For the past year and a half, Charlie Austin has featured around the fringes of the Premier League. Although he enjoyed a breakout season in the top flight in 2014/2015 with QPR, his side was relegated at the end of the campaign.

This saw the former Burnley striker suffer a disrupted season in 2015/2016; the first half of which was spent in the Championship in West London and the second on the physio’s table at Southampton.

But a summer of upheaval on the South Coast has rejuvenated Austin’s prospects. With Italian striker Graziano Pelle departing to China and new manager Claude Puel favouring a 4-4-2 diamond system, a fit and fiiring Austin has found his way back into the side and to scoring form.

The key question surrounding Austin is whether the 6.5 striker has the quality and the service to continue his good run, plus the endurance to maintain it.

Taking a look at Southampton’s performance data as a whole along with Austin’s individual statistics, we attempt to shed some light on the issue in this latest article for members.

Mike Dean in Charge of Arsenal game tomorrow. Do we reckon Sanchez be on penalty's then?

Am sure Dean will award one, just have to wait and see if it Sanchez or Walcott taking it then ( Assuming Caz isn't starting )

No. I fancy it will be Ozil. Wenger has been desperate to boost his goal scoring and this would be a nice way to do it... on top of the six goals he has already this season.

      Just my pet theory.

      1. Shipstontrev
        10 years, 17 days ago

I would love this to be true.

        1. Dr Dream
          10 years, 17 days ago

          Which bit ?...

The fact that Wenger would love to see him racking up more goals is true enough..and he's not been shy in saying so.
And yes...it would be really nice if my pet theory also turned out to be true.

Teams that have a lot of touches in the box demand that we pay attention to the pen pick. Liverpool, City and Arsenal chief amongst them.

      2. Ziegler1988
        10 years, 17 days ago

Ozil won't take it, missed so many for Arsenal and Germany

      3. The Count of Monte Cristo
        10 years, 17 days ago

Arsenal fan here and I don't feel confident at all when Ozil steps up to take penalties as he's missed a few for us. If not Santi or Alexis, I'd rather see Theo stepping up to smash it in the way he's been playing.

        1. Dr Dream
          10 years, 17 days ago

Aye...maybe...but you take my point about Wenger wanting Ozil to hit the onion bag more often.

          1. The Count of Monte Cristo
            10 years, 17 days ago

Oh, I don't doubt a single word of what you've said at all! Would still prefer to see Theo step up but then again, I couldn't care less who it was really as long as it's in the back of the net. 😀
