadic ---》 Mane

    B.) Cahill--》 Zouma

    ?????

      A is a beautiful move

But 6.4 for a rotation risk is a priority but not to Zouma

I'm waiting for the Pats to win by 8 or more , it's possible here right ? Seattle may panic and throw a interception , or is that just wishful thinking ?
