Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

Wait for news on the ban. Best options are Alderweireld (if he's back) and Azpilicueta. Naughton is also a cheeky punt if you want to keep some money ITB.

I feel like Southampton defenders are essential. So it will likely be a sideways move to Fonte/Alderweirald. Wanyama and Schneiderlin are back soon so they will get better defensively.

Only defenders that are essential IMO are Chelsea. They started bad in the premier league but have hit immense defensive form. With some of their tougher games out the way I'm a big fan of owning a defender. I'm just preparing for the blank in GW27.

Not that I'm an expert but I think Manning shades the skill side of things, while Brady has been paired with a ruthless coach and probably has more of a competitive edge

Interesting thoughts on Ozil vs Cazorla. I think you're underrating Santi, but I do think it's laughable that most on this forum think he's undroppable. Maybe for now, but as Walcott gets sharper and Ox/Welbz return from injury, I think he's more likely to make way than Ozil/Sanchez/Giroud.

In such a rut wit this team, keeps ticking over at average points but dont feel happy

    Foster/Myhill
    Hutton/Trippier/Terry/PVA/ Wali
    Hazard/ADM/Puncheon/Boyd/Sanchez
    Aguero/Kane/ Giroud

    1FT 4.1m ITB

    Thinking
    Puncheon to Sliva this week

    Tripper to Alderw later
    Bellerin appeals too

    Any inspired thoughts welcome

Punch to Silva is tempting but maybe it's not pressing. Hopefully. Plus it's a kind fixture for Punch.

True, just get that 'happy' feeling with Silva sat in there for the nice fixtures. No logic to it. Trippier is annoying. Keeping this week but his time is limited with so many cheap point scoring defenders about

                Soton is sensible.

CHE is really tempting but then I will be in trouble in GW27 (already got 2 CHE & 1 TOT). Clichy leads the race but montoring other options. Cheers!

I would not pay 5.3 for a Newcastle defender, honestly.
What about a get a Stoke/WBA/Palace/Ars defender, whichever you don't have?

Wollscheid, Wisdom, Kelly and Bellerin are my options there.

Yeah, he's pricey but then he's got amazing fixtures this GW and in GW27 - only times that I might play him. Might turn my attention to Colo btw.

Already got Wisdom. Maxed out on ARS 🙁 Yep, monitoring Wolls but not Kelly though.

Yes, 4.5 for a Stoke defender has always been good, even when I would accept the form is indifferent.

And I forgot Naughton, as well.

Still tough for me. I think in a way we're still being nostalgic when it comes to STO defence. It's not Pulis anymore. Plus Sparky was a striker and I'd comprehend a more attacking style of play rathe tahn those "rugby" days.

            Naughton is really tempting me.

Re-posting this for the DZ to see if garners some discussion

Looks like the template was officially smashed this GW, good news for WCers nonetheless.
All the big hitter/highly owned players deliver this GW, seems we have a plethora of good options to have. In tandem with the fact that there's a blank GW coming up on Gw27, followed by a DGW for QPR and Spurs on Gw28, these are season defining moments indeed.

With all of Silva, AdM, Cazorla, Walcott, Sterling, Ozil, Hazard, Eriksen, Oscar, Sanchez and heck even Coutinho fit and firing we are lucky to count our chickens to have so many good options still (plus a new Cuadrado singing could shake things up). We realistically have room for at least 4 (most will have 3) of these premiums, albeit you can push it to 5 if you're going 352 and opting for a budget mid to pair up one of Aguero/Falcao/Sturridge.

Last week on a WC, many were disappointed with the lack of good options of top with Costa's absence. Now it looks like with Sturridge's cameo and goal off the bench, he could be a serious contender for our WC sides albeit his price might sway some off and there's an argument for his value being warranted. Coupled with Pool's fixtures (eve, TOT, sot, MCI), I can see why many may be put off by getting him when Giroud, Kane and even Falcao have better fixtures and have form to boost their appeal.

So for those on WC, don't hesitate to stray away from the pack as there's points to be had from all these forwards and mids in the coming GW's imo (some more than others obviously). Also, it goes w/o saying that one should ideally try to plan for this coming blank and subsequent DGW by whatever strategy you find most fulfilling. Could be planning transfers and saving 2 FT's to take out your unwanted assets for the DGW, holding players in the bench attic for his team's DGW, limiting Leicester players and QPR players, or investing in a good bench and having a couple of players who can optimally cover your Chelsea/Spurs blank.

There are many to ways to skin this cat, no right or wrong answer for the most part so while yes, you should ask for advice, go with your gut and try your best to go off your best judgment of the game. A steady head and a clear vision are key for these coming GW's, so hold your temperament and when/if you have a poor GW, don't let it bring you down and don't lose the grand scheme of things

    Best fillers here?

    A) Clichy, Sterling, Santi & Ayoze
    B) Aldy, ADM, Santi & Ayoze
    C) Collo, ADM, Walters & Giroud

    Foster, Myhill
    Terry, Bellerin, xxx, PVA, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, xxx, xxx
    Aguero, Kane, xxx

I agree that SOT are the better team defensively, but:

            1) Aldy is a doubt for this week, and with my defence I'd ideally like to start him
            2) Berty is banned - likely to disrupt SOT's defensive unit a little
            3) The rotation means I'd only need to play this spot for 2 weeks in the next 4 and Collo has (STO, AVL)
            4) the 0.4m may come in handy!

Great run you're on btw, just got back from a 2 week vacay and abit out of the loop. Any work been done on possible future DGWs? Seems limited since most of the big boys of out the FA Cup.

I don't think anything is known yet - I'm planning to have Terry, Haz & Kane on the bench for GW27 and save my transfer to get 2 more DGWers (Eriksen, Austin, Chadli, Spurs defender the likely lads) in GW28 for free. Then probably play the 2nd WC for a later DGW

That's kind of the general plan I have as well. Wonder if it's worth keeping Austin now until then. Considering going Foster/Lloris til GW28 on WC, but wonder if 5.6 is too much for a keeper who will be benched til then.

    WCT Draft 1:

    Krul -- Foster
    Fonte -- Ivanovic -- P.Jones -- Schlupp -- Yun
    Ozil -- Hazard -- Eriksen -- Mane -- Ameobi
    Aguero -- Sturridge -- Gayle

this leaves me with 0 in bank...but the main concern is that on GW27 I won't be able to field a full team...Thoughts?

Sturridge is a solid differential these days but I think he can wait. Considered him myself earlier, but think other strikers like Giroud, Kane or even Defoe can outscore him in the next few fixtures.

I'd ditch him and use it to upgrade your bench fodders.
