We had 64 fantasy managers going head-to-head across double Gameweek 28, all looking for a place in the next round of the Members Paddy Power Cup II. You can see who progressed by viewing the full set of results right here.

Upsetting the odds this week were seamus and Billy Ketsu, who eliminated the number one and two ranked Fantasy managers in the round. Top seed JimNastics bowed out 67 – 60 to seamus, and second seed herzzz was knocked out 64 – 39 by Billy Ketsu.

Top score this week went to cup regular Bend it Like Bennett, who edged out the third highest-scorer chinmusic 82 – 77. Disastrous luck for chinmusic.

After the round three oddity of no drawn ties, we had a solitary draw in the fourth. Thanks to his slightly superior ranking (43,730th), Raizo comes out on top after his 56 – 56 draw with dlpc (58,650th).

Congratulations to the 32 teams advancing to the fifth round, and hard luck to those defeated. The draw for the next round will be made shortly.

A reminder that our fifth Paddy Power Cup is now open for entry. This tournament is open to all – full details can be found in this post.

Morning all, how can I improve this team? Thanks!

    Krul, Vorm
    Lescott, Enrique, Evans, Santon, Caulker
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, McClean
    RVP, Rooney, Ba

    1 FT, 0.0 in bank

      Considering:

      1) Silva -> Young/Walcott
      2) Ba -> Odemwingie/Pogrebnyak
      3) McClean -> Miyaichi/Moses
      4) Santon -> ???

I'd say there's no need to improve; save the FT for next week.

Same front 8 as me so nothing need change there. My hunch is that high scoring defs are going to be the difference if you are making up ground.

Possibly Huth for Santon if you had the cash.

Priority is probably to get your fill of united players but you might want to leave a week to check on the relative merits of Young/Valencia/Nani.

Otherwise, nothing too wrong with the team.

Then you are an idiot. (Apart from Yaya and Sess, maybe Ramires if he plays a more attacking role...Lennon can be alright some games but is a bit patchy...Modric you just never know...)

    Morning Lads,

Really stuck with what the hell to do this GW. Been umming and arring with what transfer to do.
Any help or pointers would be blooming marvellous.

Got 0.1 in the bank and 1 FT.

    Bogdan (Vorm)

    Enrique, Evans, Caulker, Senderos (Shotton)

    Dempsey, Silva, Bale (McClean, Surman)

    RVP, Roon, Suarez

I know I’m a bit top heavy but can’t seem to part with Suarez for the next 2 GWs.

    Any help would be MD-amazing.

      Silva to Young

I'd also drop one of Caulker, Senderos or Dempsey and play McLean. If you think that game will finish 0-0, drop Clint, if you think Fulham will score drop Caulker if you think both will drop Senderos as Caulker seems to be a BP magnet right now.

I'm interested in getting some opinions on a little predicament of anyone is interested.

I switched Ba to Suarez (whoop whoop) for the double, with the intention of switching straight back again for NOR. Mainly because I half expected Suarez to flop horribly.

Now I'm not so sure. In the main I'm thinking it may be better to stick with the buck-toothed race warrior, but I'm concerned that Liverpool play in the cup before the league fixture (but after the deadline), meaning scope for little Luis to get injured/sent off/rested. Ba on the other hand has a nice straightforward Saturday fixture.

So my question is, with a nod to the above, should the placing of the fixtures have any bearing on my decision in your learned opinions?

This is for free btw and I have no other pressing transfers to attend to at the moment (unless anyone thinks different of course - team linked...)

    Any opinions welcome!

IMO i would get Ba back, L'pool could have ran riot against Everton but Suarez could'nt hit a cows arse with a massive stick!. Demba's due a goal (or 2 or 3 against Norwich!!). I have Rooney, RVP & Ba up front. But hey what do I know, finished top 2k last seas but now lanquishing on 80k. Good luck!!

Maybe slightly peeved that Suarez gets his first double digit haul but the confused logic of transferring on the hope but expecting to transfer out on the expectation is the confused part.

Two transfers = 8pts -> Net gain of 2pts (I assume you would have played Ba)

It was just a one-week punt, nothing more complicated than I thought he'd score more points from two games than Ba would from one away at Arsenal.

I didn't take any hits and won't be if I choose to get him back.

The flop comment was slightly tongue in cheek as a reference to Suarez being a bit if a gamble.

Liverpool have had good fixtures previously this season and done nothing. I have Skrtel and I am considering letting him go to afford Walcott (Id have Walcott, Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Young, RVP, Rooney).

Chelsea coming to form will throw a spanner in the works. I am hoping City maul them and I can keep Silva and ignore Lamps/Drogba.

Plus, as a gunner, I could do with Chelsea losing big time!

Man City are not playing like potential champions at all just now. They seem to lack any conviction going forward. And they don't know their best side either. Too much chopping and changing up front. If he doesn't score after an hour on comes the next striker. Not ideal when you want to form a cohesive attacking side who all know their role.

