This afternoon we roll out the first round draws of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the fifth Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup.

In the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI the cut off for qualification was 81 points,  with rank deciding entry for those who scored exactly that tally in Gameweek 28. The rankings cut off was 150,163rd place.

One of the most eye catching ties in this open entry tournament is former champion Wild Rover’s match up against our team news man Demi.

Among our other cup winners Gribude will take on Snotgrass, reigning champion CMIFLFC faces Toon_army_htl, Goonerdave squares up to Blue Mooners, former champ MCH takes on Aliminator and Jonty (that’s me) faces Big Dolls.

Chris8910 is among those hoping to claim a high profile scalp, when he takes on Mark, whose Scoutcast co-host Granville sadly failed to qualify. Powerslice will be hoping Paul slips up to see him through to the next round.

Other notable community matchups include Hvt’s clash with 1966 was a great year.

In the Members Cup V, the cut off for qualification was also 81 points. As with the Paddy Power Cup, rank is the decider for those who matched this cut off score in Gameweek 28. The ranking cut off point for this competition was 2,515th.

Former winner Trigg faces the toughest task among our former champions as he squares up to world number one Dufflinks. Another former winner Fuzzy Dunlop also faces a familiar name, when he takes on Jafooli.

Shiregeriatric has the task of attempting to oust Mark from the Members Cup, while Dynamic takes on Paul.

Other familiar names from our community facing up to each other include Innsie’s match up with Shatner’s Bassoon and Torresmagic’s first round tangle with Shipstontrev.

The full draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI can be found here, while the draw for the Members Scout V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Leaning towards Cresswell (ars) over Clyne (che) because I feel both won't keep a clean sheet and I fancy Cresswell more for attacking points. What do you reckon?

Clyne equally likely to get attacking points, and also concede less imo

      Play Clyne.

West Ham's defence look like they could ship 3-4.

Saints defence rarely concede more than 1 - and Chelsea rarely score more than 2.

And I'd argue Clyne's attacking threat is just as great as Cresswell's.

The way the midweek match went sure made the choice between Chelsea and Southampton players more difficult. For those most of us who have several players from both teams.

        On this note

would you consider it folly to sell Bertrand to Terry, with the aim of getting Toby in next week?

Only other defender I can afford to ship is Kos

I like the idea as it leaves me with a defence of Kos, Terry, Toby, Lescott, Naughton

Decent CS and attacking prospects there

          Not sure, JK.

Personally like double Saints myself - and feel that at least one is season keeper essential - and personally prefer a Bertie. He'll get some more assists and another goal or two I think.

Typed one-handed while eating an ice-cream. Meant prefer a *fullback (i.e. clyne or Bertie)

I'll be keeping Toby long term, but with Chelsea and Arsenal having DGWs it seems silly not to have 1 from each

I've done Bertrand to Ivanovic this week (to go with Terry) and then getting Toby next week for Kos.

Zouma + Bellerin are good for that because they don't cost much and kind of hedge each other in the rotation stakes.

But I already have Kos, so that seems more sideways tbh, I prefer nailedness in defence.

Great scoutcast episode this week guys! Dufflinks spoke a lot of sense imo, especially about not looking too much at the teams behind him. Unfortunately I still think he needs a lot of luck to win it, because at least one or a few of the guys within reasonable range is likely to nail everything from now on until the end of the season.

      1) Never take a hit on a keeper
      2) Saints have the best pound for pound defence in the league and there's a chance they shut Chelsea out
      3) Save points if not
      4) Whoever you bring in could easily concede
      5) Forster plays Burnley, Everton, Hull next

        6) Your replacement starts off -4
        7) You're basically hoping your replacement not only gets a cleanie - but either racks up save points too or saves a peno.

Okay, so Sunday will tell us once and for all whether Toby is ahead of Yoshida in the pecking order:

He was pleased to report however no fresh injury concerns heading into Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge, with Toby Alderweireld in contention to start his first game since returning from injury.

“We are used to skating in Holland as a young kid in competitions. We are used to skating so for us it wasn’t a problem,” he added.

“I know in ice hockey you have a lot of protection and Nordic skiing is not a problem so I wasn’t worried. We have had good training sessions this week.

“It’s always good to have everybody available because it means you have to make sometimes difficult decisions. You need that as a coach and it’s good we have Toby.

“We have no new injuries, everybody is in good physical shape for Sunday.”
