The summer months offer Fantasy managers a chance to take stock of the season gone by and get some early preparation in for the next campaign. Our community writers had plenty to analyse as they looked at the key lessons learned from 2015/16. Getting the perfect Fantasy team for Euro 2016 games was a chief issue for our hot topic posters, as was the arrival of Jose Mourinho, and possibly Zlatan Ibahimovic, to Manchester United. We finish this latest round up with a look at a new international-themed community tournament and find out who completed a long and winding 2015/16 Premier League season with top honours.

The Community Articles

Our community writers have been assessing the previous season to see what it can teach Fantasy managers as they look ahead to 2016/17.  Kavali recommends keeping an eye on experienced managers’ moves, rather than the top 10,000 in the overall rankings. His final article on Fantasy Premier League veterans’ progress this season revealed that despite a rocky start it proved to be their best campaign on record. Watch out next season when this article series returns in expanded form.

Ignoring pricey picks and taking risks on cheap players is among the lessons learned by RuthNZ as he recounted how he turned around a ghost ship team for the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, getting to grips with the new chips was among other criteria for success, looked at by Bowstring the Carp in his analysis of 2015/16’s marked differences from previous years.

Could making no transfers at all be the lazy and unlikely secret of success? Red Lightning’s research into the optimal dead team, that is made and left alone from Gameweek 1, found that such a team would have beaten this season’s FPL champion by a massive 79 points.

There were plenty more points to pick up in Ludo’s look at the psychology behind Fantasy Football management.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Euro 2016 preparation continued in earnest this week as we took a look at the best midfield options and Balders revealed what the bookies are saying about the tournament. In addition, Konig Luther was on hand to unearth the key player stats during the qualifying matches.

Early discussion around the next Premier League season also came to the fore, as we looked at which team is likely to repeat Leicester’s perfect storm in 2015/16 of good management, fit players, few cup distractions and strong team spirit.

The decision by Manchester United to oust Louis van Gaal in exchange for Jose Mourinho also sparked some interesting debate, as Ryan looked at how the former Chelsea boss is set to affect the Red Devils’ team, once his contract wrinkles have been ironed out. We also considered whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is strongly rumoured to be a transfer target for Mourinho, will appeal to Fantasy managers.

Staying in Manchester,  a revolution is brewing at United’s local rivals. We asked for your views on speculation that just three of the current Manchester City squad are set to feature in new manager Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Following on from his 2015/16 retrospective community article, Bowstring the Carp canvassed the community’s thoughts on whether FPL should introduce even more chips, that could be best utilised anytime during the season rather than around double Gameweeks.

We also followed up on Ludo’s community article with a hot topic to find out the community’s psychological pitfalls when it comes to managing their Fantasy team.

The Community Tournaments

Doosra and Ginkapo sent a dispatch from their Long and Winding Road and FA Cup of Tea competitions to detail those who ended 2015/16 with the most bragging rights.

Greenwindmill earns himself a rather smart musical-themed tea set for scooping top honours in the FA Cup of Tea.

Meanwhile, In the Long and Winding Road main league LaterRiser12, who finished 77th in the overall rankings, was crowned champion.

In the LAWR head to head leagues the winners were Evs, HVT, MsRed19, Giggs Boson, Greenwindmill, Saniul and Doolittle.

Elsewhere, Fantasy Football Frog is launching a community tournament around the Euros 2016. More details can be found here.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

        Number of free transfers
        Group stage: one per matchday
        Round of 16: unlimited
        Quarter-finals: 4
        Semi-finals: 6

Thanks Adam. I know the fundamental rules which you've copy and pasted. My question is. If I do not choose to transfer between match day 1 and 2. Will I get 2 transfers for 3?

The importance being I'll have a 4.0 dude as defender. Cannot get someone for him gameweek 2. So will use his price plus gw2 guy for a stronger gw3 (and also hopefully a 4mill dude that plays).

Well, I've caved into anti-Ronaldo pressure. As a result, I don't have to rely much on Aduriz to pick up points.

