Manchester United have this morning announced they have reached an agreement with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Shinji Kagawa.

The deal is now subject to the player passing a medical and obtaining a UK work permit and is expected to be finalised by the end of June.

The move ends weeks of speculation and softens the blow of losing out to Chelsea in the race to sign Eden Hazard, with the Belgian completing his move to Stamford Bridge earlier in the week. Reports suggest United will pay £17m to snap up the services of the Japanese playmaker and kick-starts Sir Alex Ferguson’s summer spending spree as he plots to wrestle the title back from neighbours City.

Kagawa, who had one year left on his Dortmund contract, will arrive on the back of an outstanding season for Jurgen Klopp’s double winners. Playing in the hole behind a lone forward in a 4-2-3-1 system, he produced 13 goals and eight assists in just 31 league appearances, with his set-piece ability a firm part of his repertoire.

Much debate is already underway as to exactly where he will fit into United’s system. While some reports suggest he has discussed a central role with Ferguson, Kagawa’s versatility means he can also play on the flanks – indeed, he tends to be fielded on the left for his national side. The knock-on effect on the likes of Ashley Young, Nani and Antonio Valencia out wide could be intriguing, then, though a role in the hole would see Wayne Rooney as the furthest forward and perhaps place question marks against the game time of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez. One thing’s for sure, though; United have snapped up a top-class talent who, at the age of 23, clearly has the best years of his career ahead of him at Old Trafford.

We’ll bring you full Scout Report on Kagawa, discussing his impact in further detail when the move is inevitably finalised later on this month.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hi there. Have a bit of a dilemma here:

    Muller+Kuba+1 mil or Lewa+Ozil

I can use the 1 mil to upgrade Shirokov to Dzagoev (if you can call that an updgrade that is)

    Cheers

He didn't play in any qualifiers and only edged himself into the squad with some good performances for us second half of the season.

Could be a very useful weapon off the bench though...

Maybe, although Menez/HBA/Valbuena will all be competing for that space and therefore it could change quite easily if one plays well off the bench tonight.

            I'd stick to Nasri/Ribery.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the McDonald's game will have player price changes. Surely they will be too small to be of any importance? Are we talking like a limit of 0.3 per matchday? I can't remember if the UCL game had massive price changes.

Also, just confirmed the 3rd place match won't score any points... hahahaha damn.

I reckon it will go by the percentage of people in the game. So it will take a lot less people than FPL to transfer a player in for his price to rise/fall.

Agreed but there will probably be far fewer people playing this so you get far fewer transfers, hence it might cancel out. I think in FPL anyway the transfer thresholds changed over time and were probably set by a percentage of total active players - if you remember using FISO CTC the NTI threshold slowly went down over the season as the number of active players went down.

Anyway in 6 matchdays surely they can't change too much.

In the UCL game most prices barely changed.

The only one to rise significantly was Frei because he was 4m and scoring loads, and he went up to about 4.8 over the course of the year.

Most others were limited to about 0.2 rises/falls, Mata reached 9.7, Messi 14.2/3, Luiz 7.?

None went up too high, and the UCL game was over 3/4 of a season.

The UCL game in the group stages alone had just 6 matchdays like the euros, so I think these small price changes won't affect much.

But any player that scores 2 goals in the first round will likely go up by the second round 😉
