Over the last few weeks, a combination of factors have elevated Southamptonโs Jay Rodriguez into many pre-season Fantasy squads. The Saintsโ kind opening run of fixtures has caught the eye, while Rodriguezโs more budget-friendly appeal over Rickie Lambert has also played a part in how we assess his potential across the Fantasy games. Having scored three times in the opening couple of summer friendlies, Rodriguez has been quick to hit form and as interest in the former Burnley man gathers, we use the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to analyse the impact of Mauricio Pochettino on both Rodriguez and Lambert over the previous season.
As mentioned previously, the KPI helps us track certain key statistics which are indicative of a playerโs form over a certain Gameweek range or season. Having ran the rule over Robin Van Persie’s impact at United compared to his final year with Arsenal, we delve into last seasonโs data to look at the Saints duoโs performances from Gameweek 1-22 under Nigel Adkins compared to Gameweek 23-38, when Pochettino was installed as the new man in charge at St Maryโs. By also utilising the Comparison Tool across the two periods, thereโs plenty for Fantasy managers to mull over.
