      pretty good 🙂

I made the same move (Sanchez - Ozil) few weeks ago and it worked out great so far ... with all gunners fit and back in first 11 (Giroud, Ozil, Ramsey) I think Sanchez will come too expensive because the points will spread around ... and he is also not a penalty or corner taker 🙂

but now I am thinking Ozil - Ramsey 🙂

Ramsey was great today .. not just goal and assist but his movement. He is often inside the box and his runs on counter attacks are great too 🙂 B

              This ^.

I'm also interested in Ozil or Ramsey instead of the pricey but now needing to share the load Alexis, as well as giroud, but it's all up in the air until arsenal play Monaco.

I hope no one gets hurt in that match....or that Alexis does not score two goals and make you reconsider the moves. This match against Monaco represented an opportunity for you to get even more information to gauge your moves...

Yeah buy what if he doesnt? Ha? Couldnt wait to get crappy Sánchez out. He dreams burners out, just sitting on the wing. Only had two shots. Yeah I might have rushed it but it was necessary, didn't want to wait for price to go up and be able to afford them.

Idk. Seems like a trade at this point with a match in between is an unnecessary risk. "What if doesn't?" If the potential price rise for giroud would mKe it undo able, then that would be a valid reason to rush it.

Very solid side Sporting, after the Saints match, how about a sideways Clyne to Toby trannie to ease any future transfers? Give you enough money ITB to upgrade Austin soon as well.

              10 years, 10 months ago

Yes seriously, and I'm telling you he's 4.7m and is the best value pick in the saints defense. When fit he starts, and I don't think Clyne warrants the extra outlay. Those funds saved can seriously improve his side for the DGW, IMO

I never said anything about value. I said the team is weakened this gw. Which it is, because Clyne has more scoring potential than Aldy. You have no idea what your talking about if you think otherwise which is what you've implied.

You might aswell take a one week punt this gw and improve the side. Only do the Clyne to Aldy trade when you're making a second FT that gw that does actually improve your team.

                1. Nabs Kebabs
                  • 14 Years
                  10 years, 10 months ago

Or you might aswell do nothing this week and lose an FT.Only do the Clyne to Aldy trade another time, again when your actually using the second FT and need the funds. Otherwise keeping Clyne is rather obvious.

                2. Zasa
                  • 11 Years
                  10 years, 10 months ago

😐 Yes, you're right Clyne does have more attacking potential, and no I'm not implying he has more, I'm merely saying those funds invested him would be better put in his front seven long term.

A one week punt? Not sure about that tbh, if he doesn't have a WC, his transfers are limited. I think strengthening his XI by saving up funds for the upcoming DGW is more important.

I can understand that doing the sideways transfer in tandem with another improvement would be the ideal use of it, but nevertheless he has 2 FT's. I see no reason to change his front seven or backline right now, which is why doing the sideways trannie and using only 1 FT now is warranted, IMO.

I don't know how this got to here. My first point was that Clyne to Aldy weakens the team for this gw. Would you rather have Clyne or Aldy this weekend? It sounded like you'd rather have Aldy and now your making a very sharp u-turn and bringing up irrelevant points that having nothing to do with those few words i started with.

😐 I'm putting it into context is all, those points only back up my viewpoints as to why I'd rather have Toby long term. I'd rather have Toby if it means I'll be in a better position come the the DGW. It's a relatively risk-free transfer as well.

                        • 14 Years

Downgrading Sanchez and getting Giroud for Austin are much better transfer this week imo, Toby can wait. Always prioritize transfers in attack imo and be aggressive.

That could work too, and I would also get rid of Austin soonish. Just wouldn't prioritize those moves yet 😀
different way to skin the cat though, those moves may be golden

You would really priorize a downgrade in defence to two attacking moves?

    Forster, Hamer
    Ivan, Kosc, Rose, Naughton, Baird
    Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Sterling, Boyd
    Kun, Kane, Giroud

    2FTs and £0.8m

    Thoughts on the following?

    A) Kosc to Alderweireld and save 1 FT
    B) Sterling to Ozil and save 1 FT
    C) Both
    D) Other..

    Cheers!

