A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Do you think it's wise to:
    A) Get Allen for Capoue (5th mid) with 1FT and thus give Antonio another week
    B) Antonio to Spurs mid
    C) Save

A definitely. Play Allen vs Hull as well

Similar to my conundrum but I think I have to go Antonio to Allen due to prices...

You don't have Capoue to upgrade? From what I heard Antonio is likely to play as a winger next game.

Yes and that's reasonable as they don't have a left wing-back. At home to a porous Sunderland defence as well, they will surely go for goals and that means Antonio playing as a winger

Think I need to do Antonio to Allen for my 1FT this week simply because I'll get priced out of other options I like in the next few weeks... Kind of hate it though.

People getting excited about their ranks at this stage is really premature. Guy above 'shocked' Jonty is outside 1mil.

Seriously have to laugh at these things its only gw8. Ranks still fairly bunched together. The real race starts at after xmas.

Yep still early days although the shock i think is Jonty finding himself in the situation he is having shocking weeks and huge red arrows.. that's not something would happen very often if at all to him as he is a template kind of guy and for that exact reason.. in the past if he had a mare pretty much everyone else had too... not the case at the minute..

Wildcarded too early imo by the time everyone else played theirs a couple of weeks later a new template was emerging and he panicked.. hence the -8

Part of that is also down to just how many options there are in the game too, which they've discussed on the SC.

You're right though. Bottom line is he's gone from boasting he's miles ahead of Mark to being 69 points behind in no time.

Darren Fletcher has more clean sheets than City (this year) and Liverpool and he is buying an in-form striker in an in-form team. They may not win but I am sure Austin will score in at least one of them. After those 3 the next 6-8 matches are great.

Having watched Bradley in the states, he's normally a defense first coach. Arsenal game got away from him and he had to attack more. I fancy them to get a CS this weekend.

True, Boro are very solid, but no way I'm benching Walcott or Alexis. Might bench Sterling against Saints instead.

Feel like doing this -16 hit. I know it's silly but I have an OR of 1.2m so It's more fun this way. Plus this season I'm loving taking hits for some reason. Last year I was pretty disciplined hit wise but this season I've been shocking haha.

      Walker, McAuley, Snodgrass, Rashford out
      Holebas, Pieters, Allen, Lukaku in

      Will give me:
      Foster
      Bellerin, Holebas, Pieters
      Sanchez, Firmino, Walcott (c), Allen
      Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

      Jaku, Capoue, Smith, Amat

I expect plenty of nays for these hits so let me have it, Thanks.

Only got him in last week so holding, was a coin toss between him and Austin for me, so maybe I have chosen the wrong one 🙁

Never thought I'd take a hit for a second keeper but I have. Jaku to Grant.. Foster is my other keeper and WBA have some horrible fixtures. I reckon they will get a pasting at Liverpool this weekend and a fair chance Stoke will get a cleenie. The following week Stoke have Swans and WBA have Man City. Stoke also have the best fixture the following week, take into account a possible hefty price swing over the next couple of weeks too and it doesn't seem so daft after all.

Don't. WBA get cleanies when you least expect them and Foster is capable of getting 3-4 points easily.

      Hey guys,
Have 4.7m itb and need to upgrade Puncheon.(Walcott, Payet, Puncheon, Snodgrass, Capoue).
LIV mids are such a minefield so what to do:

      A. Puncheon to Mane/Firm

      B. Puncheon to Lallana (leaving 3.1m int to upgrade my 4th mid next week)

      C. Other

      Suggestions most welcome!

I know he seems to be controversial but assuming he doesn't break his leg in the CL, would you take a -8 to bring in Walcott this week. I think he will pay me back in the next 2 fixtures. Opinions?

It does and the problem is, my main rival does 8 points regularly and is STILL ahead of me by about 50 points so I am hoping that 1) it will cancel his differential (he has Walcott) and 2) he will pay for himself with 2 easy fixtures.

          de Gea/Pickford
Walker, Williams, Kone, Holebas (legend), McAuley
          Sanchez Allen Puncheon Antonio Son
          Aguero Austin Diomande

Just brought Allen and Austin in tonight for a 4 point hit. I want Bellerin, Walcott and Lallana for my next transfers.

It's just the fact that Allen is in great form Stoke have great fixtures and their next game is against hull who are just terrible so I think not playing Allen this week would be crazy if I owned him. Plus that extra 0.1 could come in handy

Thoughts on Allen as a 4th midfielder?

He’s now scored 5 goals in as many games (including internationals) and he has hul, SWA, whu, BOU, wat, BUR coming up.

A lot of people have been saying he has better underlying stats than Capoue but I don’t see it. He’s had 5 shots on target from 7 in his last 4 games for 4 goals which is quite a high conversion rate. Pretty similar to Capoue’s 5 shots on target from 7 in his first 5 games for 4 goals. Allen has more key passes per game though (1.6 vs 1.0 over that same period).

I think he's fine to play as a 4th for the next 3-4 weeks. Ride the hot hand and make some money. Reevaluate after that.

i think he is a solid pick as he is playing in the amc role, while capoue is slightly further back and fixtures is probably a big reason.

Dont forget his stats would have been much better if he had not been playing against the likes of City and United. Stoke only now starting to gel, and with easier fixtures there should be more points around in general. Naturally he will not keep it up forever but is currently in the form of his life. Whats not to like?
