Our Monday regular is rolled out again this afternoon, as we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess those players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of Arsenal’s midweek Champions League clash with Anderlecht due to illness, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier today.

Everton
Antolin Alcaraz is set to be sidelined for an extended period of time after he was forced off early on during the weekend goalless draw with Swansea. After the match, Roberto Martinez went on to say:

“He has damaged the joint in his shoulder. We’ll assess it but he could be out for a long spell. We’ll help Antolin all we can and try to help him back before the second half of the season.”

Hull
Centre-half Alex Bruce missed the Tigers’ 1-0 home defat at the hands of Southampton with a hamstring injury. Earlier today, Steve Bruce rolled out an update on the defender’s likely period of absence:

“Alex got injured in training on Friday, one of the last kicks of the session. It’s a hamstring but we don’t think it’s too serious. It’s probably going to be two, three or four weeks.”

Leicester
Leonardo Ulloa was utilised as a sub as the Foxes suffered their first home loss of the season against West Brom on Saturday. After the 1-0 defeat, Nigel Pearson explained his reasons for benching the Argentine:

“He had a groin problem, which we had scanned last Sunday. It was a case of not really wanting to risk him from the start today. I don’t see that as being anything negative. He was on the bench and had no problems afterwards. It wasn’t worth the risk to start him.”

Manchester City
Eliaquim Mangala missed yesterday’s Manchester derby due to a hip injury, according to reports in the local press. Aleksandar Kolarov was originally named in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI but picked up a problem during the warm-up and was replaced by Gael Clichy.

Manchester United
Rafael was absent from the Etihad showdown after picking up an injury in training, United’s official twitter account has confirmed.

Marcos Rojo looks set for a stint on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a shoulder injury midway through the second period. After the match, Louis van Gaal admitted:

“”His shoulder is out. We don’t know how long that will take. I have to wait until Monday. But he shall not play against Crystal Palace, I don’t think.”

Newcastle
Gabriel Obertan could be set for a spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off with a thigh injury against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. After the 1-0 win, Alan Pardew admitted he fears the worst:

“The only real big problem we had was losing Obertan which was a big blow as he’s been outstanding. It looks like he’s got a bad injury and we’re all really disappointed for him.”

Pardew also revealed he withdrew Papiss Cisse at the break as he reckoned the striker was still suffering the effects of a recent injury:

“I just felt that Papiss wasn’t moving quite normally. He has got this irritation on his knee – he thought he was OK, I slightly disagreed with him and we’ll probably still disagree on that, but only in the right possible way.”

West Brom
The Baggies left-back Sebastien Pocognoli was subbed off towards the ends of the weekend win at Leicester through injury.

West Ham
Winston Reid was forced off early with a thigh problem during the weekend draw at Stoke, though Sam Allardyce confirmed post-match that the injury “wasn’t too serious”.

Main rivals has krul coming in for mannone . This gameweek just keeps giving to some. How people can play a sunderland defensive player at the moment ahead of foster or krul is crazy really.

Because at the start of the season Krul Mannone was the best and cheapest rotation and Mannone had a better fixture on paper this week

Wudnt agree with that. Sunderland away and newcastle at ahome. I follow liverpool and knew we would seriously struggle to score.

Sunderland leaking goals all over the place and tricky away game there for them tonight.

Seriously you expected Liverpool not to score? Tbh I wasn't expecting a clean sheet from either this week so just went with the one who i felt had the better fixture - Mannone.

            Luckily it's worked out.

      What's Sanchez' injury history like?

Getting injured would solve a selection dilemma

UFPL question: Sanchez is my VC, if I bring in Mannone and captain him will the captaincy still switch to Sanchez? Thanks in advance.

If Fellaini was told to get forward more, with ADM's crosses it would prove very fruitful.

Always? Hmm not sure this is true. Had Moore vs C.Dawson last week and went for the away player. Not that it would have mattered in the end with Moore benched but the point is valid

Agreed. I should say that rule shouldn't apply to weak teams/uber cheap defenders.

But the guy above is talking about starting an Arsenal player?!?

                  When does your rule apply?

Erm, start Naylor (over Chambers) since Swansea is good defensively and playing at home.

If you have Burnley/Leicester etc then think twice about playing them (even at home) over defenders from bigger teams.

                    Does that make sense?

So your rule is always play the home defender unless that defender is uber cheap. That sum it up?

A little, but looking at the weekends fixtures you could make some of it back this GW. I've owned Eriksen for the last two weeks, very frustrating after he had shown good form. Terry seems to have lost his goal threat and Chelsea conceding regularly, although Liverpool haven't scored many recently.

                Yea I would.

His stats are off the wall and he constantly looks dangerous. Also the focal point of an attacking team. QPR are looking a little stronger and city faltering a tad..but even so multiple goals are the most likely outcome, and Aguero is involved in most of citys goals.

Yeah I'm not in favour of it either tbh. If it was only a cs I wouldn't have been as nervous but still think I'll not be benching my decent players any more just in case.

So many fires need putting out now due to Eriksen being poo/subbed and same for Lukaku, annoying as both have good fixtures. What would you do?

          Elliot/Krul
          Bertrand, Duff, Baines,Hutton, van Aanholt
          Sterling, Eriksen, Fábregas, Sánchez, Wanyama
          Pellè, Lukaku, Welbeck

Lukaku and Welbeck to Sakho and Kun (-4). Lukaku doesn't look fit and Martinez obviously feels the same as he was nailed last year, they spent an extortioante amount of moey on him and he hasn't started every game and has been getting hooked as well. may as well keep Eriksen, though i'd wait to see the teamsheet on Thursday as Poch often gives away clues.

Mixed responses. Not really surprising tbh but I am leaning towards Cesc even though I've had him since GW 1. Just think that Haz's stats are improving and have done so quite a lot in the past 4 weeks. Combined with penalties, he will outscore Cesc although he won't do it in a consistent manner.

C but with ADM instead of Hazard

            Reasons:

            A - its Chelsea overkill

          Begovic
          Clyne Baines Bertrand
          Fábregas Sterling Sigurdsson Chadli
          Diego Costa Pellè Agüero

          Subs: Green Hutton Taylor Marney

          2ft 0.1 ITB

          I'm thinking:

Sterling, Clyne, Bertrand -> Di Maria, Collocini and Dummet

Southamptons fixtures are taking a turn for the worse in a couple weeks time and the only way I can afford to upgrade Sterling is to go budget in defence, I liked the double up in defense with Southampton and Newcastle seem a lot more resilient now, with fixtures in their favour too.

          Thoughts?

Tough one with the timing of that given Sotons next two you'd bet they could keep clean sheets in both. I'd give it a rethink. Don't hate the idea of getting Costa out to fund the Sterling upgrade then save transfer then get costa back in for a hit and downgrade Berty and Clyne after their next two fixtures are up.

          Which is better:

          A) Keep Welbz
          B) Welbz to Pellè
          C) Welbz to Sakho

            B) Welbz to Pellè this week, then downgrade to Sakho and upgrade somewhere else
