Eleven goals from the three matches – a hat-trick from a midfield differential and another double-digit return from Romelu Lukaku – with Liverpool’s attack yet to feature, Gameweek 28 looks destined to punch well above its weight.

Brought in by more than 143,000 ahead of Gameweek 28, second only to Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson among midfielders, Bournemouth’s Josh King is clearly the headline act so far.

It all started disastrously for King’s legion of new owners, with the Norwegian calmly side-footing his early spot-kick wide to register a -2 deficit.

However, he was to recover spectacularly, notching only the second hat-trick by an FPL midfielder this season, only falling short of matching Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 tally of 23-points due to his early penalty miss.

Deployed in a central striker role in recent matches, King was again played in the No 10 position behind Benik Afobe but found his route to goal nonetheless.

Incredibly, he has now produced eight goals in his last seven Gameweeks and looks an assured starter and vital source of goals for the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

The fixture list may stiffen, but King’s potential to go on providing points for a price tag of just 5.5 will surely drive an instant boom in ownership.

Already more than 10,000 have made the move ahead of the Gameweek 29 home meeting with Swansea City – only Spurs’ Harry Kane has seen more transfers since today’s 2pm deadline.

The availability such a budget midfield option, potentially playing in a striker’s role, could now raise further doubts on relying on a three-man forward line.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini will be targeted by many once he returns to action but, arguably, with such value available in midfield, there remains a strong case for the 3-5-2.

Certainly, Lukaku looks destined to remain part of our strike force, regardless of formation. He also played a key role in ensuring that the Gameweek 28 tallies will be higher than perhaps expected.

The top captain pick, with 767,000 trusting the striker with the armband, he once again proved his new reassuring level of consistency, particularly at Goodison Park.

Scoring for the fifth consecutive home outing, Lukaku produced a seventh double-figure return and, regardless of the frenzied clamour for Kane ahead of Gameweek 29, his role in our squads surely cannot be questioned.

With three of the next five at home – against Hull City, Leicester City and Burnley – Lukaku will remain locked in and will likely challenge as a captaincy contender over those matches.

While there was disappointment, with Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente failing to provide for his 378,000 new owners having limped off with a dead leg, it seems likely that Gameweek 28 could yet supply some significant scores – particularly if the Liverpool midfield can sparkle at Anfield on Sunday.

Having been flattened by the paltry returns from Manchester City’s midweek failings, Gameweek 28 has already provided unexpected fireworks with Messrs Mane, Coutinho, and perhaps Firmino, yet to take the stage to follow King’s lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I guess my No.1 priority is to get Kane in, so...

Would you get rid of Aguero or Lukaku to get him in?

Anyone else with double Pool mids and Llorente and King as their 7th and 8th attackers feeling confused? I think I'd take Llorente being ruled out next week.

      1. Jay_
        9 years, 4 months ago

I've already done Aguero to Kane so now stuck with a bench headache. Then there's the possibility of Pool mid to Sanchez -4 to confuse things even more

It's more likely the Pool mids don't go big imo.. City may not be rock solid but they will have the ball most of the game.. when you wildcarding mate i went last night 🙂

          1. Jay_
            9 years, 4 months ago

I'm hoping for a United win in cup to give Watford and Chelsea a dgw34 along with Boro. Think I'll go after 29 then, get Deeney, Holebas, Capoue, Valdes, maybe even 2 more Boro defenders and load up the rest with triple Spurs and double doublers (Valencia, Bertrand, Gabi, Sanchez etc). If Chelsea win, 34 will be underwhelming anyway, so'll wait until 36. Shocked you went so early, how'd you get on?

Yeah i was set on 30 then decided i wasn't in a position to go into any week on a -8 and with only 9 players after Firmino doubts.. decided to act and pile some pressure on ML leader and those around me early.. it's been pretty good so far 43 with Mane Matip and (C)outinho to come tomorrow..

Great score. Can see Manè getting at least 1 goal.
      Randolph pen save was random.

Aguero likely falling tonight on -106.1 on fplstatistics, Kane could rise not 100%

Kane for Kun tonight is risky given that Spurs play tomorrow.

Can someone tell me why Alli is guaranteed to go down tonight?!? Ridiculous

    Aguero & Alli/Cout > Sanchez & Kane -4?!

    Yay or Nay?!

I dont know the percentage of FPL players tracing price changes, but it's not high.

    A) Kane for Llorente or Rondon?
    How bad is Llorentes injury?
    B) Eriksen for Zaha?
    C) Eriksen for Mane or Coutinho (ManC away)
    D) Both A and B/C for hit.

      A. One way or another Rondon has to go. Poor fixtures, not scoring and dropped today.

I just found out that my main rival who is behind me by 10 points has done better in regards of captain choices by 100 pts, also I have spent 40 more on transfers. I have chosen the wrong captain since January. Should I follow the Captain sensible chart? Really desperate..

I'm leaning towards B, but I think you should keep Mané a bit longer and wait and see about Sanchez.

Ok so I'm going through what I think is my worst spell ever in my 9 years playing FPL : I went from 12k in GW10 to 326k today.

I would really need your help.

So here's my team as it stands :
    Heaton Pickford
    Luiz Coleman Baines Francis Amat
    Mané Coutinho Eriksen Phillips Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Rondon

Out of this lot, the only ones who are kind of worth keeping IMO are : Heaton, Pickford, Coleman, Mané, Coutihno, Eriksen, Lukaku

My plan all along was to wait until the big double gameweek was announced to use my second WC, but with all the dead wood I'm carrying I'm afraid I'm going to have to reconsider and use it sooner.

So my question is : should I WC ASAP or try to keep it a bit longer and take a few hits here and there?

take hits, clear out the deadwood and keep the wc for now
