The Community started preparing for Christmas early this week with strikers topping their shopping lists. Our community writers and hot topic posters were on hand with some useful advice on the best forwards to purchase as well as how to earn some extra cash. Our Members tables take a close look at Liverpool players, while we see who is already in the festive party mood in our community leagues round up.

The Community Articles

When Wild Rover gives advice about winning cash in Fantasy Football, the community takes notice. The regular poster recently scooped a £1,000 monthly prize in Ultimate Fanasy Premier League and urges those playing the game with a poor overall rank to switch tactic towards these more regular goals. This prompted a further discussion on how some of the community are also favouring short-term gains above overall rank playing Fantasy Premier League.

For those looking to maximise their points in Gameweek 14, our regular community writers were on hand with a wealth of advice. The Sarjeant dropped by with his colour-coded look at latest team form, YMA has popped down the bookies once again for inspiration, while Seaman has been visiting the fans forums to gauge their opinion on the weekend’s games.

Meanwhile, Rakkhi has taken an in-depth look at fixture difficulty to see how it affects the performance of the game’s top strikers and captaincy candidates.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Finding the best striker options is proving tricky ahead of the packed festive schedule, with plenty of forwards having great fixtures as well as showing superb form. Beavis’s discussion on Christmas striker shopping shows just how tough it is to pick just three.

There was further chat about strikers with the best fixtures from Irish Madrista, while our discussion on Sergio Aguero revealed that opinion is divided as to whether the Manchester City man is an essential purchase this winter.

For Limpar, Christian Benteke looks one of the best options, particularly with Liverpool’s kind upcoming run. However, he is less enthusiastic about Romelu Lukaku’s chances this week of goals, after investigating how well Bournemouth have tightened up at the back in recent Gameweeks.

In midfield, Balders has revisited his regular look at how the mid-price midfielders have fared this season. His update shows that just four players in this price range, including Ross Barkley, have either met or exceeded expectations so far.

Those with Barkley certainly had reason to be cheerful after his Gameweek 13 brace. This week’s Rough with the Smooth details how the week’s top performing players either helped or hindered our community’s Gameweek scores, while our latest Hall of Fame update details how last weekend’s games effected Fantasy managers’ career-long standings.

Although Francis Coquelin is far from a viable Fantasy option, his lengthy absence through injury could effect the points potential for Arsenal’s defenders. Sinik wonders whether without his protection the clean sheet prospects for the likes of Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscielny could be at risk.

There is also concern, from Mark II, that Arsenal’s attacking output this weekend could be dented due to improvements in Norwich’s backline following their drubbing away to Newcastle earlier this season. This could prove costly to those considering captaining Alexis Sanchez, however there is still considerable optimism that the end to his Premier League goal drought is in sight.

Another cause for optimism in a Gunners’ goal bonanza is that Arsenal take on the Canaries on a Sunday, a far better day for attackers, according to Dynamic’s look at the best days of the week for goals.

Finally, The Rains of Castamere became the latest community member to be inspired by music. In his look at the best strikers, he used Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody to separate the very frightening from the forwards capable of bringing thunderbolts and lightning to a match.

The Members Tables

For those looking to tap into Liverpool’s good form and fixtures, Doosra has made this table looking at their best passers and strikers. Budget and premium options that are due points are also covered in my latest goals and assists imminent tables, while attack-minded defenders are the focus of Balders’ latest table.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, wh05nxt hit the top score in Gameweek 13 with 107. There are now 1411 teams qualified after 129 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 46.

Balders dropped by with a look ahead to the latest fixtures in the FIFFSA 5-a-side tournament and his Community Grand Play Offs.

The FFS UEFA Champions League themed tournament has reached the fifth round of the group stages. Here’s Jaffalicious with an update on the latest results.

Andy continues to hog the limelight at the summit of the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league, while Stewart White is the new leader of the Top 10k Any Season mini-league, which is organised by RedLightning.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Any obvious transfers? Willing to take a hit. Possibly looking at Sagna > Moreno as Zab is back or Rojo /Janmaat> Moreno? I also have enough ITB to do Wijnaldum > Firmino

    Hennesey (Butland)

    Sagna Richards Janmaat (Rojo, Prodl)

    KdB Sanchez Mahrez Wijnaldum (Westwood)

    Vardy Lukaku Aguero

Need to get Aguero sometime within the next 4 weeks, but definitely not this week. So, here are my two ideas, and tell me which week to do which one...

    A) Sanchez+Ighalo ➡ +Coutinho+Aguero
    B) Lukaku ➡ +Aguero

Sanchez, Ighalo and Lukaku all have great fixtures. Maybe you can ride it out without Kun for the next 3 weeks then reassess.

