The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

    Anybody else a non Ibra owner moreso just pissed at the known casuals in your league who got Ibra in from the off sitting pretty at the top...

      I've just knee-jerked him in for a hit.

      The penalties seal the deal. Not having him was always a risk, I'm just upset I gambled the wrong way.

        Is Ville Ronka casual? Ibra was the always going to be the flashy casual pick. Turns out it was a good one at that.

        Hate all this "casual" chat. If you played the ownership game because you understood no Ibra was a big risk is that "casual"? No.

          Yes.. I'm not saying everyone in the game who picked up Ibra is casual. Don't be so dense.

          I'm saying the known casuals naturally got him and didn't even put much thought into it. And it's annoying.

            You made an error of judgement. Just get over it, get him in and move on. If you're better than the "known casuals" you'll catch up over the course of the season

        Sanchez is so expensive so if I end up removing him can easily afford Ibra, with Firmino I can get anyone up to 7,5 so should not be problems there either.

    I'm an Ibra captain'er and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still worried about Aguero, lol. Could easily better Ibra's score so Ibra owners shouldn't be too smug just yet, and Aguero captain'ers shouldn't be too concerned just yet.

    Regarding that match I couldn't be happier, but given we'll face better opposition than that this season there's still plenty room for improvement which I'm sure will come.

    Highlight for me wasn't even Ibra's 2 goals but rather Pogba's performance. Whilst it wasn't outstanding (still very, very good) I'm more excited by how easily he blended into the team like he's been with this group for years. He'll face harder tests but early signs are awesome!

    Glory, glory!!! 😉

        Sanchez might be good once Giroud is back to feed him in a Griezmann-like partnership, but Hazard is on penalties and van Dijk did make a nice Marseille turn during the game confirming his goalscoring threat 😀

    No idea what to do now.. Even now I don't want to knee jerk Martial/Vardy out but surely too dangerous to stay without Ibra?

    Aguero - Vardy - Gray

    Bit of a Dilemma. Currently have:

    Shaw, Valencia, Stones, Friend, Chambers

    Haz, Mahr, Erik, Deu, Red

    Aguero, Gray, Carroll. 0 ITB 2 FT

    A) Mahrez->Capoue, Gray->Ibra which must be done before prices rise tonight

    B) Eriksen->Capoue, Shaw/Valencia/Stones->Amat, Gray->Ibra for -4. Shaw/Val would leave 0.5 ITB so I can wait a few days and still afford it when prices go up

    Foster - Heaton
    Shaw - Walker - Williams - Stones - Evans
    Hazard - Tadic - Deulofeu - Townsend - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibra - Gray

    I'm thinking:
    A) Gray --> Diomande
    B) Evans --> Amat
    C) Townsend --> Redmond

    Favouring C) but would mean saints double-up in midfield. A) is a 0.2 swing in value but probs very short termist.
