Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

        My thoughts exactly 😛

I don't like Aspas or Giroud or planning too many transfers so probably B.

I think RVP is too expensive though, like you could upgrade Nolan AND Aspas.. or your very cheap defence.

Ibra.It just has to be him. M. will like his back 4 more disciplined as opposed to the previous regime but that does not totally snuff out his attacking threat.
Watching Cole recently, I think he lacks his luster of previous campaigns, but as everyone knows Cole was M's boy not so long ago.

Attacking wise Ibra_I think he will start G/W1 as will Cole.

Wondering why so many are doing three CHE attackers (and some have Benteke on top of that) for the double gameweek.

It looks like most won't play the full 180 anyway, and then you're stuck with all of these players with bad fixtures and blanks for the next two weeks.

And you can't possibly transfer them all out before the blank without using your wildcard, taking a 4-8 point hit, playing with 10 on GW3, or building an awkward team of 8 playable up front (in which you're benching a decent player for GW 1 and 2 anyway).

Is having 3 (or even 4) DGW attackers worth it, especially if most of them aren't even actually playing both games?

I'm rocking Hazard and Benteke right now. This makes an easy transition to Soldado and any midfielder I want, without taking massive hits.

    Thoughts?

I have Haz only ... happy to keep him long term and bench for GW3. I don't need to use costly tranfers for GW2 and Gw3 (taking hits wipes out what you gained in GW1) - i shall save trans for injuries and WC for about GW 10/11.

I have a very similar mind set. Nice to have that free transfer for that player that you don't like but after his 2 goals in the first week you just have to jump on to boost some team value lol

People are just hoping for the best. But you can definitely get through GW3 without needing to use a WC or taking hits.

You can't say whether they are worth it or not until we know how many points they get. It's a risk. It's up to you whether you want to take that risk, but you've got to speculate to accumulate.

I have been thinking the same thing. And I don't like being tied down to having to transfer Chelsea players out. I may need those transfers for something else. Right now I only have Cole and Hazard. I have been debating Lukaku, but I am not convinced he will even play both matches. And in GW2, Chelsea is at Man U so it unlikely they will churn out a lot of points.

I would say don't be boring and go with your gut about the players you think will do well in G/W1.
If it does not pan out for you then play a W/C in G/W3. After all the guy that won FPL played an early W/C did he not?

Just to be sure I'm not going crazy with tiredness and I can go watch Breaking Bad...

    Please RMT 🙂

    Mannone ( Boruc )

    Toure - Koscielny - Collins ( Brayford - Coleman )

    Hazard - Coutinho - Walcott - Mirallas ( Kim )

    Benteke - Soldado - Lukaku

0.0 left, with a straight swap from Benteke to Sturridge or Bony planned for GW1.

I can work RVP in for 8 points but realistically I won't be having him, too much of an outlier price-wise.

I think it has just the right amount of punts, proven heavy hitters, rotation, potential and DGW coverage.. But if Bale stays then I'm in trouble haha

        Cheers for the reply! 🙂

          Any time buddy 🙂

Bale is even more over priced for me, he has to do even more than last season to justify the price tag and I can't see all those wonder goals flying in again and that's ignoring his mindset after the head turning.

            That's a good point..

So realistically the only way he can live up to the hype and better himself as a player is to come to us in Madrid 😀 although he would have Soldado helping him out massively and a more stable CM.... Damn.

I can see Spurs doing well this season regardless! Arsenal need to buy a striker or someone world class to keep up, think this is where spurs overtake them.

I am all for him going to Madrid, I think Madrid are nuts but then Spurs even more nuts for not ripping their arm off if the figures mentioned are accurate. We all know Levy is a hard ass negotiator though so I am sure that have just put 50 odd on the table and will get him for the right side of 80.

Soldado helping him out only mean taking some of his goals away for me. Bale was practically on his own up front at times last season.

We are nuts, I don't understand where in gods name we're getting 80m from.. I honestly don't think we have it so it'll be something like 60m plus a hell of a lot of add ons and clauses to make it about 85 mil.. if it happens.

It's weird, I'd love to see him play for us, because he would fit the counter attacking very well, but I love Di Maria and I don't think Bale is worth the money even if he is young.. Spurs should be grabbing that kinda money and bolting for the door.

Or it could add to Bale's assists as Soldado is a great poacher and could mop up some rebounds for Bale from his inevitable long shots!

Anyways, I'm off to bed, pleasure talkin to ya Texanred! 🙂

Well you got a chunk for Higs and I would expect Di Maria to make way to help with funding too.

