A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

McAuley to Clyne and Antonio to Lallana, I lose -4 points.

    My team:

    GK - Heaton (Pickford)

DEF - Koscienly, Williams, Clyne (Friend, Amat)

MID - Capoue, Sanchez, Sterling, Lallana (Fletcher)

    FOR - Lukaku, Aguero, Benteke

Next week I'm getting rid of Capoue if he doesn't score.f Capoue if he doesn't score.

Having been stuck in the mud since GW3, GW8 delivers once again and with a gameweek rank of 1.3k, I can't remember a better one than this.

Team looks good for next week. Cue a 30 pointer then.

We're now en route full steam ahead to GW9, the unofficial deadline for figuring out the Liverpool midfield.

Who to back ... Firmino, Coutinho, Mane, Lallana of Milner?

Should you double or even triple up and hedge your bets?

Or is it best to avoid them altogether and focus on teams who channel most of their points through just 1 or 2 players?

    1. Mini Mane Mo
      10 years, 21 days ago

Looking to double up on Pool mids, depending on the funds available. can't do any combination of Firmino/Coutinho/Mane...Have Firmino now...looking to bring Lallana in

Ibra owners, you have kept him this long, surely you
hold out for the armband against Burnley?
To sell him now is tantamount to an admission of defeat.
The Burnley game could right all the wrongs in one go.

I couldn't justify keeping him any longer. I should of sold him weeks ago. Like Mark said in the scoutcast, once you have him, he's difficult to transfer out. My team looks more balanced (though dull) without him.

World of hurt for Ibrahimovic owners 11.9 >> 11.4 could be 11 by GW10 rolls up. Gotta sell. However I would consider getting him in for Bur and Swans if priced at 11 🙂

He is quite difficult to bring back for a one off as means losing built up value from the likes of Lukaku, makes it not worth it. The way it is going it would be Aguero making way for any one week punt

I like him too for 4.3M, but that takes away precious ARS place maybe, that put me off, to be honest. 🙁

One dilemma guys, Antonio & Snodgrass to Walcott & Allen worth doing?

I have 0.1M cushion so I will wait.

I know all have great fixtures this week but something tells me Hull is not gonna score that many goals and Antonio has 3 blanks in a row.

    Appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks all.

Looks good, but Snodgrass still has amazing fixtures, pens and set pieces, decent form. I'm doing Capoue -> Allen to catch price rises and have more flexibility.

Thanks mate, I could do Capoue to Allen, too, but that doesn't get me Walcott in 2 moves.

        Cheers buddy, appreciate it.

Yes to Antonio out move, but why would you ditch Hull's only source of any attacking returns + on pens and set pieces.

Can't get Walcott in one move. Will try to figure something out. I know why I bought Snoddy but I believed in Hull before that. 🙂

It's just that Walcott really seems "essential" now and I don't have him 🙁

Fantastic if you would get last week points but we all know it's not gong to happen!

Stoke has great fixtures and Walcott is quality, not buying them because of previous week, would like to buy them to limit the damage going forward.

But yes, they won't be in double digits every week. I'm aware of that.

        Thanks.

Kiwi Villain are you deliberately giving out bad advice?

The 2 comments you have made on this page..

    1) Take a points hit to transfer Rashford > Austin (who has Man City away).
    2) Clyne doesn't score any points.

2 was wrong but only because of match today. Austin is the best striker last 4 weeks stats+goals FACT! Man City have how many CS? In 14/15 Austin scored away against Chelsea and home and away against Arsenal for QPR