Great team, I'd only fo Baird to Alderewiered this week mate. Your team's in solid shape, and would definitely save the other FT. Only critique really is Sterling who is playing as RWB an is not the best Pool milf right now to have.

Baird to Toby would be go-to to get Saints defense

I like Hendo. Just concerned that Gerrards return may force Hendo back into a defensive role and muck up his great form and recent pace of production

I think the Rooney idea may be good, would wait for his game to be over to give a better opinion though.

Hendo, I'm speculative on that one. Not sure he'll be producing those hauls of late on a consistent basis tbh, albeit he does have pens. It just feels like the Schneiderlin trap from earlier in the season.
May be the real deal though

Some of the rash decisions make me laff tonight, I understand most have had a poor GW but doing transfers before the GW is out, mid week games, blanks in GW33, more poss doubles GW34 and hence planning required

I'm not happy at all with my team ATM but will wait until mid week before making transfers

If you have made transfers good luck to you (not being sarcastic)

After a pretty bad GW it's always good to remember it's not about the points...
It's about making the right choices each week.

So, here's your fun fact for the day:
Aguero got off 8 shots w/ 6 of them coming from inside the box & a managed to create a cpl chances too.

Despite him not finding the back of the net, it's these kinds of performances that show he's still a spectacular FPL asset to have.

All of his shots were selfish, daft efforts from acutes angles and/or into a wall of defenders save one.

Pointing out one outlier doesn't disprove the strong correlation that exists between players who take a lot of SiB & in turn, wind up scoring the most goals.

SoT do have their own conversion rate.
Just like SiB have their own conversion rate.

I *know* that Aguero converts aprox. 1 out of every 4 he takes from close range.

So, after a week where he managed 6 SiB we'd *expect* that he'd score 1.5 goals.

                    Math is fun! 🙂

SiB is important but so is SoT. Like Muppet said, his shots were rash and I'd discount at least half the shots he made as irrelevant. Then, take into consideration that he was playing Burnley. Last week Aguero only managed 2 shots in total. Yes you could say none of us envisaged City loosing today, but by no means do I consider this performance and his past performances as reason to suggest he was the obvious captaincy choice this week.

Ok, so 4 SiB is still tops or there about for the week. (Not to mention 2 chances created too)

            > Then, take into consideration that he was playing Burnley.

More reason to captain a player, right? After all, he's playing against a side that gives up a lot of chances.

            > By no means do I consider this performance and his past performances as reason to suggest he was the obvious captaincy choice this week.

I'll be surprised if his underlying stats are topped by anyone this week but, there's still a day to go so never say never.

In the end, at least we can see that he has the ability to produce alongside another striker.

By separating the comments you are disregarding my point. They are all linked.

1 shot on target against Burnley is not good. How will he perform against better opposition if he can't do it against Burnley. Those first 2 points are made were linked but you obviously didn't see that.

His underlying stats will beaten by players who hit the target and also have solid creativity stats. I'm sorry but 1 shot on target out of 8 isn't as good as you make it out to be. Remember Belotelli?

                "23% Goal Conversion (best players)
Overall goal in box to shot conversion rate for all shots taken in the box for the Premier League's Top 10 penalty box goal-scorers"

                Source: http://www.shotsontarget.co.uk/2012/10/very-important-numbers-goals-shots.html

So, miss or hit this week we *know* that 1 out of every 4 shots Aguero takes from inside the box results in a goal.

Note: The variance in any one week is high & this week is a perfect example.

Although, over 38 weeks we'll clearly see that the heavy hitter who manages the most SiB will most likely wind up with the most points.

                SiB = Goals

You need to recognise ebbs and flows in form though. Belotelli and Benteke are great examples this season where they had loads of shots in the box yet were wayward. Aguero is doing something similar right now. It is better to back players who are on form which is evident when they have both shots inside the box AND shots on target. You can't just rely on one stat, you need to see the bigger picture, otherwise you'll have loads of players like Belotelli or Taarabt in your team.

