Woe for Argentina, yet another injury scare for Kompany and a literally forgettable appearance from Janssen marks the start of November’s international action. Here’s the round-up of Wednesday and Thursday’s matches.

Brazil 3 Argentina 0

Philippe Coutinho (8.7) continued his hot run of form with the opener in a humbling of bitter rivals Argentina.

The Liverpool midfielder cut in from the left and fired home a trademark long-range screamer as Brazil exorcised the ghosts of 2014 at Belo Horizonte – scene of their World Cup semi-final mauling by Germany.

Coutinho now has three goals and as many assists in his last four matches for club and country.

The hosts made short work of an Argentinian defence that included Man City pair Pablo Zabaleta (4.7) and Nicolas Otamendi (5.9), as well as Everton centre half Ramiro Funes Mori (4.7) and Man United reserve keeper Sergio Romero (4.8) – four players with just two league clean sheets between them this season.

After suffering an October international break during which he suffered an injury scare and missed a penalty, Sergio Aguero (13.1) failed to make the starting XI, but was introduced at half time to little effect.

City midfielder Fernandinho (5.4) played the full match for Brazil, whilst Roberto Firmino’s (8.7) 60,000+ new owners will be relieved after he was afforded an eight-minute sub appearance late in the match.

Chelsea’s Willian (7.2), meanwhile, was an unused sub.

The Brazilian contingent now look forward a Qualifier with Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning before they travel back ahead of Gameweek 12.

Argentina face Colombia in their own qualifier on Tuesday night.

Holland 1 Belgium 1

The in-form Eden Hazard (10.1) captained Belgium but went goalless for the first time in six league and international matches in Wednesday’s friendly with Holland.

Coach Roberto Martinez had said pre-match that he might struggle to find a starting place for Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (10.7) in the light of the fine form of Dries Mertens. In the end they both played, with Belgium initially fielding no recognised striker.

De Bruyne’s team-mate, Vincent Kompany (5.9), was due to start. But in a season consistently blighted by injury, he complained of feeling discomfort during the warm-up and had to be replaced by Watford’s Christian Kabasele (4.8).

Martinez played down worries over Kompany post-match, but the Belgian’s ongoing woes further cement John Stones’ (5.0 and 26.8%-owned) status as the Man City defender of choice for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Two Tottenham players were involved and both had matches to forget – literally in the case of Dutch striker Vincent Janssen (7.7), who lost 20 minutes of memory following a clash with Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet (4.8) and is now a doubt for Gameweek 12’s home match with West Ham.

His club colleague Jan Vertonghen (5.7) played the full match but gave away the penalty that led to Holland’s goal.

The friendly involved a plethora of other Premier League players, including Maarten Stekelenburg (5.1), Virgil Van Dijk (5.4), Daley Blind (5.8) and Georginio Wijnaldum (7.5). Romelu Lukaku (9.8) and Memphis Depay (7.2) also came on in the second half.

Meanwhile, Hazard was seen to be limping from the pitch on the whistle having suffered an awkward fall and collision, although there has been no news on any repercussions from that incident.

Hazard and Belgium are due to face Estonia in a World Cup Qualifier on Sunday, with the Dutch facing Luxembourg on the same day.

In South America’s other World Cup qualifiers, Arsenal’s David Ospina (4.8) kept a clean sheet for Colombia in a 0-0 draw with Chile.

At the other end of the pitch, Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo suffered a hip injury via two collisions either side of half-time which saw him forced off on 64 minutes.

Alexis Sanchez (11.3) played no part for Chile after picking up a training camp hamstring injury.

As we reported in yesterday’s Say What article, Chile face Uruguay on Tuesday, with Arsene Wenger urging the Chilean FA not to make a ‘suicidal’ decision to play their star man anytime soon.

A bad week for Wenger was worsened by the news that Hector Bellerin (6.6) had picked up an ankle injury on Spain U21 duty. The Spaniard, along with Sanchez, is a doubt for the Gunners’ Gameweek 12 trip to Man United.

Middlesbrough duo Christhian Stuani (5.1) and Gaston Ramirez (5.3) were involved in Uruguay’s 2-1 win over Ecuador. The former played the full 90 minutes and the latter came on in the second half.

Elsewhere in Europe, Leicester’s Demarai Gray (4.8) scored and on-loan Middlesbrough defender Calum Chambers (4.4) provided the assist for the late winner as England’s U21 team beat their Italian counterparts 3-2. Southampton midfielder-turned-striker Nathan Redmond (6.0) played the full 90 minutes.

The Nemesis system is fun, when you kill an enemy it has knock on affect and orcs get promoted, etc. However after a few hours running around the world feels very samey and it gets a bit boring. If you want a quality game buy dishonoured 2, which came out today!

If you're an LOTR fan, it's definitely worth it. Otherwise, there are better games out there along the same lines.

Good Enemy system though, with every fight affecting the orc's rank - making him harder to kill each time you've lost to him. Plus they taunt you when you try again 🙂

And there's nothing better than entering a goblin camp and going ballistic against impossible odds - good stress buster

I know. It's absolutely infuriating to get beaten by a runt of a nameless orc and then watching him become a captain because he was there to do the death blow.

But I just don't seem to be able to avoid the challenge of it 😛

Fairly basic. Nothing to write home about. It's a combat centric game, with a revenge plot provided to tie loose ends.

