A dire Gameweek 29 limps to its conclusion this evening as Swansea and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Liberty. Brendan Rodgers returns to his former club having guided the Reds to a 12-match unbeaten run since moving to a 3-4-2-1 formation and the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge have the chance to get amongst the points against a defence with a single shut-out in six in front of their own fans.

At the back, the visitors have been a consistent source of clean sheets in recent matches. The Merseysiders have kept out their opponents in six of the last eight Gameweeks and have Martin Skrtel available after the Slovakian recovered from a head knock that forced him off on a stretcher against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup stalemate last time out. Mamadou Sakho also returns as one of three centre-backs as Dejan Lovren drops to the bench. Rodgers has made further changes in the wing-back roles, with Glen Johnson and Lazar Markovic dropping to the bench: Alberto Moreno is recalled on the left while Raheem Sterling looks to be deployed on the right.

The hosts, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss at Spurs in Gameweek 28. Prior to that defeat, Garry Monk’s men had registered back-to-back victories and earned three points in their previous match at the Liberty, courtesy of a 2-1 win over United.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was back in the goals last time out and has the upcoming fixtures to earn himself a place in our five-man midfields again, whilst Ki Sung-Yeung has notched three times in the last five and, at 5.1 in FPL, is staking a claim as a cheap budget option.

The teamsheet finds Monk forced into one change as Jordi Amat comes in for Federico Fernández who misses out for family reasons. Up front, Bafetimbi Gomis is available to lead the line after recovering from his collapse at White Hart Lane in the previous Gameweek.

    Anyone else contemplating dropping Sanchez?

    Ramsey/Ozil/Mane all very appealing.

If you drop Sanchez for another player it has to be another arsenal or liverpool or you are shooting yourself in the foot for the coming DGW.

Didn't do too badly this week, but still think my team is a bit of a mess. But still have no clue what to really do with my team. 1 FT and 2 mill in the bank

Last year, Liverpool v Norwich, Gerrard headed the ball intentionally towards Suarez, a Norwich player got a touch but it still got to Suarez who lashed it in from 70 yards. No assist given.

They will inevitably do well for 4-6 games, ease themselves out of relegation trouble to impress the new manager then revert back to being talentless, lazy no-marks until said manager is sacked.

      Rinse. Repeat.

Sunderland are a club without ambition
The entire culture around that club stinks
When Di Vanio tried to make them aim higher and work harder, they just went in a mood and didnt try. They win nothing so fans demand nothing. As long as their players can say they are celebrity footballers in the night clubs of the north east and that impresses the girls (intentionally used girls, not women) they are happy to be mediocre and get paid a fortune to not achieve anything

Very true mate. Some terrible decisions have been made behind the scenes. Club is rotten to the core. Changes need to be made at it's heart first before there'll be a difference on the pitch.

Actually good to see you agree. The thing is, Sunderland have potential to be a decent side. Swansea and Stoke and Southamptom arent bigger than Sunderland but have been achieving more recently. Sunderland should be aiming for top 8. Not saying they can over night expect top 6, but this 17th stuff is unacceptable.

Poor. Although he got an assist which shouldn't count, and hit the post.

He looked pretty darn rusty. Lacked pace and energy.

Not allowed to praise up apparently. Spurs were just "sh1t"

the fluidity of position of Rooney, Herrera, and Mata and the bullying of Fellaini is what made them sh1t. they couldn't keep track of players not staying in defined areas of the pitch.

plus it's not news that Vertonghen is very much a footballing defender, better on the ball than off it and Rose has always been suspect.

I'm worried that the re-inclusion of Di Maria might actually throw things off, but if we're bringing him in I would want it to be for Fellaini..Mata and Herrera both played quite well.

also RVP better stay on the bench once he's fit. Rooney 'up top' alone is the way to go.

I genuinely don't think Van Gaal will play Di Maria now, although not too confident Anfield is the type of game for Mata either. Di Maria probably better as an impact sub given his form lately. Fellaini and Herrera will be key again, very much liked the look of Blind at LB too.

Agree on Rooney. Simply has to play the furthest forward from now on. It's his best positon, and we're far more of a threat.

I did as well, he was more defensively sound than Shaw or Rojo..I was worried with Smalling at LCB though..

I could see him continuing to sit Di Maria for another 1-2 games just to show him "you can't eff about under me"

Hit the crossbar late on but don't think he did much apart from that except a rather dodgy and controversial assist.

      it's a silly explanation because

      a) obviously your teammate is your intended destination all the time! it's just often your pass is bad or you are bad!

      b) you could even say maybe he shot it and scuffed it!

      haha

It's nothing to do with being a non owner, it's just a dog turd decision that no right minded person would come to.

I have 2 FTs and am very tempted to use both of them, despite the international break coming up next week.
PvA and Puncheon to Alderweireld and Downing.

Downing has SUN, lei, STO in his next 3, and i think he's worth a punt, only problem is his poor GW33 fixture, he has City away when he'll be needed due to the blanks. Though with City playing like this maybe thats not such a bad fixture.

Should I save one of my FTs this week or can i safely use both?

    Pantilimon (Krul)
Ivanovic, Clyne, Dawson (Hutton, Van Aanholt)
    Hazard, Silva, Cazorla, Sanchez (Wanyama)
    Aguero, Kane, Austin

    A) Sanchez->Eriksen this gw to afford Austin->Costa next gw
    B) Cazorla->Eriksen
    C) A or B with Mane instead of Eriksen
    D) Save transfer
