Season after season we’re seeing new weekly and daily Fantasy Football games launch and compete for our attention. It’s become obvious that these types of games are here to stay and are growing at pace.

This summer has been no different and it’s became clear that we needed a new approach to dealing with the games and to help guide those who decide to dip into them.

While we’ve limited ourselves to working with two full-time weekly/daily game partners in previous seasons, this time around we’re going to be more fluid over the course of the campaign.

You’ll see a number of games appear on our pages, some new, some familiar, although we’ll never look to cover more than two dedicated games in any given Gameweek.

In addition, we’ve a new approach to discussing these games and guiding your involvement.

We’ve recruited the 2013/14 Fantasy Premier League champion, Tom Fenley and we’re setting him a challenge.

He’ll get £100 stake money in every game that we include on our pages and we’re challenging him to use his undoubted Fantasy Football talent to turn that into profit.

Tom will be here updating his progress in each game, mulling over the options presented in a bid to build on his stake money.

He’ll also be providing a new “Weekly Shop” article in midweek which will detail his thinking for his player selections, outlining those picks that will be the mainstays of his weekly/daily lineups and those budget “enablers” that allow for big spend elsewhere.

In this way, we hope that we can help guide your strategies in whatever game you’re playing, whilst giving you an insight into playing some of our partner games week to week, including the prizes and formats they may have on offer.

In the meantime, we’d appreciate your views on daily and weekly games and will be starting a Hot Topic later this evening to capture your thoughts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

apart from our wonderfully weird manager would anyone like to hazard a guess at man utds 11 for the spurs game?

players like mata and herreira are somewhere in my thoughts for final draft but can't see them both playing

Mata should start in a front 3 with Depay and Rooney, and Herrera is far from nailed in one of the CM slots that about 6 players are fighting for.

like everyone I've prob had 10 different drafts so far - depay has been in most of them. whats putting me off is our slow start last season....decent enough fixtures but same in 2014/15.

was hoping mata would play central, too slow to play wide, tho great end to last campaign

I especially dislike the bench boost - it bears no resemblance at all to the real world. At least you could, in theory, play 2-5-3 (AOA). As for the captain's triple .... nah.

Why have City sold Jovetic AND Dzeko, I know Sterling can play there but he's not - currently - a great finisher so they only have Aguero and Bony as established strikers. Surely they are confident of bringing someone in if they've let Dzeko go as well?

Don't want Sakho away at Arsenal but I want him from GW2 onwards, Wilson has a good GW1, or might get a LEI attacker instead. I'm not gonna jump on whoever scores well GW1, I know my XI are good picks. Main risk of this strategy is if another player gets injured so you need the transfer to get him out. In that case I'd just go without Sakho for GW2

I have the same dilemma with Sakho. Instead of using a transfer Im leaning towards using 3-5-2 (might rotate ritchie or someone else with good fixtures for sakho gw1 and gw4 then WC gw5) or 4-4-2 in GW1. Probably 3-5-2.

The All Out Attack, Bench Boost and Triple Captain chips can each be used once a season and are played when saving your team on the my team page. They can be cancelled at anytime before the Gameweek deadline.

The Wildcard chip can be used twice a season, once in the first half of the season (before 28 Dec 14:00) and once in the second half of the season. The Wildcard chip is played when confirming transfers that cost points and can't be cancelled once played.

I like it, mainly because until recently that was my midfield (I'm getting cold feet about Walcott after Sunday).

People will probably say your defence is weak, but given the strength of the opening fixtures that's the route I'm going down as well. Except I'm going to stick in Azpi or Ivan yet, not sure which.

Kane is confusing me at the moment (in a purely football sense I can assure you), and with viable alternatives in Pelle and Benteke I'm going to hold fire on him.

The biggest headache I have at the moment is Hazard. I don't think he's going to justify his pricetag but with nearly 60% ownership I don't think I can leave him out.