That's been the problem with Mancini the whole season, he's been chopping all the time which has lead to the fact that he still doesn't know his best striking combo. I don't actually rate him as a manager at all, he does seem to lack player management skills as well... He should've never let the Tevez saga blow up to those proportions, no matter how much he despised the guy. He's there to do a job, and his job is to get results, not bitch about his players. Tevez could've helped him a lot in achieving those results during this season, say what you want of him, but he is a player who can win games pretty much by himself. End of rant.

I currently have Mata, but am thinking I can afford Lampard.

Thinking though that Mata goes now for a Utd midfielder and then Dempsey leaves for Mata/Lampard returning on GW32.

The fact I am looking at both Lampard and Gerrard suprises me massively though! The fact they are both on penalties is massive enticement for both. Think it would be madness to go with both.

His scoring record is still 1 in 2 (if you convert mins played by 90mins to get "full matches2.

He could quite conceivably get another double or even possibly hatrick before the end of the season.

Has played the full 90mins in the last 4 Premier League games.

In all honesty is Torres career not far from being over? His mind is well and truly broken. Do you think Chelsea have appointed a Sports Psychologist to try and rectify this man's demise? It can't continue much longer. He doesn't even try to get into good areas to score. It's as if he deliberately stays on the outskirts of the play so he doesn't have to make shot attempts.

It's pretty sad to see really, confidence is a vital part of life imo, very difficult to get that back, in his case that 50 million tag and the hype over him is exacerbating it I think, to be honest the media is partially to blame for his current predicament. Just before joining Chelsea he scored 4 goals in January with Liverpool itself.

I've never witnessed a fall from grace quite like this! He has gone from one of the worlds most feared strikers to a shadow of his former self. He had it all great turn of pace, power, great shot, great in the air, excellent vision.....I don't know if the injuries have finally taken their toll on him or his confidence is shot to bits.....or maybe Chelsea's style doesn't suit him.

Either way....I think for him to turn the corner he needs to leave Chelsea!

Yeah he definitely needs to leave in the summer and put the Chelsea hoodoo behind him. I'm a United fan but I miss watching the old Torres. He was incredible. Strong enough to battle with the likes of Vidic, quick enough to outrun the best full-backs and his finishing was as good as you'll see. It's not nice to see.

He has lost it. Anyone who says he isnt getting the service at Chelsea is deluded.

Lukaku should play as back up to Didier until we buy a replacement in the summer.

I am still gutted we didnt sign Aguero, i thought the deal was done a couple of years ago. Aguero and Drogba = AWESOME!

Shevas stats compared with Torres make him look like Messi.

Sheva was at the end of his career, wanted one big final payday. Never relied on his pace. Completely different imo. Wasnt as bad as the media made out. I went to nearly all the home games that season.

I thought he played well when he came on last night. I think service is an issue at Chelsea, if you look at the last 4 weeks, players like Holt & Odemwingie have had more chances then Drogba. Balotelli despite playing less minutes has had double the amount of attempts Drogba has had.

As much as I didn't want to do it I've brought gerrard in, purely as a 2 gw punts. Walcott in next week then gerrard to lamps either gw31 or 32. Think dempsey's out after this week. Just hope he doesn't rip it up vs Norwich.

Interesting, think I'll be going puntastic on a couple players from here on in. Remember it working an absolute dream with Kuyt last season. Players seem to hit form and stay strong from here till the end so form transfers are vital!!

Yeah target is top 10K actually, I'd be thrilled with that. Would be happy 30K or higher though, top 5K I'd be ecstatic. Gonna be tough though. Is it me or is it harder this year? I blame the scout for going fully public 🙂

Yeah the standard's crazy. The winner of my mini league last year was only plaed 100k or something silly, I had a bad year. This year most of the same players are still in and pretty much the whole top 10 are in top 100k overall and top 5 in top 50k. I had a good start this year and captaining rooney then switching to RVP and (c) at the start of his run helped. I agree about the punts. It's a good part of the season as a lot of people had similar teams after jan wildcard but not so much now. Proven differentials out there too, like the likes of lampard. I think top 10k is def achievable and with a few good weeks no reason why can't place higher. I'm hoping to hold in top 1k now but if I can get top 500 I'd be estatic!

I never thought I'd be saying this, this season - but Drogba is semi-tempting, purely based on his current form.

The only ones currently ahead of him, for me, are Adebayor, RVP and Rooney, but he seems to be much more in favour under Di Matteo and can see him having a storming end to the season.

I wouldn't say that, Sigurdsson has less than 2% ownership and is a great pick. It's not about ownership it's about how much they'll score, if he only has 2% ownership then it's an added bonus if he does what you expect

it really depends, if you need money get Bogdan. He will not keep many Cs but will make plenty of saves, but could also be dropped. Given is more nailed on, but less value as a points scorer IMO.

I have Mignolet, happy to play him in the next two and plan is to bring in Begovic or Sorensen for GW 31. Wouldn't go near Bogdan regardless of fixtures, Given isn't a bad shout but prefer to go down the Sun/Stoke route.

Wait until 8pm at least tonight.

Valencia injury could flare up if he plays (plus if he plays full match he will be benched on Sunday you would think).

If Rooney starts and plays the majority of the match, I personally think he'll be benched on Sunday, (I'm in the minority though). At least if you wait until tonight and he is benched, you know he will start on the weekend.
