Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saints’ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguez’s more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.

As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a player’s form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last season’s data to look at the Saints duo’s performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Mary’s. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, there’s plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Nolan the "safe" bet from these two

Mirallas the punt - it may pay off you never know. But he is OOP and can score but I think 7.5 is over valued when you can have Nolan or Snodgrass for less....

I'm hoping to do two 4.5 keepers. Boruc and Marshall both seem good, but don't dovetail well fixture-wise. I'm leaning towards Marshall and someone else, but can't decide. Even whether I go Boruc and someone else. Or Mannone.

    Obviously, I'm lost.

              Hazza is a shoe in.
I feel you have to have a CHS def as two cs look a real possibility. I'd like to go with Ivan as he is such a goal threat.
Oscar - really need to watch him first. I'm not convinced he's solid ff gold yet due to the threat of rotation and consistency. Steer clear fow now.

It seems Oscar may play in the hole behind the striker,
                With Mata on the right,
And all the others all queuing for a position on the left behind Hazard,
Oscar will get lots of game time in that position

I think there is a train of thought round here that:

          A) Giroud is shite
          B) Dzeko will be replaced by other City strikers
          C) Sturridge is injured and may not come up for GW1

What are you going to do in terms of getting in RVP? He averages nearly 7ppg so when you get him in the chances are his price will have risen.

You need to think things through a little unless you are planning an early wc.

A little too much City at the back unless you fancy City defence to do well. I would swap Hart for Cech for the doubles for the points. I disagree with Jafalad, Lampard will play but only one of those double - highly unlikely for him to feature two games in the space of one week due to age and physique.

I have to say that the frontline could go either way, a good preseason doesn't necessarily make giroud a different player but he is guaranteed game time. studge hasn't played all preseason but will likely be main striker if Suarez doesn't buck his ideas up. dzeko looking good presason but one bad game and it will be rotation time. so they are quite punty but could pay off. they are a good a guess as any but my advice would be by GW3 you will need to have a strategy to get soldado or RVP in case one of them sets off

Appreciate your comments on City Attackers. My gut feeling says Silva still. He has a big season with him I suppose & the most nailed on in City attack. Can't take a risk on Dzeko. Now let's talk about Defenders.

Zabaleta seems to be fav & almost every RMT has him. But don't you think with 0.5 less, Arsenal Defenders provide safer option for first few Gameweeks?

Specially Nastastic injured & Engineer's more attacking style of play means less possibility of Clean Sheets for city this term.Arsenal defenders are 5.5 & perfect to utlize the saved money in attack.

I really want Micah and any encouragement will be in at 5.5

For Arsenal Mert looks the best but still hoping Fabianski gets the jersey would be a cheap way in.

Dzeko out of the gate - at 7.5 mil if he doesn't start first few GW's (unlikely given Manager's comments and pre season) he could easily be swapped out for Lambert or Berb.

I looked hard at Silva but for 9 mil when compared to Coutinho (who is assured starts) i will wait and see what the City midfield produces....

Don't think anyone is writing off Silva's attacking potential, just wary that last seasons form wasn't so great. He will undubtedly score well, but there are others in his price bracket who could score even better. I want a look at 2013/14 vintage Silva before I take the plunge.

I'm not saying I agree, but Mou will not lose Torres without a locked in option. Go review Lukakus preseason. I'm a Chelsea supporter and I had him in my original draft, but I'm not betting on him playing both or scoring big in the DGW

Well given the Family Guy handle you get an extra detailed reply....

A bit too much in defence (what's the point of 5 mil defender on the bench?) Downgrade one to a 4 mil who will play (Brayford or Parr) and use 1 mil to upgrade Aspas to Lukaku for the DGW. Should Aspas prove he deserves his spot in your team you can easily downgrade Lukaku in GW3.
Cole is a safe play, why not Ivanonic for 6.5mil? (more attacking potential)
I compared Gerrard and Coutinho in the member's section (GW 28 - 38 last season as Coutinho only arrive in January) & i urge you to do the same in order to conclude who you want from those two players.

Everything else looks pretty good, best of luck.

Bony is definitely in the bag but I have chosen to go with others as some have the double, great opening fixtures and that temporary form they may carry through from pre-season and last season's. Bony has a tremendous and incredible record of his past season and he links up well with Michu and also seems to have nailed that lone forward spot. The only thing that has made me to not consider him for the first week is his fixture. Then again, I'm convinced he will score or assist against a leaky United defence but currently favouring 'others' due to their circumstances. This may change, though, just one day before kick-off.

      Avoid Dzeko IMO.
All these talks abt Manager's praise are deceiving.

Will wait & see abt Soldado.

Someone in this thread wrote a post about how Aspas is a shadow of Michu. You should take a peek. 😉

His movement and touch is natural and smooth, if he plays, he will Score. A bit of a poucher too.