Now I'm not suggesting that Aguero crap, far from it. But I think its reasonable to suggest he wasn't as obvious a captaincy choice as you and many others are suggesting. The man just isn't in form right now, its not quite working out. Of course over the season it will change but as I said. You need to consider the ebbs and flows of form. Benteke is finally hitting form and all those SiB are now coming to fruition because he's fine tuned his aim and he's hitting the target more frequently and ultimately thats what you need.

                    > Belotelli and Benteke are great examples this season

They're great examples of being outliers.
                    This is simply variance sir...

Look, If we a flip a coin & *heads* comes up 10 times in a row it's still a 50/50 shot on it coming up on the 11th try.

Similarly, if a player has a conversion rate of 25% for his SiB we expect 1 in 4 to go in.

Now, if he missed 6 last week or netted all 6 SiB, so be it.
His next SiB still has a 25% chance to go in.

As a result, each time we captain a heavy hitter who manages to get a lot of SiB we came out ahead.

                    We can't be results oriented.

I hate stupid questions about 'what should I do?' Especially this late in the season. The main reason is that everyone's ambitions at this point are different. So when u ask u need to say how much risk you want to take...for many here consolidation of current rank is enough

Lack of context is what annoys especially at business end of this season. end of the day someone 2ho wants top 10k and is currently 1mil needs different advice to someone who needs to stay within to 5k. The one who is already there but doesn't want to push on too hard need not take such a high risk.

How many non-starters will you be willing to sacrifice in GW33? Considering that Arsenal's replay will probably be on GW34 too, and we all probably have at least 3-4 players from Arsenal/Chelsea/Sunderland/Leicester

      Pants
      Ivanovic, Terry, Koscielny
      Sanchez, Hazard, Coutinho, Mane
      Kun, Giroud, Kane

8 dwgers, only 4 changes from my current team would get me here and i have 2ft this week

If all those teams have dgw 34, and Liverpool get through:

      Guzan
      Azpi Bellerin Schlupp
      Hazard Silva Ramsey Sterling/Coutinho
      Giroud Kane Costa/Sturridge

GW 33 team I project ( I can make it with my gws 30,31,32 FTs)
Foster (hope he's well by then)
      Azpi Fonte Dawson Schlupp (Bellerin)
      Hazard Silva Mane Eriksen Boyd
      Kane (Giroud, Sturridge)

I even consider Sturride to Costa for gw 33 and then taking a hit for two midfielders in gw 34

    1. You had Foster as your WBA defender;
    2. You had PVA and had just done a jig because he started; and
    3. You put the armband on Sanchez to be clever.

Now tell me the truth: once PVA was at 0, Foster had been injured on 56, and Sanchez was taken off on 65, you were ready to just quit, right? I mean, it was just too damn much, am I right? I was so down I had to start drinking (OK, it's true, I was already drinking, but still).

So how do you feel now? I mean, how weird did it feel once Aguero had blanked? I had this strange feeling of elation, even though my whole day added up to 18 points. I can't remember feeling anything like this mixture of despondency and relief/exultation since . . . since . . . I guess since the day after I was married . . .

I was an Aguero captainer who went to bed after the 3pm games (too late here) I just knew it was going to be one of those weeks 😆

I bottled the Austin captaincy and went with Aguero 10 mins before deadline, wouldn't have made any difference in the end

Giroud was my other consideration. My VC always seems to be mocking me 😆

Worst transfer I did Giroud out for Austin in the dgw

That caught a lot of people out as did sellling him when he was benched before. I was asleep for that and left Grioud (c) 😆

What made me so stressed was that I had had Aguero all week and literally switched to Sanchez at 11:25. For that hour or two I felt like the biggest mug on the planet.

I had Austin captain so I know what you mean. I wasn't that down but was happy to see sanchez/aguero blank

I think you need to take a break it's only a game and what's more a game that you can't influence once the matches kick off

Ticker above or see fixtures on FPL site - only 8 games scheduled with Hull/Liverpool to be postponed if 'pool beat Blackburn

I meant when will we be those postponed matches played? When will it be officially confirmed in which gw will those matches be played?

Wow. This is really embarrassing. I mean, really? I was the 28th post, waited like two minutes, and ended up as the 30th post? Sheesh. This is my day in a nutshell! 😆 😳