You're a man of gondor, your family gets killed - you survive because an elf shares his soul with you. You're both tortured by the past, but get super powers - which can be upgraded

Then, you kill and die and kill and die and kill - till you kill everyone

I always say that I'm not bothered but the last game against Slovenia was the most entertaining 0-0 I think I have ever seen. Edge of your seat stuff. England are so awful any fixtures could turn out to be a win or a draw. We are the west ham of international teams.

I'm English but not a fan. Not a fan of international football full stop but coming from the North East I just dislike the English National Football team. There's a real disconnect with a lot of fans up that way.

Why is that? They were talking a lot about it this week on Talk Sport, particularly Liverpool fans. Lots of people calling in saying they'd rather Liverpool win the league than England win World Cup.

Yeah I'd rather sunderland not get relegated than England winning a world cup, never mind us actually winning something!

It's hard to explain but a lot of fans in north just feel the English national team is very southern focussed. People live and work for club football up north, particularly in North East and international football just isn't anyway close to having the same impact.

It's Liverpool over England by a mile for me. I couldn't care less about the national team - wake me up when the next World Cup is on. I think the north/south devide in the country plays a part - I moved down to London a couple of years ago and people seem a lot more plugged into the national team down here.

I've genuinely not cared about England since the '06 WC - when Hargreaves carried the team through to penalties against Portugal.

I really don't think the players believe they'll ever win anything, but don't want the backlash of not putting themselves up for selection.

        I think you've hit the nail on the head there and the one thing the pundits and media are 'afraid' to confront;

~ "I really don't think the players believe they'll ever win anything, but don't want the backlash of not putting themselves up for selection."

I don't think it's all players, but there is an element. It's worthy of discussion.

Evening folks, struggling to make a transfer decision this week. Which one would you go for?

    a) Capoue -> Snodgrass/Allen (Play AoA)
    b) Smith-> £5.7/Brunt/?
    c) Smith -> Alonso & Capoue -> de roon (-4)
    d) Any Other option.

    Foster (Pickford)
    Mustafi Pieters Holebas! (Smith! Amat)
    Hazard Coutinho Firmino Walcott (Capoue)
    Kun Lukaku Austin

A, and AoA, only gives you a 1 GW respite - what would you do after that? Allen in his current form is only a heartache on the bench

C in my opinion - Chelsea get superb fixtures soon, and Capoue HAS to go

Yeah, I pulled the trigger as I've got no other pressing needs right now - we'll just have to wait and see on everyone being alright etc, I'm willing to take the risk. That extra £0.4m can be put towards upgrading Amat to a playing defender (want a strong bench for Xmas period).

        International breaks, yes.

But otherwise, you can make some smart moves to get the right player early and also increase team value - that has to count in the longer run no?

        1. Unbowed Unbent N'Golo
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

          True, you're absolutely right.
Though you would still increase TV in the long run, as long as you brought the right players in!

            • 9 Years
            9 years, 7 months ago

Agreed, ideally playing well would mean it improves. I think actively looking for these price rises/drops, along with getting good players, would give you an edge. In the last quarter, 103 and 105 team value would be a HUGE deal

However, the transfer urgency in this international break makes absolutely no sense!

Disclaimer: I rage transferred during the last GW because Sterling didn't play in my AoA and Holebas got subbed in - so I'm the worst of them all (but i don't ask for advice atleast) 😛

There seems to be a free-for-all mentality on hits at the current time which seems to works in the current dynamic of this particular season and its inherent TV, but could be damaging to your OR if it's not based on an accurate assessment of what's required right now for your your team and it's points based make-up. Taking early hits during IB is a risky business.

Is he even nailed on? Because someone will give way to Boufal, won't be Tadic so should be Austin or Redmond.

Who has given way to Boufal in the last 3 PL games?

                  Yes, TADIC.

yes thanks mate but points could get shared too in the better team, whereas Sunderland depends heavily on Defoe, what do you think?

Yeah it's possible. I also like Defoe as a pick.

Defoe does seem the centre of Sunderland's goals, he's got form too. Austin is also in a similar position.

I'd say Defoe is the perfect 3rd striker despite fixtures.

          Au$tin was way under priced @ 6.5m as he wasn't nailed on...now he's starting.

-Same price as when at QPR(relegated)..he scored 176 pts
          -Again on penalties
-Now has Tadic,Redmond and Boufal next to him.

            Au$tin 21.35
            Defoe 28.37

Only Ibra, Kun and Tekkers better than Charlie.

Austin. Younger, better side, chip on shoulder over not being picked by Southgate, will get same points regardless of you having Redmond or not.

Defoe is quality but won't get Austin's chances.

Austin. Don't forget he scored some 18 odd goals for a relegated team - he's a proven FPL point machine, as long as he's in the starting 11

Defoe a) plays for Sunderland, and penalties apart will not score as many from open play and b) plays for Sunderland. Reason c is the same as well. Just stay away from that team

t's been confirmed that both Vincent Kompany & Claudio Bravo will miss their countries second games in this international break but both are remaining with their country's camps and training individually.
City are confident that both just have minor injuries and both should be available for selection for the Crystal Palace game at Selhurst Park on the 19th November.

To be fair, he really was that good and crucial for Wales.

At the club level, i really think if he played for a team other than Arsenal, we would see the same player who plays for Wales

Paul Robinson on -103.5% on FFF and -97% on FPL stats.

If he drops in price to 3.9m is he a good shout for second GK to Heaton on WC? Im not keen on rotating keepers so would only play if Heaton is injured.

Some interesting match ups. Lots of community regulars against each other, which is good to see. Some big scalps will fall at the first hurdle.