I think he'll start, but you're right it's annoying as it's enough for me to change my captain choice. Those with better things to do on Friday night will go into the GW with him still captain and come off better for it 😕

Ayoze > Deeney ahead of avl, NOR, sun was worth -4, right? Newcastle are just not winning any possession in the opponent's half and I'll need my 3rd forward to be contributing if I bring in Aguero next week.

Really can't understand the hype on here about Firmino

Liverpool beat Man City 4-1 due to a combination of the correct tactics and Pellegrini selecting the wrong CB pairing that backfired massively. Man City were awful and deserved to be beaten, but were Liverpool really THAT good?

Firmino scored his first goal for Liverpool in over 350 minutes of PL football, due to being fielded in a CF position. With Benteke back fit and likely to be up top, will Firmino back on the wing really be that appealing for 8.0m? Not to mention that it seems Benteke isn't even on penalties now.

I can understand the Coutinho appeal, due to his recent form, but will it continue? Historically it won't, but depending on what Klopp is doing differently, I guess it could this year.

I reckon the points could be very spread out, especially when Henderson returns and set pieces are spread out even more.

Looks like a really good early doors punt to me. Sometimes they go wrong and sometimes they work out fantastic. Good pick.

he has looked very good the last month and the goal will give him confidence. got another assist last night and just keeps looking better

kinda annoying how everyone is saying we only beat City because of their backline, we put 4 past the best team in the league without a striker on the pitch for most of the game. yes we were that good and had our share of injuries. Klopp has made a huge difference and apart for the CP game we have looked a different team, more in control and actually playing within a system as oppose to the recent games with BR with out of position players and odd tactics that made no sense. We have been conceded a lot less chances and scoring more

Firstly one was an own goal, City were missing Kompany and Pellegrini decides to play his two slowest centrebacks against the speed of Coutinho and Firmino. It was pure suicide. Not to discredit Liverpool, they performed very well but it was exacerbated by City's poor defence imo.

City were beaten by Spurs 4-1 yet nobody bat an eyelid in the same way as this Firmino hype is going. He's not going to be playing CF every week. He will be wide most of the time. Too much being based on 1 game, and a once-off mauling off City being viewed as "form".

Okay so he might play central while Lucas serves his suspension but after that? Could easily go back wide if Lallana is dropped since he has played there earlier in the season

Either way he won't be CF every game

What does lucas have to do with firmino's position? He plays centrally whether its upfront or behind a forward. He is more a forward than a mid.

Well the likelihood is that Benteke is going to start

Since Coutinho is out, Lallana is almost guaranteed to start out wide

That mean the other wide position has to be filled by either Firmino or Ibe, and I can't see Ibe starting

why would he replace Lucas? that makes no sense. Lucas is a defensive mid and Firm in attacking midfield/forward

        2. djenzio

it was an own goal sure but it was forced by very good play and a really dangerous cross.

yes he played two slow centre backs but I am sure he had his reasons, he is a very good manager and as I said we had our fair share of injuries too

The Spurs win was amazing too and Spurs have been really solid this season and getting better and better. Firmino was on many peoples radar after his season last year and with his performances improving the last month he has been gaining more notice, the goal just set off the train and i think he is a good pick. But it seems to me you are slandering the Liverpool win for no reason, If you don't think Firm is a good pick fair enough, but if you look at his performances recently then you might reconsider and now he seems to be turning those performances into FPL points.

Sorry for getting annoyed I just find it insulting to say City were poor and asking if Pool were that good....

really getting annoyed at people not giving Pool credit for outplaying City. people will always find an excuse anyway and as I mentioned above it's not like Pool had a fully fit squad. We were missing Sakho, Hendo and Sturridge, 3 of our best players

his record so far is very good, esp with the fixtures; only one defeat and not that we deserved to beat Palace but it's not like they mauled us, they pretty much only had 2 chances and took them and they have a good record against us.

it's not just one game though, our record against the top teams this season is very good apart for Utd but with Klopp he has beaten City and Chelsea away, something we have struggled with for years and got a pint at Spurs who have been very good this season esp at the back

Black Friday deals have looked a bit rubbish to me.

I appreciate this is ignoring your original post, but that is no different for me - I just don;t normally comment on them too 😉 😯

Even if he is injured, Wenger won't let him even touch that bench of theirs

Who hasn't ?..Everybody has faith in him. Not a single poster doubts he is a good pick but quite a few are struggling to fit in every good striker pick at the moment...mainly because there are too many.

      James!
Finally found you, was looking at your team and saw you did a -4 to bring Aguero in? Can you confirm this?

Whatever it is, the deadline for deciding who to bench arrived already and for future I would prefer an email giving me your team plans, if nothing else before 2300 GMT.

      I would play Henn btw.

Got Payet sinking me out but already used my FT, do I:
A: Swap for Deulofeu and play him (Mane first sub)
B: Keep him, play Mane (Richards first sub) and wait until next week and swallow 0.1
    Cheers!!!