If you want to just take Suarez off of us for 60m then I'm all good with that instead!

I've had three since my first draft.

Hazard and Walcott are a must for me.

I have Coutinho because I can afford him. Would have Silva, but liking him less and less right now.

Even when my team had Bale in it, I still had Hazard and Walcott, so you shouldn't really have a problem fitting them in.

I don't know Pele well enough to know how he is with players who are fit but not match fit but I expect to be told on Friday's press conference if he is fit or not so relax for a week and then panic!

I have looked and even made teams in Sky and the Sun but just HATED IT!!!!! I seem to remember the sun is mostly all about their own ratings each week and one of them includes all cup games inc Europe which just seems silly to me.

Each to their own on all but I have enough head aches with FPL and a very costly and hardcore draft league that I play in to worry about getting addicted to another! 🙂

Fantasy Football Scout and the members are slowly transitioning the forum to encompass all forms of Fantasy Football. Last year they affiliated SKY FF and I think members and posters on here rebelled against it. I was in the forefront of the fight against the FPL elite posters and still suffer indignity and prejudice till this day

Fantasy Football Scout now endorses the SKY game and the Sun game and all talk related to those formats are welcome here.

Haha about ten years ago I remember being equally shunned for playing the yahoo one, that thing was crazy though as prices changed non-stop, I remember getting Henry one week and his price going up by over 8m the very next week!

If you win FPL you get tickets somewhere to watch a European game etc non transferable and no equivalent money offered.

In all the other formats of FF you get huge spondooolies .....What the hell is wrong with these FPL train spotters I just haven't fathomed it yet.!!

I'm in it this year anyway because these low lifes have dragged me into there existence.

Haha don't get me wrong I take it seriously and rate myself as a good manager but I am not genuinely in it to win it and so the prizes are fairly irrelevant to me.

And FPL really has become what the purists use and their pricing is challenging and makes sense and points system consistent. Was I not reading on here that in the Sun you might be able to change your captain over the course of a weekend. That is going back to the dark days of FF where its all about short cuts and right time right place.

It does beg a nice question of if you could change one rule to the game that you play what would it be?!

Any person searching Fantasy Football will bump into this site as I did when researching my SKY fantasy picks. The rest is history.

This site is Fantasy Football Scout and I am glad they are beginning to live up to there name.

It will be interesting if even with more and more articles relating to the other formats how many others it attracts as right now I would say although you can gleam information for all formats that it must be 98% based around FPL, but this is my first real year on the site so I don't know how that varies once the season has started.

I think you are correct and they may have to diversify into different forums as the text will not work as it is. I think this forum is FPL full stop with peeps putting up with the posts on the SKY game SUN game and others.

But I think the people behind the structure of this site know they have to accommodate the whole FF community. Otherwise they should patent themselves the community of Fantasy Premier League and nothing else.

Yeah the articles right now on Sky aren't treated as such as instantly comments come in of just RMT's from FPL!!!

I have tried to leave those articles alone so that they are for comments related to the topic of the article but its a pointless venture right now.

The powers at be seem to be doing a great job though and I don't play those other leagues and so long may it contine 😉

It is unsurpassed especially the in depth articles and the knowledge of the posters on here.

Very template for a punty RVP. I haven't heard that Ward is a safe option, but I don't know either way myself just not come up on here and many will tell you that Kaboul is above Dawson once Vert is fit......but no one knows that yet. I would however go for a sure thing as your mid sub though as with Dzeko and Lukaku you will need your bench sooner rather than later!

Can someone give me their thoughts on the below team:

    Mingolet (Davis)

    Mert, Ivan, Coleman (Chester, Brayford)

    Hazard, silva, coutinho, Miriallas (Thomas)

    Giroud, Dzeko, Benteke

Too much to have silva and Dzeko?

Not bad though I hate your choice of goalies. If you want Liverpool defensive cover i reckon Glenn Johnson cut down to £6m offers decent value, or even Agger maybe. Your most glaringly obvious problem is the lack of both Bale and RVP.

For the season: Martin - Bassong - Murner - Garrido looks fairly nailed

If Bassong is not fit then looks like Martin to CB and Bennett steps in for a week or two. And some are talking about Garrido being at risk from Olsson and so Murner looks like a no brainer.

Now you are just being needy 😉

I still think at 4.5m he is a bargain, certainly not lacking attacking potential with 3 goals in 2/3rds of a season last time around.