      1. TINO TINO GIVE US A WAVE
        • 13 Years

Yes I also share your worry about Walcott too! Would ozil be your preferred alternative? Yeah the defence is weakish without the of koscielny or azpi so I'm going with Kane as he's on pens bit can downgrade him easily to pelle or benteke if he doesn't start well! Kane being their main man and on pens is too good to pass I fee! Hazard was the 1st on my team! Absolute no brained! Best player in the league and in fpl gold being on pens I think mane will have a good season and didn't want to go with pelle and mane so again Kane was the preferred option there!

Thank you for your response though! Very helpful!!

Which is a better defensive trio?

    A) Ivanovic/ Mertesacker/ Williams
    B) Azpilicueta/ Koscielny/ Kolarov

I have Huth also who rotates well with Williams. Think Kolarov is worth a punt at the start of the season with Clichy possibly out.

Also, do people think a Chelsea defender is a necessity?

    I think I am just about to finalize my team;

    Schmeichel - Myhill
    Cédric - Azpilicueta - Williams - Francis - Ward
    Hazard - Henderson - Cazorla - Sterling - Wanyama
    Rooney - Kane - Deeney

Of course I have that 'Arsenal midfield' issue, I still think about Ozil and Ramsey.

I can make Sterling-Toure and have a 0,5 in the bank. Maybe I may upgrade a defender with that.

    And I have a Myhill-Ward or Hennessey-Dawson issue..

    What do you think?

it's good, although I feel you're missing an arsenal defender as they should be pretty solid

I don't want to have two Arsenal players in the team, for that I can make Cazorla-Mane and Cedric-Mertesacker which am a little far away.

    anyone tempted to play 4-4-2?

I have Rooney Lukaku and Wilson as my strikers currently, but downgrading Wilson to a 4.5m striker like Danny Graham would mean I could upgrade two of my 4.5m defenders that I'm currently rotating with Azpi and Koscielny.

There's a lot of good value 5m defenders that I think could potentially out score a cheap 3rd striker like Wilson, I'm interested to see peoples thoughts?

I'm going 4-4-2 (see my pencilled in teams below). I think it offers a lot more options and more PPG than midfield/striker heavy teams.

Interested to hear what other people think?

Help please I'm stuck, which team is better?

    KANE C.Wilson Sakho

    Ivanovic Koscielny Azpilicueta KOLAROV Targett

Being honest the forward lines of both teams seem a little weak but that is because there is a lot invested in defence. I would downgrade one of your Chelsea defenders and upgrade the forward line.

Regarding the questions themselves, definitely go Cedric above Kolorov in my opinion as he is not nailed on and City are poor in defence.

I think Id prefer Milner to Chadli but there is not much in it, both are good mid priced midfield options.

I would go Benteke above Kane but being honest I dont have either. Id try to upgrade to Rooney if you can.

I'm not keen on the double chelsea defense, spread the risk a little and funds could be used on midfield.

I prefer B with Chadli and Kolorov (although he is a rotation risk).

      -keepers are spot on
-would lose a chelsea defender - not easy fixtures and you'd be loathe not to play 4 at the back
      -prefer cedric due to fixtures
-would throw targett 4 another 4.0 to free Sakho > pelle
-great mids, but rambo over caz after Community Shield. Milner all day
      - lukaku wk1 to benteke week 2. but benteke if you have to have a choice now. as said, Sakho>Pelle for me

        Thanks guys!

The expensive defence is a new deliberate tactic which I may well end up regretting, (felt the need to try something drastic after I had a particularly poor season last year)!

I'll look at swapping Azpi for another defender... I guess my issue is that I don't trust United, City or Liverpool to keep CS yet and West Brom and Everton have massive injury crises which makes me doubt them.

Because barring the death of close family members or injury he basically always starts and he's got no obvious competition on the left of Spurs' midfield three.

Looking at Sterlings history over the last couple of seasons he has got bugger all bonus points in relation to how many goals/assists he has managed. Is he not a FPL bonus point type player?