However, I have to rely on this lot:

    Rui Patricio(Sommer)
    Koscielny Rodriguez Dier (Denayer, Carvajal)
De Bruyne Ozil Matuidi Alli (Rafa Silva)
    Muller(c) Kane Giroud

    Have I finally cracked it?

How are you considering Carvajal? Cheap maybe? Giroud the same, think he's nailed on?

      1. ★Kuntheman★
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Cheap. Don't know if Giroud is nailed on but his only competition seems to be Gignac and Giroud's had the most shots over the last few games

      • 10 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

No no no no... Not at all. Three problems need to be solved:
      A. Matuidi (low goal threat)
      B. Alli (not nailed)
      C. Carvajal (Juanfran ahead of him)

Who then would be nailed in the England attack?

          • 10 Years

          Kane and Rooney

I think Matuidi will prove to be a hidden gem. People are underestimating his penchant for getting forward.

Do we really think Alli isn't nailed after his Spurs season and the way he performed against Germany?

        Carvajal is just a punt.

Agree with you on Matuidi, his stats show promise as well. I feel the same way about Alli, but comments like this give me second thoughts.

Of course there is. Kanté has impressed, and Deschamps sees him as playing the same position as Matuidi. So normally only one of them will play, and if Kanté plays the last friendlies better it may as well be him.

Could only watch the first half properly if I'm honest, but well enough signs to justify my statement. Some of his hold up play was calm and effective, his movement was good, and he didn't look the least bit overawed by the game. Composure doesn't just mean in front of goal.

Hi, I'll be doing a Euro draft later and I was wondering if there is a printable player list for the McDonald's game. The FPL game usually has one but I can't find one for the Euros.

I really don't like the new site for a great many reasons. The one I see now is...

Why underneath the latest article, is the Albania article which was published days ago? And way farther below is Switzerland which was only published on Friday?

Needed to check and then check again, but this does appear to be the current article. Good luck to Real Madrid.

    Good morning DZ.

    Draft #57

    Like the look of this.

    Lloris
    Schar Gilk Vrsaljiko Eliseu
    Grosicki Hamsik Perisic
    Griezmann Mueller Shaqiri

    Forde Alaba Denayer Sigurdsson

Not worried about a back up keeper.
    Nothing in the bank.

    Thanks.

Am I right in saying that we are on the same page as the one I left earlier on this morning?

I can still see my gracious post congratulating England on their fine victory last night up above. 🙄

Who is the best pick from France Squad?

Matuidi. I know he's defensive but he still chips in with goals and assists

The lad who's going to score the winning goal tonight.

I have Giroud, Pogba, Kos. The first two because of their price. Griezmann seems to be the most popular, but he's 10.0 and listed as a fwd but plays in midfield. Too bad Payet is a rotation risk.

    Bit quiet round here...

Appreciate some thoughts on this first draft.

    Neuer - Randolph
    Djourou - Pique - Sagna - Barzagli - Fonte
    Ozil - Matuidi - Perisic - Blaskckykowski - Tielemans
    Mandzukic - Morata - Muller

I realise Tielemans won't play just needed someone cheap.

A bit different but I like it.Not sure if Fonte will play ahead of Carvalho and Rafa Silva is cheap and might play some minutes as compared to Tielemans.

Just about to have a look into Euros Fantasy. Literally just starting, any tips? top picks? must haves? overpriced players? etc etc

Get two players each from Austria, France, Germany, Portugal and one each from Spain and England. Lot of value in midfield- not so much in attack, so I guess you'd like to stick to the big guns up front.

de Bruyne, Pogba, Alaba, Perisic, Mak.

A little costly but fancy that midfield?

Ok cool, just saw no Weiss or Hamsik either; when Mak didn't even make the bench I was slightly concerned!

Probably. But Mak, Weiss and Hamsik are surely their first choice midfield.

He plays last so if you start him, he's set in stone no substitution will remove him
