We reveal the results of the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup VIII, sponsored by Paddy Power, this evening. Defending champion Wild Rover is safely into the next round after edging past frankm8 by 82 points to 78 to keep his chances of reclaiming the silverware alive, whilst a quintet of former winners also make the draw – Jonty, Goonerdave, donnellyc, sleepingmaster and MCH all still harbour hopes of picking up the trophy for a second time.

The Gameweek 12 match-ups brought the first major cup shock, as TitusShambles, the top-ranked manager, was sent tumbling out by Germanphil, who looks a giant-killer to avoid in the next round. Some of our new moderators such as Greenwindmill, Applebonkers, Ryan and Spencer all sailed into the next round.

Amongst the site regulars, the likes of Shipsontrev, The Stock, Christina, The 3rdTurd, Daniel, Eunuch Jelly, superzlatan, Butters, The Shadow, Tommy Tynan’s Left Shinpad, Isacki and Pepin have also progressed.

A special mention goes to Hamp, who produced 98 points in the first round – the highest haul of any manager. He had captain Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez, Romelu Lukaku, Oscar, Philippe Coutinho and Per Mertesacker amongst his main protagonists. King of Burgers also made it through- he was the lowest-scoring winner, having amassed 55 points.

Click here for a full rundown of the First Round ties – we’ll be rolling out Round Two over the next day or so.

Attempting to strengthen my dismal team -

    Ozil > Gerrard
    Lucas > Morrison
    Chico > Mertesacker

    To make:
    Mignolet
Mertesacker Coleman McAuley (Baker and Chester)
    Oscar Gerrard Ramsey Morrison (JWP)
    Suarez Aguero Rooney

-8 hit and 0.5 in the bank

When will Mourinho admit he's wrong and start Azpilicueta over Ivanovic, not only is he a better right-back, but he's also £5.3m. 😉

Surely Mourinho will be shown the door again??

Some excellent football all round. Where do you see Podolski fitting in? AW may just end up using him as back up to Giroud instead of buying a striker.
