Dugout Discussion – Sunderland vs Everton

Gameweek 4 comes to its conclusion this evening as Sunderland welcome Everton to the Stadium of Light.

Both sides roll up in contrasting form – whilst the Black Cats have yet to win, their visitors are unbeaten so far under new manager Ronald Koeman.

Two goals in the first three means Jermain Defoe is the man most likely to help David Moyes get one over his former club.

At the other end of the pitch, Patrick van Aanholt netted in his previous home appearance and Jordan Pickford’s owners are boosted by another start for the 4.0-price keeper.

For the Toffees, Ross Barkley is by far the most popular FPL pick, sitting in over 18% of squads.

With Koeman’s side set for an excellent run of fixtures, this evening’s match allows us the opportunity to also scout the likes of Leighton Baines, Romelu Lukaku and potentially even Kevin Mirallas, who starts for the fourth straight fixture under the Dutchman.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Lukaku if he goes on a run is a huge bonus for any team, which is awful news with Aguero's return on the horizon.

    Seems like deciding between Costa and Lukaku I made the right decision, even between captaining Ibra and Payet 🙂

      Same here. My midfield of Hazard - Sanchez - Mane - Lanzini - Capoue didn't work out spectacularly, but I still believe in it.

      I think I'm selling Ibra for Kun and keeping Rom. Much better midfield without Ibra and Kun together and MUFC won't score on a par with Citeh.

      On Lukaku - Ibra - Costa at the moment, so whilst I'm pleased I'm also wary of Kun's return.

      Lukaku - Kun - Kane is about as far as my budget will stretch, and that's with a weakened midfield. Unfortunately I think this year could be about getting lucky and picking the right heavyweight players.

        Am thinking of wildcarding this week - sure it's reactionary, but I have Redmond, Barkley, and Andre Gray. Will wait until after CL/Europa League to see what the injury situation looks like.

        I think Aguero has proven he will be in the highest scoring side in the league and on penalties, and will score 20+, hard to ignore. Ibra is expensive and likely Lukaku/Costa will provide more value but may not be as great (C) choices... I think Luk.Costa and Aguero is the way to go, though it will be interesting to see if Kane explodes at home to Sunderland... 3-4-3 with three expensive strikers and Capoue starting as a 4th mid may be a strategy with Antonio-Capoue-Hazard-(LIVERPOOL) but then you miss out on Sanchez/Ozil...

        Don't remember in many years (have been playing for 12 years) this many early season on-form options...

          if Antonio / Firmino / Cazorla deliver long term better value than Ozil / Sanchez / etc. it may work though I know that is a long shot..
